Live from The Coliseum
December 9, 1993
8:00 pm eastern
Richmond, Virginia
From ringside ...
Tony Schiavone: From Richmond, Virginia, this is WCW Monday Nitro, coming to you live on TNT from The Coliseum. Tonight, Sting continues in his quest for answers about The Black Scorpion, plus the fall out from last week's ending when we saw the epic return of the monster Sid Vicious. Hello wrestling fans, I'm Tony Schiavone alongside The Living Legend Larry Zbyszko, and tonight Legend, 2 championship matches. Shane Douglas to challenge Lord Steven Regal for the WCW TV Title in the main event here for hour #1, and then later on, The Hollywood Blonds coming off their non title win last week, they get their shot at the WCW Tag Team Title, held by 2 Cold Scorpio and Marcus Alexander Bagwell. But what about this. We will have word later on from Hulk Hogan himself in regards to the Starrcade match with Sting, and speaking of which, over the weekend on TBS, Ric Flair made the offer to Sting. Let me tag with you, let me be your partner, and tonight it will be Sting and Flair against Harlem Heat.
Larry Zbyszko: Deception can very easily masquerade under the guise of trust in the world of wrestling. If Sting suspects Ric Flair, as he should, he is the last man you should want in your corner in that tag team match. Flair above anybody else in this business, he earned the nick name "the dirtiest player in the game" for a reason. Tonight, he could remind us all just what that reason is.
Tony Schiavone: And then also tonight, Cactus Jack to go 1 on 1 with Yoshi Kwan. Kwan is thus far 2 and 0 vs Cactus Jack, 2 arguably underhanded victories, but 2 victories never the less. Plus after last week, the WCW U.S. champion demanded it and he gets it. Ice Train to go 2 on 1 with both Tex Slazenger and Shanghai Pierce in a handicap match.
Larry Zbyszko: And while he may be undefeated now, this would be a tall order for any man, even Ice Train. He may have looked good last week against them back to back, but let's see what he can do against both at the same time. A real test for the U.S. champion.
Tony Schiavone: In addition, as we said, in just a moment out here, the WCW champion Big Van Vader and manager Harley Race. No doubt they will address the return of Sid Vicious last Monday, but right now ...
... we want to bring in the commissioner of WCW, Mr. James J Dillon. And the wrestling world has been buzzing all week. People want to know, who gets the shot at Big Van Vader at Starrcade?
J.J. Dillon: Well it seems to like there are 2 logical contenders here. First you have Sid Vicious, who while having just served a lengthy suspension and not having wrestled since Halloween Havoc, he was the #1 contender at the time of that suspension. But then you have Cactus Jack, who has certainly been trying to make a case that he is deserving of an opportunity at the title.
Larry Zbyszko: So which of the 2 will it be?
J.J. Dillon: That's why I'm here. On December 29, at Starrcade, Big Van Vader will defend the WCW Title against ... Sid Vicious! (the fans cheer) Like I said, he was #1 contender at the time of his suspension, and he did defeat Cactus Jack, so it would only be fair to give Mr. Vicious exactly what he deserves. That of course being this opportunity at Vader at Starrcade.
Tony Schiavone: And what about Cactus Jack? Would he then meet the winner?
J.J. Dillon: Ummmmm, I ... don't think so. I mean Cactus Jack, he's a good wrestler and everything. But you know, I've stood in the corner of a once great champion, The Nature Boy Ric Flair. I've watched as he fought men like Harley Race, Dusty Rhodes, Terry Funk. Cactus Jack just really isn't at that level, the level of any of those men, nevermind the champion. You know what I mean? I tend to side with the opinion of Mr. Race out here, Cactus Jack is just not championship material. (the fans start booing) But I mean, I don't know. We'll see what happens. Who's champion after Starrcade. I mean I would expect a large part of that would also depend on Cactus Jack winning his match as well, which I will be announcing next week as there are still i's to dot and t's to cross.
Tony Schiavone: Alright, J.J. Dillon, the commissioner of WCW. And right now (Vader's music interrupts), well there you hear it. Thanks commissioner, and looks like we won't have to wait long out here.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The WCW champion Big Van Vader and Harley Race are out and enter the ring to boo'ing from the fans. Race takes a mic and readies to address the end of Nitro last week.
Harley Race: Let me tell all of you people something! This man right here is the WCW champion! That means that he is the best at what he does. That means that he is #1. Do you understand? Do all of you people get that? It doesn't matter if it's Sting, Cactus Jack, Ron Simmons, or even you Sid! Even you. You left. You couldn't handle the heat, so you got out of the kitchen. But do you know why you're back here? Do you know why you're allowed to walk that aisle to this ring in WCW? Because of this man right here! The only reason you are back is Big Van Vader ensured you could return! And why? And why would Vader do that for you? Because you were a lingering outlier on the otherwise impeccable track record. A blemish on perfection. A question mark because everywhere we went. Everywhere we would go. People would ask who would win between Vader and Sid Vicious? Who is the 1 true master of the power bomb? We can do this 1 of 2 ways Vader. Sid! We can do this 1 of 2 ways. Way number 1, who is the better man between 2 athletes? By the books. By the rules. Way number 2, an all out war! No turning back, no prisoners. Come out here now and tell us Sid. How's it gonna be Sid?
Instead of Sid, fans boo because here comes The Colonel, Sid's manager Robert Parker. Brought in by Harley Race back in September to smooth over tensions between Vader and Sid at the time and try to control Sid, the role became ultimately irrelevant when Sid got suspended. Race and Parker shake hands, all smiles.
Harley Race: Mr. Parker, haha. Pleased to have you out here. A man of your finer tastes.
Col. Robert Parker: Well thank you Mr. Race, you're, I say, you're a much respected individual yourself out here. I think everybody here in Richmond, Virginia should stand and give this man an ovation that he so greatly deserves! Come on now and stand, I say stand! Show respect for Harley Racccce!
The fans just boo, pissing off Vader. He starts to shuffle around and yells over the ropes, asking the fans "Who's the man?". They just boo louder as Race feels disrespected.
Col. Robert Parker: Now don't mind, I say, don't mind these people Mr. Race. See here, the people of Richmond, they're of a lower class than you or me, ya understand? They see gentlemen like ourselves and like an animal backed up in a cage, their only response is to lash out. They want what we have, but oh so sorry, cause you all are not half the man that this man here is. Ya understand?
Harley Race: Mr. Parker, pleasantries and these stupid people here in Richmond aside, we have business out here to talk about. You of course represent Mr. Vicious, and I think it's only fair that my man here gets an answer. This is 1 of the biggest matches ever for this title right here. This is the biggest title defense by far that my man Vader will take on. And I think it's only just that your man has the courtesy to answer us, given of course that it was in fact Vader that got him back into the WCW.
Col. Robert Parker: Now hold on here, hold on. You know I didn't come out here to create any trouble now, I say, that's the last thing I have on my mind, ya understand? I think Sid Vicious is a smart enough individual that he done know better and we can do this-
Big Van Vader (grabbing the mic to interrupt): I wanna know, what is it?! WHAT, IS, IT?
... the music hits ...
Out steps Sid! A huge pop from the fans as he heads to the ring with a purpose. Race and Parker both have looks of panic on their faces. Vader looks on, unmoved by this all.
Col. Robert Parker: Well there we go. Now let's here-
Sid suddenly grabs the Colonel by the throat to a big pop. Race steps back as Sid lifts Parker up and chokeslams him down to the mat!! Race and Vader leave the ring as Sid calls them back. Vader seems to want it, but Race keeps telling him "not now!". Parker gets up behind Sid, but the big man turns and kicks his manager in the gut. Hunched over, Parker gets pulled into position. Sid lifts him up and powerbomb to The Colonel! Richmond is going crazy right now as the commentators make mention that it would seem the Sid-Parker experiment is officially history. So too however may be Vader's title reign on December 29 at Starrcade because the 2 forces will collide with the title at stake.
-- First commercial break --
Tony Schiavone: Alright, welcome back. Hot start to WCW Monday Nitro here on TNT. With us right now is the legendary Bullet Bob Armstrong, patriarch of a great wrestling family. Last week here, your son Brad deciding to go "on strike" until he gets suitable competition.
Bob Armstrong: I was watching last week, and I can't tell you how embarrassing that was to me and my family. Brad used to be a fine, young wrestler out here. He had all the promise to really do something here in WCW, and then sometime a couple months ago, that all changed. His attitude soured. And you know, our family was all set for Thanksgiving dinner, Brad wasn't working that day. He wasn't set to be on the Clash of Champions. What does he do though? He cancels on us, and decides to go anyway, just to throw himself on TV. Try and steal the spotlight. He won't take my calls, and I get here, he's nowhere to be found. This all has nothing to do with the competition here in WCW if you ask me, it's all about Brad's attitude. What I want tonight is, Brad, if you can hear me right now, please listen. I want you in that ring, tonight. And no, I don't mean for a match. You're my son. What I want is to get to the bottom of this. Get an understanding of just what is going on your head. So later tonight, I'm going to go out to that ring and I hope you extend me, your father, the courtesy of an answer of what all of this is about.
Larry Zbyszko: We don't even know if he's here, do we Tony?
Tony Schiavone: No, since he's "on strike", your guess is as good as mine. But Bullet Bob, we thank you for that, and hopefully you can get this situation resolved later on tonight. Right now, up to the ring for tonight's opening match.

The opening match tonight stems from this past weekend on WCW Saturday Night. Scotty Flamingo, manager of Bobby Eaton and Chris Benoit, provided commentary and wasted no time running down The Nasty Boys. Once they heard of Flamingo's antics, they requested this match here tonight. The match sees The Nasties trying to get their hands on Flamingo, but unsuccessfully as Eaton and Benoit prevent it. A back and forth match going around 9 minutes, until Eaton misses with The Alabama Jam on Saggs. Hot tags to both Benoit and Knobbs keep the action going. Knobbs scoops Benoit up and tags Saggs before a powerslam, followed by an elbowdrop from the top rope from Saggs. A 3 count and the win follow for The Nasty Boys. Afterward, they go after Flamingo, but he escapes to the back. The Nasty Boys with an important win over the former Tag Team champions, looking to maybe secure themselves 1 of their own.
-- Second commercial break --
Tony Schiavone: Welcome back to Nitro, here on TNT. With me now is Diamond Dallas Page, and your bodyguard is back this week. We heard comments from you last week about the U.S. champion Ice Train, who we will see in action later tonight against both Tex Slazenger and Shanghai Pierce in a handicap match.
Dallas Page: As far as I'm concerned, every match that Ice Train competes in out here is a handicap match if ya know what I'm saying? He might have the muscles, but when it comes to the brains, he's severely lacking. So far, he's just went in there with a bunch of dingleberries. No real competition. I mean think about it. He beat what? Who did he beat for that title?
Tony Schiavone: Sid Vicious actually.
Dallas Page: And that's supposed to impress me? Are you kidding me? I mean I know What's Eating Gilbert Grape doesn't come out for a couple more weeks, but if anybody wants the sneak preview, just go back and watch that match. Who else? What, Ron Simmons? Please. That guy's so out of it that he got drawn by the computer to challenge Vader, loses, he takes his ball and goes home. You don't see Max here doing that? And speaking of that, the only reason Ice Train beat him was that stupid Computer Contenders Challenger thing. You give Max time to prep, and it's done like dinner. You draw my name out of the computer, takes me 5 minutes instead of 4 with preparation. Bottom line, Ice Train needs a real challenge.
Larry Zbyszko: I certainly don't see 1 out here.
Dallas Page: Hey Zbyszko, Larryland called. Said to tell you it's not 1983 anymore. We're getting ready for the 10th anniversary of Starrcade, not the first Starrcade when you were actually relevant. And if you got a problem? Take it up with Max here. Yeah? Didn't think so.
Larry Zbyszko: Hey, you just name the time and the place pal!
Tony Schiavone: Please, we have enough going on out here. Right now though it's back up to the ring for more action as Nitro continues here on TNT.

Fresh off of a successful debut last Monday on Nitro against Sgt. Buddy Lee Parker, Chippewa Charlie Norris is back in action tonight against The Gambler. Gambler pulls out a deck of cards, requesting Norris pick an ace. Norris successfully picks out an ace and holds it up to a big pop, upsetting Gambler and causing him to try and cheap shot Norris. Norris is ready though, dominates, and after landing several big chops off the war dance, he finishes Gambler off with a flying forearm like double chop and a 3 count. Norris wins again with the commentators wondering if he could become a force here in WCW.
-- Third commercial break --
Tony Schiavone: Welcome back to Nitro. With us now is the World champion Ravishing Rick Rude, set for a huge match at Starrcade against The Nature Boy Ric Flair, with that title on the line.
Rick Rude: You know, you would think that with defending this title at Starrcade against Ric Flair in his hometown, I would be a little more worried. That couldn't be further from reality though. See, while I'm concerned with Ric Flair and that match, he's off worrying about proving his innocence to Sting. He cares more about the people than he does this right here. And that's why come Starrcade, I'm going in the same way I enter. And that's with this belt around my waist.
Larry Zbyszko: Maybe you underestimate the people though, which is no surprise that you would let ego get in your way. If he does what he does for them, wouldn't wrestling for that title in Charlotte, North Carolina potentially be a difference maker?
Rick Rude: Look Zbyszko, these people mean absolutely nothing to me! They mean nothing because they are nothing. These Richmond rednecks are no different from the North Carolina nobodies. See, I went in there last week and said I'd beat Piper. What did I do? I beat Piper! Dustin Rhodes? Same thing. You Zbyszko? I beat you too. The point is no matter who it is, everybody in that dressing room will figure it out sooner or later. In the end, I make everybody pay ... the Ravishing way.
Larry Zbyszko: Can I start having a say in the guests we get out here?
Tony Schiavone: We'll see about that next week. Rick Rude though, sure to have his eye on our main event later tonight. Right now though, championship action as we head to the ring for the main event here on hour #1 of WCW Monday Nitro, live on TNT.

WCW TV Title match

Will the third time be a charm for Shane Douglas as he challenges Lord Steven Regal tonight for the TV Title? First meeting 2 weeks ago from the Computer Contenders Challenge ended in a draw with Douglas literally a second from victory. Second time at the Clash of Champions saw Regal win via count out thanks to the interference of Jean Paul Levesque. Douglas got revenge on Levesque last week by defeating him, bringing us to here. Regal heads out for the match with a quick break before the match.
-- Fourth commercial break --
WCW Saturday Night Preview for December 14
- Dustin Rhodes in action
- The Z Man in singles competition
- Diamond Dallas Page will be there
- The main event, 6 man tag team action featuring The Road Warriors
- All that and more, this Saturday at 6:05 eastern on TBS.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Douglas is out and in the ring. Fast action and as the commentators announced last week, no time limit this time. During the match, Douglas goes to dropkick the champ but Regal pulls the referee in front of him, and he gets blasted, going down and rolling out to the floor. Douglas continues on the offense, hitting Regal with the belly to belly suplex, but no referee. It is at this point that Levesque comes down, but before he can touch Douglas, he is ready and blocks the punch to start hammering back. After a belly to belly suplex for Levesque, a clothesline takes him out to the floor. Regal meanwhile has time to pull out a foreign object, but Zbyszko sees it, while Douglas does not. Regal readies for Douglas to turn and rears back, but Zbyszko, now on the apron, grabs the hand. Zbyszko grabs the foreign object and tosses it to Douglas over Regal's head. He applies it to his hand and blasts Regal! Douglas throws the foreign object to the floor while Zbyszko goes back to the ringside commentary table. A second referee races down as Douglas covers and makes the 3! Shane Douglas has done it! He is the new WCW TV champion. A ringside attendant hands the new referee the belt, who passes it to Douglas. Before the announcement can come though, the original referee is in, grabs the title away from Douglas and gives it back to Regal. He saw it all! The ruling comes that Regal retains the title as the original decision gets reversed to a DQ win for him. Zbyszko cannot believe this, but Levesque is up and has the proof from the floor. He hands it to the original referee, who shows it to the new ref, seemingly in full agreement. Zbyszko is in arguing for Douglas, but to no avail. Levesque straps the belt around Regal's waist, who waves to the crowd. Zbyszko, behind them, grabs the foreign object from the referee and applies to the hand. He grabs Levesque and turns him into a knockout right, while Regal gets out of dodge on the floor, still wonky having been hit himself. Zbyszko challenges him to come back as the fans cheer him on, but not tonight.
-- Fifth commercial break --
Tony Schiavone: We are back, and just about ready to send it over to Eric Bischoff and The Brain for hour #2, but would you to care to comment on what we just saw it out here.
Larry Zbyszko: You're damn right I would! I'm sick of the guys like that idiot Regal, thinking they can do anything they want out here! We've got jerks like Rick Rude, Dallas Page, but this guy's been on my nerves for weeks now. Let me tell you something Regal. If you have any guts, forget the guys in the back. Step in that ring with me Regal. You and Pepe Lepew have pushed the envelope too far out here, and sooner or later, this ends, and I'll be the man to put a stop to it!
Tony Schiavone: Alright, well we see what they have to say about those words. Right now though with hour #2, Eric Bischoff! Bobby The Brain Heenan! WCW Monday Nitro! Live, on T! N! T!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Eric Bischoff: Woah, is it ever hot out here tonight in Richmond or what?! What a huge start tonight with hour #1, and it's only going to continue with hour #2 right now Brain. Tonight, Hulk Hogan! He's busy filming Thunder In Paradise, but we will hear from him later on. Also, this is WCW! This is where the big boys play! And tonight, Sting and Ric Flair to team up against the Harlem Heat! Over the weekend on Saturday Night, these 4 having an altercation, and now it all goes down, and you gotta ask yourself. Will we see The Black Scorpion? No sign of him last week, although if your name is Brother Brutus, the heat is on out here. You can see the thermostat about to shatter for him. Sting doesn't trust him, nobody trusts him, and if it isn't Flair out here, then hey! Brutus, you've got some explaining to do.
Bobby Heenan: That's just it though. You're looking past Ric Flair. The dirtiest player in the game? This could all be a setup tonight. How do we know Sting doesn't get out there and Flair immediately jumps him? Who's to say that Harlem Heat aren't in his back pocket? That's the thing with Flair, you never see it coming, and you never know who. Sting might think he sees it coming and getting Flair out there clears his name of The Black Scorpion, but so what? This is Ric Flair. Maybe this is all not even about The Scorpion in the first place and Flair's just been waiting for this moment.
Eric Bischoff: And you have to ask the why question then Brain? What does Flair have to gain from this?
Bobby Heenan: No Sting, then no Hogan. No Hogan and no Sting suddenly makes this place a lot more empty for a guy like slick Ric should he get that World Title at Starrcade.
Eric Bischoff: Well I personally think it's Brutus, a hired assassin from, well, you know where. Typical dirty, under handed type of shady dealings they're known for there. I mean even the government's going after them, that's the type of activity that goes on over there behind closed doors. Brother Brutus just typifies that in my opinion, trying to be covert and doing all of this in the shadows. Also tonight though in the ring, WCW Tag Team Title match, 2 Cold Scorpio and Marcus Alexander Bagwell against The Hollywood Blonds. Yoshi Kwan tries to go to 3-0 against Cactus Jack. All that and more, but right now let's send it over to Missy Hyatt, standing by with the man of the hour here, The Nature Boy himself, Ric Flair.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Missy Hyatt: Thanks Eric, and with me now is the 1 and only Nature Boy himself, Ric Flair. Tonight, you team with Sting in what could be the last chance you'll have to clear your name before Starrcade in The Black Scorpion scandal, and turn all your focus towards your World Title match with Ravishing Rick Rude.
Ric Flair: Missy, I don't know how many times I gotta go through this. Let's look at the evidence out here. Black Scorpion appears, hey, it's only natural you suspect Ric Flair. I did last time, and I did it to perfection. I'm not hiding anything there because what the people didn't understand, it wasn't about any 1 match. It was about getting into Sting's head to get back that World Title. It could've been anybody, it just happened to be Sting. Then you've got Rage of The Wrecking Crew getting unmasked as 1 of 2 Scorpions. Let me repeat that, Rage of The Wrecking Crew. Now you got me out here, the limousine riding, WOOOOOOOO!, jet flying, kiss stealing, wheeling, dealing son of a gun! Champagne, caviar, the finest women in the world! You think I can't do better than Rage of The Wrecking Crew? Please.
Missy Hyatt: What about your match with Rick Rude then at Starrcade? That's only 3 weeks away now.
Ric Flair: You hear that Rude?! 3 weeks pal! 3 long, grueling weeks. I'm gonna offer up a suggestion, and take it from me cause I've been in your position many times. 10th anniversary. I main evented Starrcade in 1983. I did in 1984. 1985. 1986. The only Starrcade I wasn't involved in the World Title match was last year, and 1991? The time I wasn't here? They're doing Battle Bowl, they don't know what the hell's going on without The Nature Boy. Battle Bowl at Starrcade? Are you serious?! But the point is that whether it was Harley Race, Dusty Rhodes, Nikita Koloff, Ron Garvin, Sting, they all bowed in the end to Ric Flair. December 29, your name gets added to that long list pal, and I guarantee you that you're just next, but you're not last. Space Mountain's still going strong and I hope you're watching tonight Rude because tonight is just a sampling of what's in store for you when you step up to tango with the 1 and only, The Nature Boy, Ric, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Flair!
Missy Hyatt: Alright, hopefully Rick Rude was listening because even with all this Black Scorpion stuff, Ric Flair seems pretty focused to me. Back to you Eric.

WCW Tag Team Title match
vs
vs
Last week, The Hollywood Blonds defeated WCW Tag Team champions 2 Cold Scorpio and Marcus Alexander Bagwell in a non title match. Tonight they get their shot at the titles and a chance to become 2 time champions, but they will have to do so without manager Col. Robert Parker in their corner. The man that turned around the fortunes out here after a losing streak will not be in their corner for this after the Sid Vicious incident at the top of hour #1, meaning they will have to win this match all on their own. The challengers manage to isolate Scorpio en route to several close 2 counts, but a mistake leads to Bagwell taking the hot tag. He comes in with a flurry of offense on both Blonds, that brings Scorpio back in. He manages to get Brian Pillman, the legal man out, leading the referee to focus on getting Scorpio out. Bagwell hits a fisherman's suplex into a cover on Steve Austin, but Pillman gets back in to kick and break it up. Scorpio was almost out, but tries to get back in, only distracting the referee. Bagwell goes to send Pillman into the ropes, but he reverses it. Pillman leapfrogs as Bagwell runs under and then drops to the mat so he can go over, but runs into Austin. He lifts Bagwell up into the Stun Gun, but Pillman is up to give added assistance with a spike Stun Gun. The referee turns as Scorpio finally is out, but Austin covers. Scorpio notices the cover and tries to get in, but he is too late. The referee counts 3 and there are new WCW Tag Team champions! The Hollywood Blonds have regained the titles, becoming 2 time champions, and unlike the previous title match to close hour #1, there will be no reversal here. 5 months after losing the titles, The Hollywood Blonds are back on top of WCW's formidable tag team division.
-- Sixth commercial break --
Missy Hyatt: With me now is The Natural Dustin Rhodes. Last week, Johnny B. Badd cost you the chance to become the World champion in your match with Ravishing Rick Rude. Having had a week to think about that, what do you have to say to him tonight?
Dustin Rhodes: A week?! Missy Hyatt, I knew what I had to say to Johnny B. Badd the second he did that to me. You see, everything, it all makes sense now to me. The rage, the jealousy, the anger. You're a man divided Johnny B. Badd, and there's no saving you any more. What you did to Roddy Piper was 1 thing, and I can only imagine what's going to happen to you when he's ready to come back and give you what you deserve, but you'll have to deal with me first! Don't worry though Hot Rod, because I'll save a little something for you, just enough that you can have a little fun with it because you know what they say, first come, first served. And I'm going to bring it to Johnny B. Badd the first chance that I get!
Missy Hyatt: I'm not even sure if he's here tonight. My sources tell me he's not scheduled to be at least.
Dustin Rhodes: Well that's good, for him that is. If he were here tonight and I got my hands on him, I think you'd see that I'm like my father in ways beyond just sharing the Rhodes name. Since you're not though, I have a little proposition for you Badd. December 29, Starrcade. You won at the Havoc, I won at the Clash of Champions. Let's finish this thing. Let's see who is really the better man. I'm not making excuses, but that first time, I didn't know what kind of man you really were. Now that I know though, you can expect to see another side of Dustin Rhodes. And that's the side that calls Texas home, where everything's bigger, including them beatin's boy. And the 1 you're gonna get, I guarantee is Texas sized in every way.
Missy Hyatt: Alright, thanks Dustin Rhodes, and we certainly know what he wants for Christmas, a match with Johnny B. Badd at Starrcade. I think I'd prefer a mink coat myself. Eric, back to you.

Handicap match

Last week's Nitro saw the U.S. champion Ice Train wrestle both Tex Slazenger and Shanghai Pierce in back to back singles matches, running a gauntlet. Train went through Slazenger with ease, and then similarly with Pierce, but Slazenger came back in with a bullrope to cause a DQ. The team then laid Train out with the bullrope, setting up for tonight's handicap match. The bell rings and despite the 2 on 1 advantage, Ice Train dominates this match. "The Texicans" get a brief advantage due to the numbers advantage, but it does not last as Train ducks a double clothesline attempt and instead double clotheslines both of them. The finish sees Train hit Slazenger with a scoop powerslam, but Pierce breaks it up. Train quickly takes him out when after firing him into the ropes, he drives him down with a running low angle shoulder block. Train covers him and gets the 3 count just under 5 minutes, but no time to celebrate. From the back comes DDP and Max Muscle, with Max getting into the ring. He waits for Train to turn and locks him up, driving him into the mat with a full nelson slam. Train completely no sells it like his name was Hulk Hogan, getting right back up. Page tells Max to turn around, and when he does Train scoops him up and delivers a big forward slam. DDP takes off, but is not alone. The referee informs Train that Page has taken the U.S. Title belt! Train exits the ring and leaves in pursuit of Page, already at the back.

As announced earlier by The Bullet Bob Armstrong during hour #1, he is back out here now and in the ring. He wants answers from his son Brad tonight on his recent behavior, and he intends to get them.
Bob Armstrong: I've never really been a man for many words. I like to do my talking right here, in this ring. Punching, kicking, whatever it takes! Tonight though, I can't do that. Rather than man to man, this is also father to son. So Brad, I know you're here. I've seen you picketing out and about in that crowd tonight. Come on now boy. You get down here, and you get down here now cause we gotta talk. Come on now! You won't return my calls, you won't give me the respect that I deserve, so I'm returning the favor. You won't talk to me in private, we're gonna do this out here, in front of all these people. Now where are you?
Finally Brad Armstrong appears. He walks through the crowd and hops over the metal guard rail. He has a picket sign with him that reads "W.C.W., World Circus Wrestling". As he enters, he starts pumping it up for the crowd, but only get more booing from that.
Bob Armstrong: What is this right here? This, this ... crap right here? WCW, World Champion-, or 'scuse me, World Circus Wrestling. I guess cause this is all some big circus sideshow to you, is that right? All the guys in the back there that work their butts off to entertain these fans? Let me tell you something right here, this? (grabs the sign away) This is crap right here. (The Bullet breaks the wood stick part over his knee and then rips up the sign portion to a big pop) What the hell's the matter with you boy? You won't return my calls, you won't come to Thanksgiving dinner with your family. Your family Brad! What's the matter with you, huh boy?
No answer from Brad, beyond saying off mic "I'm on strike".
Bob Armstrong: Oh, you're on strike, so you can't speak, is that it? You can't talk to me out here? Last I checked, that wasn't no union back there, and you're spitting in the face of every hard working man, woman, and child that is in a union, and their God given right to protest! You're making a mockery out of not only the Armstrong name, but everything that this country stands for! I don't get it, is this all supposed to be funny out here? Some big joke?! Well I'm not laughing. World Circus Wrestling? You're not only insulting the wrestlers back there, but you're insulting me and how I make a living. The same living that put food in your mouth boy.
Armstrong is no longer paying attention. Leaning on the ropes and making eyes with girls out in the crowd, or trying to. Heenan plays along on commentary pretending to have fallen asleep and making snoring noises.
Bob Armstrong: Hello? Boy, you'd better listen to me when I talk to you!
The Bullet grabs and forcibly turns Brad, which briefly gets his attention.
Bob Armstrong: Where's your head at boy?! What's the matter with you?! You don't wanna listen to me out here, maybe you'll listen to me back there, 'cause I ain't above breaking out the old strap if ya know what I'm saying! Ya, I'm sure you remember that from your days. Growing up. Cause clearly you've still got some growing up to do! You wanna criticize these fans for not liking what you do? Or younger wrestlers for trying to bring it to the next level out here? Look in the mirror boy! What the heck do you think you're doing right now?! Sure don't seem like wrestling to me. If they step it up, you just gotta bring your game up to ... Brad? Are you even listening to me? Brad?!
Brad has again stopped paying attention. This leads to The Bullet turning Brad, this time to a slap and a big pop from fans. That got his attention.
Bob Armstrong: What, you wanna fight me boy? You wanna fight me?! Go ahead boy! Go ahead. I'll whoop you just like I used to do in the wood shed! You will not disrespect me! You will not disrespect your family! You will not disrespect the fans of WCW! What you gotta say now boy? You gonna wrestle or what? You gonna be the Brad Armstrong that wrestles and fights to get his way, or some sissy boy that goes on strike? Some coward. What's it gonna be boy? Answer me boy!
Brad suddenly calms down and just shakes his head no. He exits the ring to booing from the crowd, leading to the Bullet turning his back to the entrance ands yelling down for Brad to get back in the ring. Brad starts having words with fans, but that is not all ...
... from the back ...
Johnny B. Badd?! What the hell is he doing here? The Bullet turns and gets drilled with a low blow from Badd. Brad sees it, but opts to do nothing. He just holds up his hands and mutters to the camera audio "hey, I'm on strike". Pathetic according to Bischoff, who also wonders why Badd is even out here. Heenan says that Badd must just doing this for fun now, maybe looking to make a statement against a legend like Bob Armstrong. He hoists the Bullet up onto his shoulders in a fireman's carry, but before he can do anything, Dustin Rhodes is running out from the back. Badd drops Armstrong and gets outside the ring. Rhodes challenges him to get back in there, but to no avail. Bischoff thinks Badd will have to answer for all this sooner or later as Rhodes checks on the Bullet, maybe as soon as Starrcade. Not to mention Brad Armstrong just watching as his own father takes the low blow like that and walks away because he is "on strike".

Missy Hyatt: Welcome back to Monday Nitro, and with me now are Hawk and Animal, The Road Warriors. Earlier tonight, we saw a changing of the guard at the top of the WCW tag team division with The Hollywood Blonds regaining the title.
Animal: And you know what Missy? The Hollywood Blonds may have avenged a lot of losses so far. All these tag teams that beat them, they seem to be returning the favor now. But there's 1 tag team that beat them that they haven't dealt with, and that's us! See, back in August at the Clash of Champions, we beat those 2 wanna be movie stars in a match that at the time, was fresh off them losing the belts the first time. Unfortunately for us, a team called Harlem Heat had other plans for us and we got a little sidetracked from our quest to get the WCW Tag Team title. But now that that's over and done with, the timing couldn't be better. Here we stand, they have the belts back and want to right their wrongs. There's no bigger blemish on that record than their loss to us. They haven't beat us and we want to extend the invitation for them to try come Starrcade. Tell 'em Hawk!
Hawk: Welllllllllllllllllllllllllll. It goes a little something like this. See, we're not taking anything away from Steve Austin or Brian Pillman. They're great wrestlers in there, but they're not us! Hollywood and Chicago are 2 very different places, and when we saw them collide before, there wasn't but 1 outcome. Now they're back on top of the hill, we beat them before, they never beat us! If they wanna prove to everybody that they are the real deal, then winning those belts tonight was just the start. Until you 2 West Hollywood Blonds decide to leave Santa Monica Boulevard and fight us, you're just paper champions to us. And it just so happens Missy, our calendar is wide open on December 29. So Blonds, let's make a date of it! You bring those titles ... we'll bring the season's beatings.
Missy Hyatt: So I think that means a challenge has been made for Starrcade. Anything else you have to say to them?
Hawk: OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, WHAT A RUSH!
Missy Hyatt: I guess not. Back to you Eric, maybe The Brain can figure that 1 out.

Third time was not the charm earlier tonight for Shane Douglas, but Cactus Jack has a similar opportunity as he faces the undefeated Yoshi Kwan in a second rematch. The first time they met, Kwan won thanks to outside interference. The second meeting ended in a count out win when Cactus left the ring in pursuit of Harley Race. Perhaps some added motivation tonight after WCW commissioner J.J. Dillon agreed with what Race had been saying for weeks, Cactus is not championship material. He looks to prove them wrong here as the action eventually spills outside. Rather than bring it back to the ring, Cactus brings Kwan over to the staging area. He lays out Kwan as Race tells the referee to do something. Neither man wants to get in Cactus' way though as he climbs up to the elevated part of the stage. After a "bang! bang!" for fans, Cactus leaps off with an elbow drop that drives into Kwan, laying on the floor. Race is beside himself as the referee calls for extra help out here and sounds the bell for a no contest. Win, lose, it does not matter in the face of the dangerous goings on here. Assistance is out for both men, but Cactus refuses a stretcher, shoving it away and going right back to working on Kwan on the ground. Doug Dellinger and WCW security are there and easily manage to restrain the spent Cactus from that match, separating him from the possibly injured Kwan. Update to follow after the break.

Eric Bischoff: We are back, and that chaos before the break has been sorted out. No word on the condition of either Cactus Jack or Yoshi Kwan after that, but you can be sure that their issue is far from being settled. Before we get to the main event tonight, wanna talk a bit about next week Brain. Earlier tonight, The Hollywood Blonds becoming 2 time WCW Tag Team champions. The Road Warriors want them at Starrcade, but before that, they're going into a return match with 2 Cold Scorpio and Marcus Alexander Bagwell. Also in action, Sid Vicious will be here and in the ring. Plus after weeks, Larry Zbyszko takes on the man he likes to call Pepe Lepew, that being Jean Paul Levesque.
Bobby Heenan: French aristocrat Jean Paul Levesque. And you can be sure that he's learned more than a thing or 2 from Lord Steven Regal, and we're gonna see all that channeled against Zbyszko next week.
Eric Bischoff: Also here next week, Sting will be live. But, and this is a big but-
Bobby Heenan: Well you I wasn't going to say anything, but clearly that second helping at Thanksgiving went straight to your hips.
Eric Bischoff: Unbelievable. Sting will be here, but so will this man.

A pre recorded video tape from Hulk Hogan airs, from the set of Thunder In Paradise, joined by Chris Lemmon. Those correct to wonder "who in God's name is Chris Lemmon?", he was the co-star of the show.
Hulk Hogan: Well ya know something WCW, we're just a few short weeks away now from the biggest match in wrestling history man. The biggest challenge Hulkamania's ever encountered out there brother! I'm here on the set of my upcoming show Thunder In Paradise with the 1 and only, the biggest Hulkamaniac out there. That's right, I'm talking Chris Lemmon dude, but I can't concentrate on the lines out here man. The Hulkster kept flubbing them left and right and needing retakes, cause my head's not in it tonight brother. All I keep thinking about, all that goes through my head is December the 29th. Starrcade. The Hulkster and The Stinger, first time ever. Maybe the only time ever for that matter dude! But I gotta ask you Chris Lemmon. I gotta know as you stand here with the largest arms in the universe man, are you ready for it brother?
Chris Lemmon: Hulkster, I'm ready! I've never been more ready for anything in my life! WCW's arcade, you and the Stinger. But I gotta ask you, are you ready?
Hulk Hogan: Is The Hulkster ready? Chris Lemmon dude, you and all the Lemmonites out there wanna know if The Hulkster's ready for it brother?! See, this is do or die for me and my Hulkamaniacs, and I hear the whisperings man. The wind cries out to the Hulkster. You got this show, Sting's got the Scorpion, are you 2 gonna be ready for each other? Are you 2 gonna be adequately prepared when the heavens open up, the big man upstairs lowers his hands and guides us to a place that mere man has never been? I'm talking immortality man. I'm talking making history that these people out here will never forget brother! So what I'm gonna do man, next week, Monday Nitro in Nashville, Tennessee, the Hulkster's coming to town dude! I'm coming to put an end to this Scorpion crap, cause if he or anybody else runs out there, they'll have to deal with the power of Hulkamania! They'll have to look me in the eye and take me head on. Cause Stinger dude, I got your back jack, and I'm gonna make sure that come December 29, Starrcade, there's no excuses. No Black Scorpion, no Thunder In Paradise, no interference, no "I wasn't ready". Sting brother, come Starrcade, you're going to be in for the fight of a lifetime man. See you're not just fighting the 24 inch pythons, no. You're fighting the life blood that comes from Chris Lemmon and the millions upon millions of Hulkamaniacs man. And I know there's gonna be millions and millions of little Stingers out there fighting with you out there dude, and this is going to be a test like nothing else that Hulkamania's ever faced before. So next week, Nashville, Tennessee, WCW Monday Nitro, Chris Lemmon brother, what are all you gonna do?, whatcha gonna do Stinger, when the largest arms in the universe are there live to run wild on you?!

Main event time as Harlem Heat are out first. This match comes after the incident on WCW Saturday Night with Sting vs Stevie Ray, followed by interference from Booker T. Ric Flair of all people made the save. He then convinced Sting to take this match as a chance to show him that he is trustworthy and to erase his name from The Black Scorpion suspect list. Sting is out as Eric Bischoff notifies viewers that they are going past 10pm, but when Flair's music plays, nothing. This is Rowdy Roddy Piper 3 weeks all over again. Maybe Flair is just full of it. Nothing again and The Heat just want this thing started. And thus, that is how it will begin. Until ...
Brother Brutus is out! He offers to step up to the plate and team with Sting. He wants no part of it though and sends him on his way. A second referee is out telling him to get him out of there so they can start the match. Sting gets jumped by the Heat and Brutus is irate at the Heat, or pretending to be?, wanting to get up there, but a no is a no, and he has no choice but to go to the back for now. The referee puts Stevie Ray to the apron leaving Booker the legal man. Sting is able to make a comeback and catch him with the 1 handed bulldog. But the numbers game proves too much as The Heat double team back to the upper hand. This could be a horrible outing for Sting when from the back ...
The Black Scorpion! Brother Brutus was sent away, but here comes the mysterious masked Scorpion. For what purpose? We never find out because from the back to a big pop comes Ric Flair hobbling out! Fans are going crazy as The Scorpion does not see him. Flair turns him and starts chopping. He continues and it is pretty obvious now that the 2 are not related in any way, beyond maybe The Scorpion attacking Flair, as Flair goes for the mask but The Scorpion gets away. Flair heads to the ring and gets on the apron. Moment of truth as Sting makes the tag and Flair takes it! The Nature Boy comes in and starts going to work on Booker T. Stevie Ray comes in and gets some as well. Sting comes back in, and gets Stevie Ray back out to the floor. Flair Irish whips Booker to the corner and tags Sting back in. He charges in and hits the Stinger Slash. Booker goes down and Sting puts on The Scorpion Deathlock. Booker takes only seconds to give up, as Sting and Flair win the match. More importantly than that, Flair clears his name and that leaves pretty much 1 suspect left. The man that comes out to the entrance now that the match is over, Brother Brutus. Flair sees him and immediately exits the ring, heading down the aisle to get him with purpose, although whether from first hand knowledge or suspicion the same as Sting we do not know, nor do we find out as he ends up getting blindsided by Rick Rude just before the ramp from the side! Rude lays into Flair with some hard forearm shots to the face, before putting him in the Rude Awakening and dropping him down. Brutus just watches as Sting races over, but Rude is already gone by the time he gets there. Brutus is again left standing looking guilty as ever but no definitive proof with the person that might be able to point the finger at him, again left laying and unable to answer. Albeit this time, not by his own fault necessarily as was last week.
The summary sees Rick Rude lay out Ric Flair tonight after The Nature Boy manages to clear his name although at the expense of seemingly being attacked backstage by somebody for a second time, from the looks of his actions in attacking The Scorpion and going after Brutus, 1 of them may have attacked him. Although that is if not 1 in the same as once again Brother Brutus and The Scorpion are not in the same place at the same time, meaning that he continues to not only be suspect #1, but a blatantly obvious suspect #1 at that too according to Bischoff with Flair now out of the picture. But next week Hulk Hogan arrives live to Monday Nitro for the first time since his surprise debut appearance back on September 2. Bischoff promises it will be off the charts with Sting also there live, in addition to the already announced Larry Zbyszko vs Jean Paul Levesque singles match, Sid Vicious is in action, and a return match for the WCW Tag Team Titles with the new champions The Hollywood Blonds defending against 2 Cold Scorpio and Marcus Alexander Bagwell, plus The Road Warriors await an answer on their challenge for Starrcade.
