WWF Superstars of Wrestling
Broadcast on 12/1/93 on Fox Affiliates
Taped Friday 11/29/93
Mid Hudson Civic Center, Poughkeepsie, New York
Commentators: Vince McMahon, Mr. Perfect and Gorilla Monsoon
Ring Announcer: Howard Finkel
Referees: Earl Hebner, Tim White, Danny Davis and Joey Marella
Vince McMahon: HELLO EVERYONE!!! Vince McMahon at ringside along with Gorilla Monsoon and the newest member of our broadcast team, Mr. Perfect!!! And today, the World Wrestling Federation Tag Team Titles will be decided when the Champions, The Quebecers defend against the team that beat them right here on Superstars in a non title match 2 weeks ago, The Smoking Gunns!!!
Gorilla Monsoon: I can’t wait for that one Vince, and I have a very good feeling we are going to see the titles change here today.
Mr. Perfect: I have to disagree with you on that Monsoon, as a former Champion, I can tell you, you approach a non title match much differently than you do a match where the title is on the line, and I think the Champions are going to have a few tricks up their sleeves that the Smoking Gunns won’t be expecting!
Vince McMahon: Never the less, also here today, Crush takes on the strange and unusual Damien Demento!!
Gorilla Monsoon: Demento is out there Vince, but he is going to provide quite the challenge for the man from Hawaii.
Vince McMahon: We will also talk to the man who made his successful debut at the Survivor Series, “Double J” Jeff Jarrett.
Mr. Perfect: I like that Jeff Jarrett, he reminds me a bit of myself. But just not as Perfect.
Gorilla Monsoon: Give me a break!!
Vince McMahon: He is an impressive competitor, also an impressive competitor , the MASSIVE Mabel will be here, and don’t go away because when we come back the former WWF Champion Bret “The Hitman” Hart will be in action!!!!
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Vince McMahon: AND HERE HE COMES, THE BEST THERE IS, THE BEST THERE WAS, THE BEST THERE EVER WILL BE!!
Mr. Perfect: I don’t agree with ANY of that!!!
Vince McMahon: BE THAT AS IT MAY, HE IS A FORMER WWF CHAMPION, AND SOME THINK HE WILL BE AGAIN, IT’S THE HITMAN BRET HART!!! HERE WE GO WITH OUR FIRST MATCH HERE ON SUPERSTARS!!!! LISTEN TO THAT OVATION FOR THE HITMAN!!!
Gorilla Monsoon: THEY ARE HANGING FROM THE RAFTERS!!!!
Bret “The Hitman” Hart defeats Gary Sabaugh by submission with the Sharpshooter, Bret showcased his five moves of doom while Sabaugh tried to put up a fight, but the former WWF Champion was just too much for him. On commentary talked turned to the Royal Rumble which will be coming to us live on Pay Per View January 26, 1994, and the winner of the Rumble will get a shot at the WWF Title at Wrestlemania X, Gorilla feels that if Bret Hart enters, which why in the world would he not, he could easily be the favorite to win it all. Perfect says that would only be the case if he, Mr. Perfect, didn’t decide to enter the Rumble.
Crush is standing in front of his logo, today he has Damien Demento, and he promises that Demonto with get CRUSHED!!!! He then calls out Adam Bomb and says he isn’t done with him yet and soon he and Bomb will meet in the ring again, SOON!!!!
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Crush defeats Damien Demento with a flying shoulder block off the top rope!!! Demento gave Crush a hell of a challenge and the two men brawled around the ring and outside of it, Demento even slammed Crush’s head into the ring steps and looked like he might get the win after locking Crush in an Iron Claw, but Crush somehow fought out of it and rallied back to beat Demento. During the match Harvey Wippleman was shown watching the match from the locker room with Adam Bomb.
EVENT CENTER
Todd says that the Survivor Series is in the books and what a night it was, but if you didn’t see it, you aren’t out of luck yet because it will be replaying this week on Pay Per View, to check your listings and make sure to catch all the action on replay.
Now while you can still catch the Survivor Series on replay, the WWF has not one but TWO big upcoming events. The Royal Rumble is coming live on Pay Per View on January 26, 1994, and the winner of the Rumble will go on to Wrestlemania X and receive a shot at the WWF Championship, Todd says he will have lots of news on the Royal Rumble in the coming weeks.
But before we get to the Royal Rumble, the WWF has teamed up with Sega CD and the USA Network to give the fans of the WWF a Christmas Present!!! On December 29th with a 8PM start time, the WWF will present The Main Event: Rage in the Cage!!! And a match has already be signed!!!
Tatanka will get one final chance to regain the Intercontinental Championship against the man who took it from him, “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels INSIDE A STEEL CAGE!!!! Todd says he’ll have more matches to announce next week, and reminds us that no one does special events like the World Wrestling Federation!
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Jim Ross is in the center of the ring and invites out his guest, “Double J” Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett’s over the top entrance includes him riding a friggin HORSE to the ring. Jarrett has his hat and glasses with their lights on them. He struts in the ring.
Jim Ross: Jeff Jarrett,
Jeff Jarrett: That’s DOUBLE J, Jeff Jarrett, J-E-DOUBLE F, J-A-DOUBLE R-E-DOUBLE T, get it right Jim Ross!!!
Jim Ross: Fine, “Double J” Jeff Jarrett, you made a successful debut at the Survivor Series, what do you plan to do next now that you have arrived here in the World Wrestling Federation?
Jeff Jarrett: Well, I’m glad you asked Jimmy, I can call you Jimmy right? Of course I can, HA-HA, Jimmy, now that I have arrived I am going to prove to everyone that I am exactly what I have been saying that I am, not only the best wrestler in the world, but the best entertainer in the world, and how am I going to do that Jimmy? Well I am glad you asked, I am going to prove it by playing all my hits here on Superstars for all my fans!!!
Jim Ross: And when will this happen?
Jeff Jarrett: Now, now Jimmy, let’s not get ahead of ourselves, a entertainer like myself, he has to have some protections, so my managers and lawyers have to draw up contracts, and once all our conditions have been met I’ll be happy to show the world all the talent Jeff Jarrett has!! But one thing I can go ahead and do Jimmy, I can prove to all the people out there that I am the greatest wrestler in the world today and I am going to do that at the Royal Rumble!! That’s right, because ol’ Double J is throwing his hat (Jarrett takes his hat off and throws it down on the ring) into the ring and declaring for the Royal Rumble!!!! I’m going into the ring in the Providence Civic Center and I am going to throw out everyone that gets in my way, and then, AHA, then I am going to Wrestlemania X and I will become the WWF World Champion, mark it down folks, because I am guaranteeing it now!!!
COMMERCIALS
A promo plays for next week on Superstars when the British Bulldog will face off against Rick Martel!!!!
Mabel defeats Knuckleball Schwartz after a belly to belly suplex followed by a massive elbow drop. Mabel rapped his way to the ring, which made Mr. Perfect sick and he declared Rap is Crap, Schwartz gave it a go against Mabel, but the big man was just too much for him to handle, for some dumb reason Schwartz even tried to bodyslam Mabel which failed miserably. Vince claimed Schwartz was a former baseball player that was kicked out of baseball for causing too many bench clearing brawls. An uncomfortable moment on commentary when Perfect asked Vince if Schwartz was a pitcher or a catcher to which Vince quickly pointed out that he wouldn’t know.
The Smoking Gunns are backstage and they say that they are going to take the WWF Tag Team Titles from the Quebecers, they have already beat them once here on Superstars and they are going to do it again!!!!
COMMERCIALS
The Smoking Gunns defeat the WWF Tag Team Champions The Quebecers via DQ when Jacques nails Billy Gunn with one of the WWF Tag Team Title belts in full view of the referee to draw the DQ. Back and forth battle between the two teams that just could have gone either way, The Quebecers almost got an early victory after hitting Bart with a Rocket Launcher but Bart somehow kicked out right before the three. A double flapjack by the Quebecers on Bart came even closer to getting the victory but Billy broke it up. Bart was finally able to break away when he rolled out of the way of the Quebec Crash and tag out to Billy, Billy sent both Quebecers bumping around the ring, he and Bart hit a double dropkick on Jacques that came oh so close to getting the three count, but Jacques somehow got a shoulder up. A second close call came for the Quebecers when Bart got Pierre up on his shoulders and Billy came off the top rope with a clothesline, Perfect wondered if the Gunns felt a rush when they did that, Billy made the cover, but Jacques broke it up. The Gunns hit Jacques with another double dropkick to send him out of the ring, and then hit the Sidewinder on Pierre, it looked like we would crown new WWF Tag Team Champions when Jacques came back in the ring and blasted Bart with the WWF Title in the back of the head and then laid Billy out with it as well!!!!
We then cut back to the commentators to close the show.
Mr. Perfect: I told you, I TOLD YOU, the Quebecers are walking away with the Titles.
Gorilla Monsoon: But they didn’t win the match! The Smoking Gunns had them beat!!!
Mr. Perfect: All that matters is that they walked away still the Champions!!!
Vince McMahon: Be that as it may, I think the WWF President Jack Tunney will be looking into this match, and that the Quebecers haven’t heard the last of this one.
Mr. Perfect: So what, they are still the Champs and the Gunns are still CHUMPS!!
Vince McMahon: Well I don’t think I agree with that. Next week here on Superstars, Doink the Clown will be in action!!!
Mr. Perfect: (sarcastically) GREAT! I can’t wait (Perfect rolls his eyes)
Vince McMahon: Also here next week, The Headshrinkers will be in tag team competition.
Gorilla Monsoon: I’ll tell ya Vince, those Headshrinkers may just be the fiercest and most dangerous team ever here in the World Wrestling Federation.
Vince McMahon: Plus James E. Cornette will be here to talk with Jim Ross about what happened at Survivor Series and when we will see Yokozuna put the title on the line against The Undertaker!!!
Gorilla Monsoon: After what happened at Survivor Series Vince, I seriously doubt Yokozuna is any rush to step back in the ring with The Undertaker.
Mr. Perfect: Now hold on one minute Monsoon, you aren’t still trying to say that Yokozuna is scared of the Undertaker ARE YOU?
Gorilla Monsoon: If the shoe fits, wear it!! And I think this particular shoe fits Yokozuna, shall we say PERFECTLY?
Vince McMahon: HA HA!! And then we’ll have our featured match, The British Bulldog takes on the challenge of Rick Martel!! For Gorilla Monsoon and Mr. Perfect, I am Vince McMahon, see you next week on WWF Superstars!!!!
