Saturday Morning July 14th, 1992
TV5 Studios Memphis Tenesee

Lance Russell & Dave Brown welcome us to yet another exciting edition of Championship Wrestling. They make us aware that we've got a huge line up this Monday Night that we'll be getting to after the break. But FIRST it's all about what we'll see on this program:
"Wild Eyed Southern Boy" Tracy Smothers makes his return to the area!
The Gangstas will be in tag team action.
TV5 Championship is on the line as Marcus Bagwell defends against The Gambler.
"Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol will be in action!
The USWA television debut of DOOMSDAY!
Terry Taylor & Greg Valentine of the Dangerous Alliance will be here!
Koko B Ware & Jeff Jarrett team up to face Brian Christopher & Wolfie D in our Expiration Of Time Main Event.
We're taking a break, when we return we've got a run down of this Monday Night's huge card PLUS the return of Tracy Smothers!
Commercial Break
We're back and we're running down this Monday Night's huge card before heading to the ring:
Special Attraction One Night Tag Team Tournament to crown No.1 contenders to the Fantastics USWA Heayweight Championships featuring the Gangstas, The Bruise Brothers, Bill Dundee & Marcus Bagwell + Greg "the Hammer" Valentine & "Terrific" Terry Taylor.
Last Chance For Jeff Jarrett: Brian Christopher defends the USWA Jr. Heavyweight title against his rival for the FINAL time!
Daryl Van Horne's monster: Doomsday goes one on one with Koko B. Ware!
Tracy Smothers will be in action.
USWA Heavyweight Title is on the line as Terry Funk defends against "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol!
And our main event, a DOG COLLAR MATCH: Jerry "the King" Lawler goes to WAR against "the Beast From The East" Bam Bam Bigelow!
With that we head to the ring for Tracy Smothers in action!
Tracy Smothers defeated Johnny Rotten via pinfall off the jawjacker in 2:28.
Notes: Rotten's got some size, but it really doesn't play a factor as Tracy catches him by surprise with the jawjacker for the quick victory.
Lance is joined by Tracy moments later at the interview area.
Lance Russell: " An impressive victory from the returning Tracy Smothers. Tracy it's glad to have you back in the area. "
Tracy Smothers: " Well Lance it's great to be here, but I'm afraid it's not all sunshine and rainbows. See I've been watching the last few weeks, and well there's someone I wanna bring on out here and have a little talk with..."
Lance Russell: " And just who would that be? "
Tracy Smothers: " It's going to surprise a lot of people, but if this kid can just come on out here and hear me out... I know 'em as Kelly, ya'll know him as Wolfie D..."
And here comes Wolfie D to boo's...
Wolfie D: " Hey Tracy, been a while, eh? "
Tracy Smothers: " Ain't that the truth. See a lot of people don't know this, but this kid right here, well I helped bring him in. But I've gotta say Kelly, the stuff you got going on right now with New Jack, boy you've done lost your mind. I don't get it. You're hanging out with guys who hate on this rebel flag here (points to the flag on his jacket) hate on these people, and what they stand for... I don't get it. What's gotten into you, man? This ain't the kid that I helped break in, the gear, the attitude, everything man, what's gotten into you? "
Wolfie D: " This is me dawg... I'm just being myself..."
Tracy Smothers: " No, no you ain't. You're just caught up in the controversy kid, and it's gonna get you in a world of trouble. LOOK your a local boy, don't you go on forgetting that Kelly, rethink what you've got going on man. "
Wolfie looks a little nervous, and HERE COMES THE GANGSTAS, New Jack, Mustafa & their gang of random thugs! They've got a match, so Jack stops and grabs Wolfie by the back of the collar...
New Jack: " YOU AIN'T GOTTA LISTEN TO THIS BIGOTS CRAP, COME ON! "
Jack & Mustafa drag a confused looking Wolfie to ringside.
Tracy Smothers: " Well Lance, don't know if I got through to 'em, but at this point I can only hope he comes to his senses. "
The Gangstas (New Jack & Mustafa) w/ Wolfie D & Company defeated David Young & The Yellowjacket when New Jack pinned Young off a top rope diving headbutt at 1:11.
Notes: Quick and dominant win here today on TV from the Gangstas, no promo perhaps out of fear of New Jack going off the rails yet again. Still they look good as they head into the No. 1 contenders tournament this Monday Night.
We're taking a break when we return we'll be hearing from the King about Monday's big main event!
Clip of Smothers hitting the Jawjacker sends us to...
Commercial Break
We're back as Lance brings up this up coming Monday Night's DOG COLLAR MATCH show down between Bam Bam Bigelow & "the King" Jerry Lawler! This brings Lawler out. Lance gets right to it, calling the match one of the most dangerous if not the most dangerous in the business.
Jerry Lawler: " Oh there's no denying that Lance. Fact is, I had my reservations about taking this match, I'll be the first one to admit it, BUT this is it. This is the END, after the Dog Collar match it's over. What better way to end this thing than with one of the most brutal matches of all time? "
Lance Russell: " It won't be for the weak of heart that's for sure..."
Jerry Lawler: " Well it won't be for everyone, but it's what Bam Bam Bigelow wants, so it's what Bam Bam Bigelow will get. "
And here comes.. "Boston Bad Boy" Tony Rumble neck brace and all!
"Boston Bad Boy" Tony Rumble: " Look at 'cha brutha... all ya're talking bout what Bam Bam Bigelow wants, he'll get, eh? I'll tell yah what he wants Kingo.. I'll tell yah what he's gonna do, he's gonna break your freaking neck! "
Jerry Lawler: " Maybe he will Tony, maybe he won't... Maybe I'll just break his first... but you know something Tony I've taken this match, it's what you guys wanted, so I've done it. To SHUT you up once and for all, but man alive am I surprised to see you out here smiling..."
Tony Rumble: " 'Course I'm smiling Kingo, this it for you BRUTHA! "
Jerry Lawler: " Guess it could be, but hey I've heard that from plenty before.... but that's not why I'm surprised... see I took this match, but it wasn't without a condition. Dog Collar, well that's as brutal as it gets, but it's no DQ.. and I know you Tony, I know how you work. "
Tony Rumble: " How do I work? I'm a hard working man, brutha!"
Jerry Lawler: " Well try doing that job of yours, 50 feet in the air (sarcastically) 'brother' because the condition I asked for, and the condition that Eddie Marlin granted... as me and the big DUMMMIE battle it out inside the ring, YOU'LL BE SUSPENDED FROM A CAGE ABOVE IT! "
Tony Rumble: " WH...WH...WHAT??! BUT... BUT... BUT.. I'M AFRAID OF HEIGHTS! "
Jerry Lawler: " (laughing) Sounds like a PERSONAL problem to me!"
King walks off as Tony pleads with Lance, Russell blows him off and takes us to a video on the soon to be debuting Too Cold Scorpio.
Commercial Break
We're back and it's time for our weekly TV5 Championship bout!
Marcus Alexander Bagwell retained the TV5 Championship over the Gambler, pinning him with a Fisherman's Suplex in 9:48.
Notes: Bagwell impresses here but don't discount the Gambler who actually gets in some good offense. Match itself work rate wise wasn't much but it accomplished what it had to accomplish and Bagwell retains.
After the match we catch up with Bagwell quickly for a rather generic baby face promo about how focussed he and "Superstar" Bill Dundee are on the tag belts and all that jazz. We're taking to another video package hyping "The Adonis" moments later.
[VTR]
The toast of the East Coast...
He THRIVES on DANGER...
The HOTTEST FREE AGENT IN ALL OF PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING...
THE ADONIS IS COMING!

Clip of Bagwell hitting the Fisherman's Suplex takes us to..
Commercial Break
We're back and we're about to head up to the ring for Austin Idol in action against the mysterious Spellbinder but FIRST we're taking you back to this past Monday's Nights 8 Man Tag!
[VTR]
And it's The Dangerous Alliance (Taylor, Idol, Gilbert & Valentine) Vs. Lawler, Dundee, Bagwell & Funk joined in progress. We're focusing on Gilbert scoring with the Hot Shot & Idol stealing the pin, as well as Idol and Gilbert getting into it after the match leading to Eddie storming off.
[END VTR]
Our announcers mention that there appears to be trouble in the DA as we head to the ring.
"Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol w/ Paul E. Dangerously defeated The Spellbinder via pinfall after scoring with a swinging neckbreaker in 7:16.
Notes: The Spellbinder brings his power game and has Idol back peddling a bit, but a rookie mistake of lowering his head cost him in the end and Idol picks up the rather impressive victory moments later.
Lance is joined by Idol & Paul E. following the win.
Lance Russell: " We saw the footage, things between this man right here, the Idol, & former USWA Heavyweight Champion 'Hot Stuff' Eddie Gilbert seem to be heating up. Eddie's not even here this morning, so that speaks for itself..."
Paul E Dangerously: " Yeah Eddie's not here, but you know what that doesn't bother me one bit. Perhaps a little time away will do him good. BUT I will NOT talk about the on going problems with Eddie & the Idol here... why dwell on the past? Let's not waste our time talking about the FORMER champion, let's talk about the NEXT champion, and that's this man right here 'the Universal Heartthrob' Austin Idol! "
Lance Russell: " Well this Monday Night he's got his shot at Terry Funk and that USWA Heavyweight Championship..."
Austin Idol: " (Smiles) Long time coming, JACK! Long time coming! Where Eddie Gilbert has come up short, the women's pet, and the man's regret's set to come on in and make things right, baby! Terry Funk while you've been beating on Eddie Gilbert all over the terroitory, I've been making a FOOL out of the WORLD'S CHAMPION... you're LOOKING AT THE UNDEFEATED DRAGON SLAYER, baby... "
Paul E. Dangerously: " You want to talk about momentum? Think about it Terry Funk, think about what this man has accomplished WITHOUT the USWA Heavyweight Championship? We're talking about a man who's defeated the World's heavyweight champion not just once, but on two seperate occasions. We're talking about a man, who just this past Monday Night pinned YOU Terry, clean right in the middle. A man who's gone 60 MINUTES with the Dragon... Sure you've proven time and time again to have Eddie Gilbert's number, but Austin Idol? We're talking about a man who's in a category all to himself! "
Austin Idol: " (posing) NEXT CHAMP right here, don't let anybody tell yah other wise! Terry Funk, comes on out here smiling and a pandering, goofy as a pet coon, ME? I'm cool, I'm calm, and I'm reserved, daddy! First comes the USWA Heavyweight Championship, then the World Championship is just 'round the corner. Terry Funk, your good, BUT I'm BETTER! Your tough, BUT I'm TOUGHER, your
mean, but daddy you're looking at the MEANEST MAN IN ALL OF PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING! "
They turn to leave, with Paul turning around and shouting "NEW CHAMP" In the interest of fairness, Lance takes us to pre-recorded words from the USWA Heavyweight Champion: Terry Funk!
[VTR]
It's Funk standing behind a generic background with a cheesy graphic reading "Funk's Grill" ripped right from his old NWA days.
Terry Funk: " Austin Idol, I ain't surprised one lick that you're stepping up to the plate... we're talking about a man who's gone 2 and 0 against the world's champeen Ricky Steamboat... this day, well this day was coming one way or another.. Now I'm not there to hear what you have to say, but I've got you and that SEWER RAT Paul E. all figured out. Ya'll making plans for a celebration already, see ya'll have made the mistake of well mistaking my new found kindness for weakness. It's an easy mistake to make, now ain't it? I've come on out on TV looking for hugs, apologizing for the man I was and all that, pandering to the fans as ya'll like to say... why I'm starting to sound a little less like the Terry Funk of old more and more each week.... but the thing is, I'm still the MAN who's driven a wedge between Austin Idol & Eddie Gilbert. I'm still the MAN who's beaten Eddie Gilbert time and time again... and when shoved into a corner, why I don't know if ya'll ready for what comes next. Monday Night, Mid South Coliseum, Memphis Tennessee, boys as kind as I've become, I ain't no bodies FOOL... (laughing a bit) ya'll see... ya'll see... "
[END VTR]
Commercial Break
We're back and we're headed to the ring for the television debut of DOOMSDAY! Chris Hamrick waits in the ring, looking scared to death of course.
Doomsday w/ Daryl Van Horne made short work of Chris Hamrick pinning him with a power bomb at just 1:01.
Van Horne turns to the camera after the match "Koko B. Ware, how fitting for you ALL have been warned.. TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK DOOMSDAY HAS ARRIVED! "
We're going back to back as Paul E. Dangerously leads out "Terrific" Terry Taylor & Greg "the Hammer" Valentine to face TD Steel & Tom Nash!
"Terrific" Terry Taylor & Greg "the Hammer" Valentine defeated TD Steel & Tom Nash when the Hammer made TD submit to a figure four in 3:34.
Paul E and his team join Lance at the interview set.
Lance Russell: " An impressive win here today from Taylor & Valentine as we head into the No.1 contenders tournament this Monday Night at the Coliseum..."

Paul E. Dangerously: " It was great, eh Lance? (smiling) Let's put it all on the table... this Monday Night we put EVERY TEAM in the USWA on notice, Taylor & Valentine are the REAL DEAL. Never has there ever been a better pairing. What you see right here in front of you are two of the MOST decorated professional wrestlers of all time in Greg Valentine & Terry Taylor. Two men who have held gold just about everywhere they've been, and two men united by ONE GOAL to win the NWA World Tag Team Championships. And to get those title shots, Fantastics we've gotta knock you two pretty boys off and take those USWA Tag Team Championships. Monday Night at the Coliseum we take our first step towards the world tag team championships when we stand tall against not one, not two but three of the toughest teams this sport has to offer. We know we're the best, but it's time to show the world we're the best. It's just that simple! "
We're taking a break when we return it's MAIN EVENT time with Jeff Jarrett & Koko B. Ware battling Brian Christopher & Wolfie D!
Commercial Break
We're back and we're catching up with our baby faces Koko B. Ware & Jeff Jarrett before the main event. Generic baby face stuff here. Jarrett urges the fans to come out Monday Night at support him as it's his last shot against Christopher, where as Koko promises to give it his all against Doomsday. So yeah.
Right before the main event we visit Corey with a run down of Monday's big card:
And our main event, a DOG COLLAR MATCH: Jerry "the King" Lawler goes to WAR against "the Beast From The East" Bam Bam Bigelow with "Boston Bad Boy" Tony Rumble suspended above the ring!
Main Event: Jeff Jarrett & Koko B. Ware defeated with Wolfie D & Brian Christopher at 11:49 when the Gangstas interfered prompting the DQ.
Notes: As Christopher came out he proclaimed that his music video was better than Too Cold Scorpio's. Super fun match, tons of heat building to the finish which saw the Gangstas (New Jack & Mustafa) & their random thugs hit the ring and beat down the faces. Brian Christopher snuck out during all of this. After the match, TRACY SMOTHERS hit the ring wielding a steel chair to chase the heels off. It should be noted that Wolfie D exited the ring the second Tracy Smothers hit the ring.
Commercial Break
Before we go into the wrap up, Jeff Jarrett, Koko B. Ware & Tracy Smothers are interviewed briefly. Jarrett says he's proud of his southern heritage just as proud as Tracy and mentions that these "Gangstas" have picked a fight with the wrong man.
We wrap things up with a run down of what we've seen on this program moments later. Or opening match saw Tracy Smothers successfully return to the area defeating Johnny Rotten with the jawjacker at just 2:28. Tag Team Action saw the Gangstas pick up a pinfall victory over David Young & the Yellow Jacket at just 1:11. Marcus Bagwell retained his TV5 Championship with that Fisherman's Suplex of his over the Gambler in 9:48. "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol picked up a rather impressive win over the mysterious Spellbinder off a swinging neckbreaker at 7:16. The monster known as Doomsday with a quick victory over Chris Hamrick with that power bomb of his at just 1:01. Greg Valentine & Terry Taylor with a dominant win over TD Steel & Tom Nash, when Valentine made Steel submit to the figure four at 3:34. And in our main event Jeff Jarrett & Koko Ware with a disqualification victory over Brian Christopher & Wolfie D thanks to the Gangstas interfering at 11:49.
Lance Russell: " For Corey Maclin & Dave Brown, I'm Lance Russell and we'll see you at the matches! "
