FMW Year End Spectacular
12/26/93
Tokyo@Korakuen Hall
Main Event # 1
FMW&W*ING Vs. Fuyuki-gun
Captain Fall Elimination Match
Atsushi Onita (Captain) & W*ING: Mr. Pogo, Mitsuhiro Matsunaga & X
Vs.
Fuyuki-gun: Kodo Fuyuki (Captain), Gedo, Jado & Hisakatsu Oya
Backstory: Onita & FMW have been at war with W*ING for several months now, first with Mr. Pogo and later with Matsunaga & various other W*ING defectors joining the fight. Fuyuki-gun is made up of former NJPW talent that left the promotion in bad terms, lead by Kodo Fuyuki who finished up in NJPW this past November. The group was formed without a home, with the idea of the four former NJPW talents (+ Hido) being sold as a package deal to the highest bidder. Many thought that would be the real life W*ING, BUT instead they showed up on the 12/8 FMW show and ruined the No Ropes Exploding Barbed wire Explosive Corners Death Match between W*ING's Matsunaga & FMW's Atsushi Onita, leading to Onita letting by gones be bygones and making this challenge. Originally the idea was two FMW main eventers (Onita & Tarzan Goto) teaming with two W*ING main eventers (Pogo & Matsunaga) but Tarzan Goto then announced he was leaving the promotion in an effort to save the real life W*ING promotion, so he's out.
The story now evolves into the idea, can Onita trust W*ING and their mysterious third man? Onita's friend Sambo Asako, among others in the locker room have been very critical of Onita's decision to still go thru with this match. The other issue becomes Mr. Pogo, who's not too happy with Matsunaga volunteering him to team with his mortal enemy Onita. Pogo however, doesn't care for Fuyuki, and his bragging about the destruction of the real life W*ING promotion (which in reality falls on Pogo & Matsunaga's shoulders for defecting BUT in storyline Fuyuki).
Fuyuki and his crew have told the press that they wish to mold FMW into THEIR kind of promotion. With Fuyuki stated that once he's done destroying W*ING & FMW he'll re-christine the promotion: FREEDOM MONEY WRESTLING. He also believes that Riki Choshu was wrong to fire him, but RIGHT when he called FMW "Garbage" and W*ING is just as bad if not worse. So Fuyuki and company are the ULTIMATE bad guys here, making their debut.
Main Event # 2
Brass Knuckles Championship
No Rope Barbed Wire Street Fight
Champion: Awesome Gladiator (1st Defense)
Vs.
Ricky Fuji (Team Canada)
Brass Knuckles Championship
No Rope Barbed Wire Street Fight
Champion: Awesome Gladiator (1st Defense)
Vs.
Ricky Fuji (Team Canada)
Backstory: Awesome was initially only working FMW part time for the majority of the year, but still managed to join/form Ricky Fuji's Team Canada stable along side Dr. Luther, Dr. Hannibal, & Big Titan back in January. Mostly without Awesome the stable would feud with Onita and company on just about every show until the W*ING angle kicked off. With Awesome appearing less and less for FMW and more and more for NJPW, tensions began to mount. These tensions came to a head when Awesome WALKED OUT of NJPW after FMW booker Riki Choshu spoke negatively about the promotion and showed up in FMW in late October, declaring his loyalty to the promotion. Onita in turn rewarded him with a title shot at his Brass Knuckles Championship in the main event (Onita DID work earlier in the show teaming with Gannosuke & Goto against Pogo, Matsunaga & Hosaka), and Awesome scored a rare clean pinfall victory of the FMW founder to take home the championship.
Fuji attempted to embrace the new Champion, but Awesome blew him off, declaring his loyalty to ONITA and the FANS of FMW, and that was it for him in Team Canada.
On 12/8, Awesome teamed with Sambo Asako to do battle against Fuji, Dr. Luther & Big Titan in a handicapped match looking for revenge. Unfortunately, the duo failed as Asako was pinned by the powerful Big Titan. Awesome then demanded a singles match with Fuji, who agreed ONLY if the Brass Knuckles title was on the line. So the match was set, with the barbed wire being added to the equation as well, it should be something else. Awesome says he remembers Fuji being tough, but lately hasn't gotten that vibe from the "pretty boy", he hopes that Fuji FINDS that toughness again because he's going to need it. Fuji isn't behaving like his typical heel self, and in a recent magazine article called this the biggest match of his career and seemingly tried to play to the fans, calling himself the underdog. So we'll see what that leads to, if anything.
Hido's Open Challenge
Falls Count Anywhere Street Fight
Hido (Fuyuki-gun)
Vs.
Katsutoshi Niiyama
Falls Count Anywhere Street Fight
Hido (Fuyuki-gun)
Vs.
Katsutoshi Niiyama
Backstory: Although Kodo Fuyuki & Hisakatsu Oya are against the idea of Death Matches, Hido isn't and is the self proclaimed "Fuyuki-gun King Of The Death Match" and thus issued this challenge here to anyone from either FMW or W*ING to meet him in a Falls Count Anywhere Match. The original idea here was for Mr. Gannosuke to answer the call, but with Gannosuke leaving with Tarzan Goto, Niiyama was chosen to "step up" and represent FMW here. Should be fun, one can easily argue that this is the biggest match in both youngsters career at this point.
Special Attraction
W*ING Vs. Team Canada
Dr. Luther (Team Canada/FMW)
Vs.
Jason The Terrible (W*ING)
W*ING Vs. Team Canada
Dr. Luther (Team Canada/FMW)
Vs.
Jason The Terrible (W*ING)
Backstory: Well there isn't one really and the true attraction here is the idea of MONSTER VS. MONSTER. It'll be interesting to see where the crowd falls, as Jason was a pretty over baby face in the W*ING promotion BUT Luther represents FMW. Truth is there are a TON of cross over fans here, so Jason will most likely be cheered, but hey you never know.
W*ING Style Barbed Wire Baseball Bat Scramble
FMW Vs. W*ING
Sambo Asako, Masato Tanaka and Koji Nakagawa (FMW)
Vs.
Hideki Hosaka, Masaru Toi & W*INGER (W*ING)
FMW Vs. W*ING
Sambo Asako, Masato Tanaka and Koji Nakagawa (FMW)
Vs.
Hideki Hosaka, Masaru Toi & W*INGER (W*ING)
Backstory: This falls in line with Asako having an issue with Onita just blindly trusting the W*ING defectors in the main event, and clearly shows that the war isn't over just yet. There was a similar match on the 12/8 show, but I'm opting not to release that on VHS (rather use some highlights from the show to get some of these issues over), so this is the first time a W*ING style match takes place on FMW VHS.
FMW Independent World Junior Heavyweight Championship
W*ING Vs. FMW
Champion: Battle Ranger Z (1st Defense)
Vs.
Last W*ING/WWC Jr. Heavyweight Champion: Masayoshi Motegi
W*ING Vs. FMW
Champion: Battle Ranger Z (1st Defense)
Vs.
Last W*ING/WWC Jr. Heavyweight Champion: Masayoshi Motegi
Backstory: Battle Ranger Z defeated Dark Ranger to win the vacant title back on 12/8, when being interviewed by the press following the win, W*ING WWC Jr. Heavyweight Champion showed up an announced and made the challenge for this very match. The idea WOULD have been unification, but with Puerto Rico's WWC ultimately having control of the title, the title was returned to PR so that idea is out of the window. BUT the story is still pretty effective as it's in theory the top Jrs. of both W*ING & FMW locking horns for the very first time.

Vs.
Damian 666 & Dark Ranger
Lucha Libre Showcase
Rey Mysterio Jr. & Rey Mysterio Sr. (AAA/Tijuana)
Vs.
Damian 666 & Dark Ranger
Backstory: Damian was trained by Rey Sr. and Rey Sr. worked some here this year as "Bull Rider". Damian's a huge fan of Rey Jr, and pressured the office heavy to have him on this show. That's really about it. Still this could easily be something to look back on years from now in regards to Rey Mysterio Jr.'s career.
