NWA: Eastern Championship Wrestling presents ...
An Evening at the Original Sports Bar!
12.16.1993
from the Original Sports Bar
It is that time of the week once again for another ECW show at the Original Sports Bar. Full house of the Philly faithful hitting the booze and ready for the fisticuffs to begin. Tod Gordon opens the show with a little hyping of the next big show ... Holiday Hell.
First match of the evening has Christopher Michaels with his manager Hunter Robbins III. Turd comments abound before getting underway has the pair all kinds of upset. Opponent Chad Austin looks good here but the stalking Michaels looking for someone to pay for what was being said to his manager ends Austin's night with a superkick to the kisser. Doesn't mean a thing to the bar patrons as they razz the pair all the way to the back in near tears.
The ladies are up next with Molly McShane facing off against Malia Hosaka who is seconded by Pat Tanaka. A better than expected showing from both ladies with Hosaka being the more experienced of the pair. Tanaka smiles as Hosaka takes the win following a frankensteiner that brings the fans to their feet.
Next up is different with the technical stuff being thrown out the window as Tommy Cairo and the Tazmanaic Mako beat the living hell out of each other. Hard hitting to say the least with it spilling to the outside where things get even more brutal as Cairo and Mako are both busted open. Manager Tony Rumble gets involved several times, eating right hands for his trouble but for most of the fight, he seems preoccupied looking over his shoulder. Cairo with a big belly-to-back suplex is able to get the "W".
No rest for the ECW Heavyweight Champ as the Sandman gets the Broad Street Bully, Tony Stetson. Stetson with the early advantage, jumps all over the champion, pummeling him as much as the referee will allow. Jawing with the fans about how unimpressed he is with their champ, Stetson is on the receiving end of a big comeback ... and battering from the Sandman. Awful leg drop from the top rope and the Sandman picks up the win.
That should have been the end of things but the Rockin' Rebel hit the ring, making a beeline for the Beach Babe until intercepted by Sandy. Lots of talking between the two until Pat Tanaka with Malia Hosaka hit the ring. Looks like 2-on-1 against the Champ but Tanaka gets a mike and says he doesn't know what's going on between the two of them but if the Rebel's itching for a fight, why not give him one? Rebel tries to reason with Tanaka for the two of them to take out Sandman but the Bad Company member isn't listening as he tells Rebel is partner's in the other corner ... Tony Stetson! Rebel wants none of that but here he isn't given much of a choice as Tanaka and Sandman go on the attack. Sandman and Tanaka really shine in this one, using Stetson as a pinata, beating him all over the ring. Several pin attempts are broken up by Rebel who is able to get some time in, using his power to keep his team in the match. Sandman's surfboard comes into play as Stetson is powered through it, breaking it in half and Rebel being laid out by a shot to the noggin.
Rebel leaves Stetson in the ring and heads to the back only to be met by Tommy Cairo who comes out throwing right hands. The two battle their way into the back. In the ring, Tanaka's rolling wheel kick knocks Stetson into the awaiting Sandman's arms for a Russian leg sweep. There's the cover and Stetson does the deed for the second time in one evening.
Afterwards, a bit of a staredown between the pair when Tanaka offers his hand but is refused. A bit of coaxing from the Beach Babe and we get a handshake.
