Monday Night 7/16/92
Mid-South Coliseum
Memphis, Tenesee
First round action in the tournament to crown number one contenders to the Fantastics USWA Tag Team Championships opens up the show as the Dangerous Alliance Duo of "Terrific" Terry Taylor & Greg "the Hammer" Valentine w/ Paul E. Dangerously mix it up with the Bruise Brothers (Don & Ron Harris). The Bruise Brothers power has the heels stalling quite a lot here. They're able to isolate Ron for a stretch building to the hot tag. Finish see's Taylor take the H Bomb and Ron attempt to cover, Paul E. has the officials attention allowing the Hammer to sneak in a drop one of his trade mark elbows, and a second one before he placing Taylor on top for the tainted victory at 8:14! Taylor & Valentine advance!
Back to back with tournament matches tonight as the much hated Gangstas (New Jack & Mustafa) w/ Wolfie D & Company face off against crowd favorites "Superstar" Bill Dundee & Marcus Alexander Bagwell. It's a wild freaking brawl here, with the Gangstas bringing the heat. When in control over Bagwell the crowd begins to pelt the ring with trash. The blackjack gets involved, but Jack gets caught with it and is DQ'd after striking Marcus at 7:02. Jack gets in the officials face after the match as Marcus is checked on.
Singles action see's the returning "Wild Eyed Southern Boy" Tracy Smothers go one on one with The Gambler. Gambler is as colorful as ever, match is fun for what it is. Smothers picks up the win at 5:05 off the jawjacker.
The monster known as Doomsday is lead out by Daryl Van Horne next, tonight's victim to be is fan favorite Koko B Ware. . The bird man takes the fight to his much larger foe right from the get go, but Doomsday no sells all his offense. Big boot, and a power bomb seals Koko's fate once and for all at just 3:16. Who can stop the monster?
Just before intermission with our first of two title defense as Brian Christopher his USWA Jr. Heavyweight Championship against "Simply Irresistible" Jeff Jarrett it what was being billed as Jarrett's last shot at the title. As good as the previous matches, Jarrett looks poised to win it all here, BUT guess who opts to get involved?
NEW JACK! He's actually blocked by the official from entering the ring, but manages to slip the blackjack to Christopher who in turn KO's Jarrett with it for the tainted victory behind the officials back at 15:45.
Post Match- Mustafa & Wolfie D hit the ring and join in on beating Jarrett to a bloody pulp! Tracy Smothers is out for the save, Christopher mind you has high tailed it out of there of course. Save is a success, but again Wolfie D makes no contact with Smothers what so ever.
Intermission
Our one night tournament wraps up to welcome us back as "Superstar" Bill Dundee & Marcus Alexander Bagwell take on Terry Taylor & Greg Valentine w/ Paul E. Dangerously in our finals. The heels isolate Bagwell right away, as Paul E. bickers with Dundee on the outside. With the crowd behind him Bagwell reaches out to tag in Dundee, as Paul E. can be heard shouting "FINE, HE'S DONE YOU IN NOW? " towards Dundee, who agrees? Dundee drops to the floor as Bagwell reaches for the tag. What in the world is going on here! Bagwell shouts in confusion as Dundee and Paul E. shake hands. Marcus is all alone now and yeah FIVE ARM from Taylor SHOULD finish but Valentine is tagged in to pick up the submission victory at 12:48! BILL DUNDEE HAS JOINED THE DANGEROUS ALLIANCE FANS!
Post Match- A smiling Dundee has words with some fans on the outside as the foursome exits to the back, proud of what they've accomplished here tonight. Dundee has turned his back on Bagwell and as a result Taylor & Valentine are now the number one contenders to the USWA Tag Team Championships!
Paul E's right back out there leading his charge "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol as he challenges Terry Funk for the USWA Heavyweight Championship. Can the Alliance re-secure the gold on the same night Dundee joins their ranks? Really fun one here, both men really giving it their all. Great character work. Paul E plays difference maker at points, and Idol looks to have it won with the swinging neckbreaker he's known to use from time to time. Funk impresses by kicking out at two! He sets up for it yet again... BUT...
"HOT STUFF" EDDIE GILBERT HITS THE RING DRAWING THE DQ! GILBERT GOES RIGHT FOR IDOL! EDDIE CHASES IDOL OUT OF THE RING FOR THE DQ at 23:34! Paul E can be heard shouting that Gilbert's done. TALK ABOUT A LOOSE CANNON HERE! Gilbert has just cost Idol the USWA Heavyweight championship!
Before the main event can start, we've got to get "Boston Bad Boy" Tony Rumble loaded into that shark cage. Rumble pitches a fit and tries to leave the ringside area, BUT HERE COMES THE KING Jerry Lawler! Lawler dodges a Bam Bam Bigelow attack sending him into the cage, then grabs up Rumble and loads 'em into the cage to a huge reaction! A scared to death Rumble pleads and pleads as it's hoisted up into the air. Then it's to the ring where Bammer recovers and we're locking 'em up now with those dog collars! Match itself is an intense blood bath with not many wrestling moves thrown in there. The King shows color first, as Bammer dominants the early going. Lawler mounts a huge comeback busting Bigelow wide open, but it's short lived as "the Beast From The East" is back in control after clocking King with that chain. He tries to come in off the top, but Lawler pops up and pulls 'em down by the chain! A few chain wrapped punches and King outsmarts a downed Bammer by tying up his legs and covering..

Post Match- Both men are slow to their feet, BUT BAM BAM BIGELOW shocks the world by EXTENDING A HAND TO THE KING as Rumble is lowered from the cage! They shake to a nice reaction, as King heads to the back. Here comes a worked up Rumble and he's IN BIGELOW's FACE OVER THE HANDSHAKE! He SHOVES BAMMER, BIG MISTAKE AS BIGELOW shrugs BEFORE LETTING HIM HAVE IT WITH A RIGHT HAND! Bammer RIPS off Rumble's neckbrace, sets him up.. POWERBOMB TO TONY RUMBLE! POWER BOMB TO TONY RUMBLE! A busted up Bammer celebrates to a nice reaction from the crowd, as medics are out to check on the Boston Bad Boy!
