Styles: Welcome back, everyone to the Viking Hall for this week's edition of Eastern Championship Wrestling.

We know we've been off the radar for a moment but we can't be kept down for long. = Crowd cheers = We are back and as promised before, our main event will feature a "Street Fight" between Tully Blanchard and this man coming to the ring now, Kevin Sullivan.

* Kevin comes to the ring accompanied by Tazmaniac, Fallen Angel and Mega Mahara *

Sullivan : Joey Styles, I am here to inform you and inform all of these sheep out here that something terrible is going to happen here today. We might be the embodiment of despair, Joey Styles, but that does not mean that we do not have feelings.

Tully Blanchard, you are nothing now. You are not a Hoarseman. You are not a champion and after today, you not even going to be among the significant. I was told if your coming to ECW by the Master. I was laying in the desert, purifying myself for the tasks given to me when he'd came to me. He's told me that you are here for the wrong reasons. He's told me that you and Dusty Rhodes are trying to end me. Trying to end everything that holds me together and THIS is why I had decided to end you, Tully Blanchard.

The Mastah is a charitable and benevolent entity and had given you a respite but still you wish to be ended. Why you wish this, no one knows but know this, Tully Blanchard. After today you shall wish you had heeded this warning and prayed thanks to the Mastah.

Styles: Well, if this isn't enough, your man here, the Tazmaniac, will be squaring off against Nikita Koloff in a semi final match for the ECW World Title. Tazz, what are your thoughts going into this battle?

* Tazmaniac just growls while Mega Mahara actually goes to grab Styles. Mahara is held back by Taz while Sullivan speaks *

Sullivan : Don't EVER address the Tazmaniac, Joey Styles. He has no wish to speak of you. And as you see, Mega Mahara will not permit this either. Mega Mahara, as his mentor, Maha Singh was, is not a stable man.

Styles : Well, you better keep a leash on that maniac, Sullivan. I'm not a trained wrestler and don't have to put up with that.

Sullivan : Don't you worry about him, Joey Styles. As long as you don't bother the Tazmaniac then Mahara will not bother you.

But onto this otha' matta'. Nikita Koloff, long have you been of interest to myself and the Army of Darkness. Afta' you had decided to disana' your Uncle, Ivan Koloff, and aligned with Dusty Rhodes, you had been of interest to us. You aligned against family and laid your loyalties at the table of the most dispicable man in all of the world. And for this, you shall suffa', Nikita Koloff.

Masked Superstar w/ Bobby Heenan & King Kong Bundy v Shane Douglas

* Perfect Strangers by Deep Purple plays as Shane Douglas enters the ring. Douglas plays to the crowd a little bit, mockingly wearing a "Hulk Rules" yellow and red t-shirt as the Heenan family makes for the ring.

Heenan calls for a mic as he enters the ring, flanked by his family and addresses Douglas.

Heenan : Shane Douglas. I have to admit that you are one of the best up and coming wrestlers in the world today but you aren't there yet and let me tell you why.

First off, even though I hate Hogan more than you can ever imagine, there's one thing that separates you and him. He's been a world champion but you can get there, Shane, and I'll tell you how.

Let me guide you, Shane. You're a young man and with myself, Superstar and Bundy with you, the sky would be the limit.

Douglas : -smiling- Well, that sounds like a great plan, Mr. Heenan. You know I've always respected you three. Unlike Hogan, you three have truly shown what it is to win at all costs.

Hogan likes to talk and talk but Superstar there .. He's a great man. A great masked wrestler. Never a world champion but a great competitor nonetheless. And King Kong Bundy. Giant of a man. Easily one of the greatest immovable objects of all times.. Never a world champion but a formidable force.

Heenan : - stopping Douglas- Hold on one second, Shane. We come out here and offer you greatness and you mock us?

Douglas : Nothing can be further from the truth, Bobby. You've always been the manager of champions, in my opinion. My only objection to your offer is when you want to recruit the best, you bring out the best with you. You want to show me that the Heenan family is the best option for my career, you bring out Bockwinkel. You bring out Stevens. You bring out the Blackjacks. Not two B-listers.

Superstar : Boy. You think you know your history? We'll if that's true, then you know you just bought yourself one grade A beating.

Douglas : That's all I ask, Superstar. Heenan, why don't you and Shamu there go on ahead and get out of the ring now before he causes it to collapse.

* Superstar and Bundy are incensed and both attack Douglas now. Douglas tries to fight both off but can't as the ref starts yelling at Heenan to get Bundy out of the ring. Heenan starts realizing what Douglas' tactic is but can't get Bundy to comply and the ref calls for a DQ as Bundy and Superstar won't quit the double team attack *

Winner by DQ - Shane Douglas

· After the bell rings, both men realize that they've been duped into losing their tempers. Douglas uses this moment to climb out under the bottom rope. Douglas laughs and points at the two men. Heenan just stands there, mouth agape but releases the smallest grin *


· Nikita Koloff d Tazmaniac w/ Mega Mahara via Russian Sickle (10m 22s) *

A couple of well place suplexes slightly injures Nikita’s neck and he’s on the defensive for some of the match before he regains the momentum, hitting his Sickle on Taz, winning the match.


Main Event: Streetfight: Tully Blanchard w/ Dusty Rhodes v Kevin Sullivan w/ Army of Darkness

Plenty of mayhem and bloodshed, with Kevin Sullivan winning. The end of the match occurs when Sullivan hits Blanchard with a blackjack he gets from Fallen Angel as Blanchard is attempting to reach down, through the ropes, to retrieve Sullivan.

Rhodes immediately climbs in the ring after the match and both men are waiting to speak

Blanchard: Kevin Sullivan. I never thought I would see the day where this man on my left, and myself would ever have a common purpose.

For years, Dusty Rhodes and myself have battled all over the world. Battled over titles and bragging rights and in one swoop, you managed to throw us together. This can not stand, Kevin Sullivan. I don’t like Dusty Rhodes and he don’t like me but if there’s one thing in this world we can agree on, it’s that you are a disease and we are going to be the cure.

[Grape Ape]

First of all, welcome back from your hiatus/break/vacation. Nice to see something coming out of Philly.

I like Kevin Sullivan and his fellow Army of Darkness cohorts. You've done a great job capturing his speech patterns and his character. It will be fun to see this group in action. With Rhodes on your roster, you have Sullivan's mortal enemy to work with which should produce some bloody matches.

And the war has begun with Nikita and the Tazmaniac meeting the ring. Nikita might have won the battle but an injured neck thanks to the Tazmaniac might have set Kevin Sullivan down the road to winning the war.

Battle #2 with Sullivan and Blanchard in a street fight. Not much of a description here but I think we get the point. Nice speech from Tully continue to reaffirm the two long time enemies working together to rid ECW of the greater evil in Sullivan and then *BAM* you announce Tully's release?!?!?! WHA?!?!?!

Douglas taking a beating to prove a point? From the Superstar AND King Kong Bundy? That's a lot of beef to take a beating from to prove a point to Bobby Heenan. I really enjoyed the back and forth between Shane and Bobby UP to the beating. Take too many of those kinds of beatings and Shane won't be around long enough to become a champion. I do like the thought of Shane with Heenan in his corner, guiding his career to the top.

As a member of the NWA, the only World titles are the NWA titles, therefore making ECW a regional title.

I gotta say you shouldn't start off anything you write with how "not good" you think it is. Let us decide that for you. This wasn't a bad card by any means and by telling us that YOU think it is bad might turn off some people to actually reading it. Not a good move otherwise a decent offering.

Ok show, for me ECW goes along with WCW, WWF is the hardest to write. To me this does not feel like ECW to me. I think you have to big of names for me. I' m glad that you back.

Well, when folks have come to expect something out of me, I want to give it all I have. Anyone who knows me knows I didn't give 110% on it. I feel they will still read it, if they read my work normally, that is but it was my way of apologizing, atleast in a small way.

ECW is a regional title but Douglas' goal IS the World Heavyweight title, held by Steamboat. Thus the goading of Superstar and Bundy

Blanchard .. I'd put some thought into it before releasing him. Not sure why I released him but it just wasn't working for me, if that makes any sense. I'd looked over rosters and we're pretty good here about folks getting 'right fits' and was secretly hoping that Blanchard would go to Southwest. Why I didn't send a pm beforehand, I dunno but that was my intent.

Anywho, I'm back and am thinking of what I need to do with my workers so expect some great things down the road.

I was just speaking yesterday to Grape about trying to eliminate some of these big names. I 'think' I had a little WC syndrome when picking lol but it won't be staying like this for long. 1/2 the reason for letting Blanchard go was because of this.

Regardless, you shouldn't apologize for what you put out. If you feel that badly about it where you preface your card with an apology, wouldn't it be better to take the time to get it to a point where you are happy with it? I know we are all our own worst critics but if you don't like it that much, it might be better to take your time and write something you stand behind.

The regional comment was towards Joey Styles calling the Nikita/Taz match a semi-final to the ECW World title.

The individual has to make the call on whether or not someone is a good fit but I have to be honest, of much of your roster, I thought Tully was a great fit, especially in the early days here as your ECW is different from the "real" ECW. A Tully/Shane feud could have been a passing of the torch in my opinion.

Didn't Tully and Shane have a real good match IRL? I didn't mind the card but I'm with Ape, if you thought you had too many big names, Tully woulda been the last guy to release IMO. Eastern Championship Wrestling used veterans, this ain't the land of extreme, what it should be is the land of misawamark and if that means we lose Tully who I think adds way more to the roster than Nikita or Dusty then that is ok, we'll see how it goes. I cant count the number of times things didn't go my way as a fan and yet the promotion turned out just fine.

You gotta make it yours before you will really enjoy it man. I liked the format of the show as it is, and am waiting to see what you consider your full potential.

Tully had a ton of ring rust as he hadn't really worked since '89, not to mention he wasn't happy with the idea of putting Shane over. So they booked a draw at the arena and it was the shits. Shane finally got his win at Double Tables, but the way it was booked it looked more like a fluke than anything else. After the draw the month before the crowd wasn't into Tully at all. Giant waste of time that program was. It was intended to establish Shane as Flair's equal, but once they realized Tully wasn't really going to play ball they should have just dropped it all together.

Now for feedback. I enjoyed this show for the most part. I'm into the vets here, just can't buy into Bobby Heenan or Hulk Hogan being involved. Too big time for me to wrestle at Viking Hall. Have you ever been there? No way '92 Hogan would work it.

Thing about Heenan that people have to realize too, and we haven't seen it yet so time will tell, but he's done taking bumps at this point IRL. Truth be told that was the key to his managing style hence why he stopped managing. Heenan would rile the crowd up, then show ass by bumping. Now that he can't do it... would be better suited as a commentator for someone who does dialog honestly.

BUT the Sullivan stuff is perfectly old school and would thrive in the area for sure.

I kind of see both sides on the Heenan thing though. Yeah. Drew raises the right point about Bobby's style being centered on his bumps. He always thrived when he could go out there, run his mouth, and take his lumps when karma caught up to him. That was the draw. That was the payoff.

On the other hand, Bobby had another strength - and that was his talking. With the right dialogue, I'd still buy into Heenan as a major mouthpiece. He's a worthwhile manager to have, even at this stage. Better as an announcer? Sure. Put him on color commentary, and you won't hear anyone wittier. Even so, you won't hear me complain about anyone choosing to use him as a manager.

Moving forward, I'm a big fan of the Sullivan stuff. Kevin probably gets a bit of a bad rep, thanks to his participation in the God awful Dungeon of Doom garbage in the nineties. But, cut that piece of the puzzle from his career, and the guy was always entertaining for me. Loved his Florida stints. His work with Benoit & the Horsemen in later nineties WCW was seriously strong stuff, too. The Taskmaster mess? Not so much.

So yeah. Putting Sullivan here in the thick of things works for me, man. Using his presence to help elevate guys like Taz just clicks. I like the approach thus far, too. Pitting Sullivan against well-known rivals like big Stardust and Nikita is a great decision. The idea of Taz possibly being THE guy to ultimately retire the Russian Nightmare could be a HUGE move for Taz's career, by the way.

Not sure about the connection with Heenan & Douglas just yet. I'm not totally sold on it, but I'm not completely against it either. Let's just say that I'm willing to give it a shot. I'll gladly wait & see what you do first. In the meantime, I do like how you're at least using the Brain as a bridge between Shane and Hogan. Everyone & their third cousin knew about Heenan hating Hogan. Well played, sir.

Sad to hear about Tully leaving the area already, but I can see the reasoning behind it. Just do you, man. Make this promotion want you want it to be, and you'll find that things are much more enjoyable that way.

Yeah, if Misawa is willing to put in the dialogue, I think Heenan can work here without having to take bumps. He can still be threatened which in and of itself might be a whole lot of fun in the right writer's hands but I think it can be made to work well where it benefits Shane Douglas as well as us readers.

As for the commentary spot, I think that would require a whole lot more of Misawa to pull off to make work. That's a lot of dialogue and while it might be tons of fun, it might become too much of a chore for Misawa.

Blanchard and Dusty going after Sullivan is believable but potentially explosive. It has to draw the reader, or the fan, in like a NASCAR race. Loved the confidence arrogance of Douglas. The A-Listers/B-Listers comment was pure freakin' genius. Kollof and Taz was a great match-up.

Great and well worth the wait. Maybe a different cast of characters than real life ECW but compelling, none the less.

Best of luck with ECW. In the beginning they didn't have a whole lot of stars. You have more talent than they did so I hope it works out for you.

Looking back on the whole segment with Bobby & Shane, I like it. Unique approach to the age-old "hottest free agent" angle, I'd say. Douglas branding HIMSELF a franchise player & turning the tables on a world class manager like Heenan is a good start. Hope to see more of this carried out.
