From ringside ...
Tony Schiavone: With only 6 days remaining until Starrcade, from Atlanta, Georgia in The Omni, the home of WCW, this is Monday Nitro, live on TNT! Hello wrestling fans, Tony Schiavone, and you heard me right. Only 6 days left as tonight is the final stop on the road to the 10th anniversary of Starrcade. Last week we ended with a big cliffhanger. The Black Scorpion finally getting revealed, but in a surprise choosing to not only unmask himself, but also attack Hulk Hogan instead of Sting. We understand that Brother Brutus is not here tonight, and we can confirm that, as a precautionary measure taken by commissioner James J Dillon. But Hulk Hogan is here and we will hear from him later tonight about what went down last week. Sting here as well. As you can see, not with me this week is Larry Zbyszko as he is busy preparing for Starrcade and will be in action tonight. In his place ... well ... it's, ummm ...
Scotty Flamingo: What kind of introduction is that?! Not that I need 1, but for anybody out there that doesn't know, I'm the great Scotty Flamingo and I'm here tonight to maybe add some life to this normally dull first hour. Just like I single handedly turned Saturday Night on TBS into the hottest wrestling show around, the talk of the town, I intend to do the same tonight. You watch and see what happens when the Nelson ratings come in. America catches Flamingo fever tonight, bank on it.
Tony Schiavone: That's the Nielsen ratings, and if there were any added viewers, I'm not certain it'd be in any part thanks to you.
Scotty Flamingo: Whatever, who cares! Nelson, Nielsen. You say potato, I say be quiet, nobody wants to hear you talk about potatoes. These people would rather hear from me tonight, but since I'm a nice guy, I'll let you tell the people what's in store for them. Go ahead. Go on.
Tony Schiavone: You are something else. Later tonight, in addition to Hulk Hogan breaking his silence on the Brother Brutus betrayal, we have a pair of interesting matches. The Nature Boy Ric Flair and Beautiful Bobby Eaton, but also Ravishing Rick Rude and Chris Benoit. 2 wrestlers you know quite well. I assume you'll be in their corner?
Scotty Flamingo: You know what they say about assuming, don't. My managerial days are behind me. I guided wrestlers to the top and it was entirely because of me, but that was enough. I'm not like some who stay out here, years past their welcome. I was a great wrestler, a great manager, and now I intend to be a great broadcaster. If you ask me, it won't be long until I'm the voice of WCW. The voice of a new generation, and the voice of the voiceless.
Tony Schiavone: If only you were voiceless. Also tonight, Starrcade throwback. We go back to Starrcade 1983, including a rematch from that show here in hour #1. You won't wanna miss that. But right now ...
Scotty Flamingo: I'll handle this. Ladies and gentlemen, the 1, the only, the World champion himself, Ravishing Rick Rude!
Rick Rude: Finally, a worthy introduction for a man of my caliber. Zbyszko's gone and not a moment too soon for me. But that's not why I'm out here. You see last week, Ric Flair promised an eye for an eye with me with regards to me giving him The Rude Awakening 2 weeks ago. That didn't happen last week because fortunately for me, I escaped as that mad man wielded a steel chair around like the lunatic that he is. So I realized that if I'm going to survive until Starrcade, I needed to get some protection out here. I need somebody to watch my back. Or make that, somebodies ...
... that's right gentlemen. You're looking at not just any men out here, I present to you the same 2 men who 10 years ago took out The Nature Boy Ric Flair before his match at Starrcade 1983. The same 2 men that had Flair beat down so bad that he had to announce his retirement. Unfortunately for them, Flair returned and they didn't have a chance to finish the job, but don't think they won't tonight if the opportunity arises. I present to you Cowboy Bob Orton and Dirty Dick Slater, and Flair, I'm warning you now. Stay out of my way, or they will get in yours.
Tony Schiavone: What about the match with Chris Benoit?
Rick Rude: Haha, what about it? What about it Schiavone? Listen, I'm not saying Chris Benoit isn't a good wrestler. But I mean come on. Last week it took Ric Flair 18 minutes to defeat him, and that impressed him. It didn't impress me. It didn't impress me at all because what I'm going to do is show Flair that I can not only beat this Benoit kid quicker, but simple math should tell you Flair that means I'm better than you! This Sunday at Starrcade, you're in for a Rude Awakening, that is, unless you get 1 tonight.
Tony Schiavone: Alright, Rick Rude, set for action later tonight with Chris Benoit. Right now we send it up to Dave Penzer for our opening match.

The Starrcade 1983 throwback begins with a competitor from the original Starrcade in action, Greg The Hammer Valentine. While having seemingly nothing to do with Dustin Rhodes, the commentators put over that Valentine specifically requested this match as a way of returning the favor to Johnny B. Badd for taking out Valentine's Starrcade 1983 opponent Rowdy Roddy Piper last month at the Clash of Champions. Badd, of course set to meet Rhodes in a return match Sunday with both having 1 victory over the other. Valentine manages to give Rhodes a good run for his money, focusing on the leg and readying for the Figure 4 Leglock. Rhodes however manages to kick Valentine away with his free leg as he turns and then starts building a comeback. Moments later Rhodes complete the comeback as he locks Valentine in for the running bulldog, driving him face first into the mat, followed by a 3 count for the win at 9 minutes. Rhodes win and the commentators stress that he will be joining them later on to talk about what happened last week on Nitro with Badd's attack on his father The American Dream Dusty Rhodes.

Tony Schiavone: Welcome back, and with us right now are the tag team that will challenge for the WCW Tag Team Title this coming Sunday at Starrcade, Hawk and Animal, The Road Warriors.
Animal: And we're the only team that those 2 pretty boys never avenged their loss to. The only tag team that beat them in the middle of that ring 1, 2, 3, and they never got their revenge for it. And just in case anybody out there doubts us, we have them later tonight in a 6 man tag team match, and we intend to show the world that we are the best team in WCW today. We've waited a long time now for this opportunity, and we fully intend to capitalize on it. Tell 'em Hawk!
Scotty Flamingo: Now wait just 1 second here. As a former manager of the WCW Tag Team champions, I think I'm a little more qualified to address this than the softballs being thrown by Bony Moronie over here. I think the reason you 2 haven't had that shot yet is you're not the team you used to be. Time has passed you by. And this Sunday at Starrcade, The Hollywood Blonds are going to expose that when they beat the 2 of you right in the middle of that ring.
Hawk: Welllllllllllllllllllll, it goes something like this. First of all, you(Flamingo)'d better be out of my sight by the time I finish talking. Second, do we still have it? Why don't you ask the Harlem Heat if we still have it? Or your supposed expert tag team who we beat out here 2 weeks ago? Better yet, ask The Hollywood Blonds themselves if we still have it. We certainly still had it when we fought and beat them within an inch of their lives at the Clash of Champions back in August. Only difference is that now? They got those belts, and we're gonna take 'em. Starrcade, 1993, remember it. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, what a rush!
Tony Schiavone: Alright, thank you gentlemen. I'm not sure where Scotty Flamingo went, but if you have that effect on him, please book Saturdays off because I could use the help. And with that, we send it back to David Penzer for more action.

Chippewa Charlie Norris is in action next against Joey Maggs in this contest. During the match, Flamingo returns and the commentators mention that a tournament will begin next week to crown a first ever WCW Cruiserweight champion, with Flamingo quick to point out that he was a 1 time Light Heavyweight champion here in WCW, as was the man picketing at ringside right now as he is on strike still, Brad Armstrong. In fact he was the final Light Heavyweight champion with Flamingo calling it a conspiracy as the win was never even acknowledged on WCW TV last summer, and instead they just let Brad fade away as champion. Another example of the authority sticking it to the man. That all said, Norris manages to put this match away after 5 minutes of action, pinning Maggs for a 3 after a flying double tomahawk chop. Flamingo asks if this means this Norris joker is in the tournament, but Schiavone says none of the names are yet official with wrestlers from all across the globe, notably Japan and Mexico, scheduled to be involved, but besides that, Norris is not a cruiserweight! (note: it goes without saying that this text was written with a Jerry Lynn vs Maggs cruiserweight match booked and as it was already written, I had no interest in rewriting everything and just changing as little as I could to accommodate a new match).
-- Second commercial break --
Tony Schiavone: Back with more WCW Monday Nitro, and with us now is The Natural Dustin Rhodes. Successful earlier against Greg The Hammer Valentine, and in just 6 days, you have your chance at revenge against Johnny B. Badd.
Dustin Rhodes: Ever since this started, I kept holding out hope that maybe you would see the error in your ways Johnny B. Badd. I had hope that maybe you would come around. What you did last week though killed any chance of that happening, and it made me realize that I have to bring out a new side in Dustin Rhodes myself. A more vicious side, a more unpredictable side, because NOBODY! Nobody does that to my family, and gets away with it. It's Roddy Piper's fault, it's my father's fault. Come Starrcade, you're going to realize that all this is your fault!
Scotty Flamingo: Well I for 1, tend to disagree with that. This is your fault Dustin. It's your fault and all those around you, because you people made Johnny B. Badd what he is. You all created the monster through your manipulative ways.
Dustin Rhodes: This is wrestling. It's a competitive sport. When I lost to him at Halloween Havoc, I didn't complain or make excuses. I went out there and I got back my momentum, and I defeated Johnny B. Badd last month to win the King of Cable for 1993. Now some people out here clearly can't take losing that well, probably why you're sitting here instead of still competing in the ring. Come Starrcade, I'm gonna make Johnny B. Badd wish he'd followed your lead because once I'm done that may not be possible. Because like I wish somebody had done to you Flamingo, I intend to silence Badd permanently.
Tony Schiavone: Thank you Dustin, and that match is this Sunday at Starrcade. Each man has won once, who will win the third? Right now we send it back to the ring for more action.

Strongest Arm Contest
vs
vs
The winner of the summer's Strongest Arm tournament is in action tonight, if you can call arm wrestling action, as the WCW U.S. champion Ice Train takes on Max Muscle. This serves as a precursor to Train's match with Diamond Dallas Page, the man that stole the physical U.S. Title belt 2 weeks ago and has been carrying it around as champion ever since, prematurely proclaiming himself to be the U.S. champion ahead of their match at Starrcade. Page does not have the belt tonight, with Flamingo saying he has sources that tell him DDP has it secured away in a safe place so that Train does not try anything. A table is set up in the ring for this, but Muscle does the usual heal stalling. Train tries leading fans in chant of "ham-burg-lar, ham-burg-lar", but it is even less successful than last week with Train clearly getting some weak material here to try and win over fans, although Schiavone tries to act like it is the most hilarious thing he has ever heard in his life. Finally they begin and it is a struggle, but Train wins. Right as he does though, Page throws powder into Train's eyes. The blinded Ice Train struggles to see as DDP shoves the tables out of the way, sizes him up, and hits the Diamond Cutter! Train is down, but not only that, he is out. The Diamond Cutter returns after a brief experimentation to The Diamond Clash over the past few weeks, although at minimum a new move added to his repertoire, and DDP could officially become U.S. champion at Starrcade that quickly.

Starrcade 1983 rematch
vs
vs
The 1983 throwback match tonight features Handsome Jimmy Valiant against The Great Kabuki. Technically the 1983 match was "Charlie Brown" vs Kabuki in a mask vs TV Title match, but the commentators just treat it as Valiant vs Kabuki. Flamingo says that when this match first took place, he could not even legally drink but thankfully he will be able to now so he can forget this terrible match once it is finished. Much of the match is Valiant showboating and Kabuki getting the advantage. While in a nerve hold, Valiant starts to make a big comeback. He starts dancing around and doing the theatrics, looking to be on his way to victory when from the back comes ...
Johnny B. Badd. Schiavone says that Badd has recently been laying out the WCW legends here with a different reason each week, and he seems to be about to repeat here tonight. He enters the ring as Valiant is ready to fight. Fans cheer as Badd has to back track and throw up his hands, but Valiant is not going to let him go that easy. Before he can do anything though, Kabuki is up and chops Valiant from behind. He kicks away, seemingly having won the approval of Badd, but when he turns, Badd lays him out with a low blow that drops Kabuki down like a sack of potatoes. Valiant gets to his knees as Badd starts shuffling about, before closing in with a lightning like left hook that just drops Handsome Jimmy and leaves him knocked out. The referee calls for the bell, officially a no contest. Badd goes out to the commentary table, takes a third headset and says that Dusty Rhodes wanted him to be the Boogie Woogie Man of the 90s out here, but judging by the Boogie Woogie Man of the 80s right now, he is just that much better and just like Valiant tonight, just like Dusty last week, and just like Roddy Piper last month, Dustin Rhodes will go down this Sunday at Starrcade.
-- Fourth commercial break --
Tony Schiavone: Welcome back. With us right now is the 1, the only, The Nature Boy Ric Flair. Later tonight, a match with Bobby Eaton, and your match with Rick Rude at Starrcade well documented. Earlier though Rude revealed Bob Orton and Dick Slater as 2 men to watch his back and make sure you don't get your hands on him before Sunday.
Ric Flair: To make sure that I!? Me!? Haha, woooooooo, don't think I don't know what the game you're playing out here is Rick Rude. You didn't just bring in 2 every day people, you brought in Cowboy Bob Orton and Dirty Dick Slater, the 2 men that nearly ended my career 10 years ago. This ain't about protection, this is about taking me out. You want to kill the threat before Starrcade hits, and I gotta give you credit. You picked 2 of the best. I gotta go in there tonight with Bobby Eaton, and now I gotta watch my back for them. Well played, and don't think I'm not expecting it because I know it's coming. As for your match, I could care less if you beat Chris Benoit in 5 seconds, 5 minutes, 5 hours, like you seem to think I do. It's not about doing the job fast, it's about doing it right, and you'll find that out this Sunday pal.
Tony Schiavone: What about this being the 10th anniversary of Starrcade? Does that give you added motivation?
Ric Flair: Every time I step into that ring I have added motivation! You don't get to be where I am today without knowing what it takes each and every time you go in there and tango. 10 years Schiavone, 10 glorious years. Starrcade. This is the premiere wrestling event anywhere in the world. The 1! That started it all! And this Sunday, just like it started with Ric Flair winning the World's Title, it's gonna continue with, yeah. Ric Flair, The Nature Boy, the limousine riding, jet flying, kiss stealing, wheeling, dealing, son of a gun! 10 years later, once again on top of the mountain. WOOOOOOOOOOO!
Tony Schiavone: Alright, Ric Flair, still to come in hour #2 against Bobby Eaton. Right now though, hour #1 main event time as we send it up to David Penzer.

2 Starrcade matches intersect tonight in this with 2 different Harley Race and Col. Robert Parker charges set to team with Yoshi Kwan and The Hollywood Blonds teaming against Cactus Jack and The Road Warriors. Parker is still out since taking a Sid Vicious power bomb 2 weeks ago on Nitro. Race however is all too present and wastes little time when the match starts to get involved. He yells to Cactus from the outside about how he is not good enough to be WCW champion and never will be. The finish comes with Cactus Jack brawling with Kwan while The Road Warriors brawl with The Blonds. Race tries getting involved by grabbing at Cactus' ankle, leading to him getting distracted and exiting the ring. Fans pop as Cactus closes in on Race who begs off, but Kwan gets out to make the save. Meanwhile inside of the ring, Steve Austin gets clotheslined outside to the floor. Animal then lifts Brian Pillman up onto his shoulders and Hawk comes off the top rope with a flying clothesline, The Doomsday Device. Animal covers and picks up the 3 for the win at 11 minutes, and The Road Warriors more importantly continue their momentum heading into the title shot at Starrcade in 6 days. The Blonds cannot seem to solve Hawk and Animal. Outside, Cactus manages to regain control on Kwan and sends him into the barricade. He sets his sights back onto Race, but from behind ...
... it's ...
It is Abdullah The Butcher! He attacks Cactus Jack and the commentators quickly put 2 and 2 together that he must be the third man in the triangle match at Starrcade. Schiavone is not sure though because Abdullah was also a part of the first Starrcade in 1983 and could just be here for the throwback to the first event. Referees are out, as well as Doug Dellinger and WCW security. Abdullah gets held back, and it certainly seems he is attacking Cactus with purpose here tonight. The commentators remind viewers that these 2 feuded earlier this year without resolution after their tag team dissolved, Abdullah disappearing from WCW before they could settle their issues. Flamingo thinks that Starrcade is the perfect time to settle those issues.
