Before the show begins our commentators take a look back at TWO NIGHTS ago in this very building and the finals of the Super Grade Tag League. Clips are first shown of the play off round that pitted: Strong Destruction (Shinya Hashimoto & Super Strong Machine) against the Musketeers (Keiji Muto & Masahiro Chono) with the winners going on to face Ookuma Gundan (Hiro Saito & Hiroyoshi Tenzan) in the main event. The key thing to focus on here is Keiji Muto, who MISSED a huge handspring elbow on the outside on Hashimoto and landed very badly on the guard rail injuring his ribs. In what looked like a strong match, the Musketeers were STILL able to battle back from behind and Chono got the win for his team pinning Machine off not one, not two, but three Yakuza kicks.

That brought us to the finals, were the big story was all about Muto's ribs which were taped pretty heavily. Ookuma Gundan dominanted the bout throughout, and we even had a tease of Chono joining as he looked for a "hug" from the heels but it was a ploy to give them each low blows to a nice reaction. It's Muto who battles thru adversary here to put Saito away off a moonsault and that's that..

1st Fall- Right off the bat this thing is a lot of freaking fun. Lots of high spots, told at a rapid pace that's fitting for an opener. Story telling is there too, with Delfin & Dragon trying to one up each other on offense leading to more than a few arugements and damn near costing them the first fall off a Samurai roll up to Delfin. Sasuke DIES FOR THE TOKYO CROWD missing a senton atomico (swanton bomb) OFF THE TOP ROPE AND TO THE FLOOR, leading to Delfin rolling him in and proudly locking in the Delfin Clutch for the pinfall victory to give his team the lead at 7:16.

2nd Fall- All about redemption here, but first we get some of Samurai beating the heck out of his old partner Dragon for a bit to a nice reaction. Shinzaki gets to shine, surprising everyone with a FREAKING SPACE FLYING TIGER DROP onto a pile on out on the floor. We all get dives in this fall, but in the end it's all about redemption as Sasuke drops Delfin on his head with a brain buster before finishing with a Quedabra (middle ROPE running moonsault to a standing opponent) to tie things up at 11:32.

Deciding Fall- THE POWDER makes an appearance here, and it's a MISS FIRE that see's Delfin get blinded and damn near put away off a Kanemoto Tiger Suplex but luckily Shinzaki is there to save. Things fall apart completely here with Delfin & Dragon getting into a huge argument with Shinzaki playing peace maker, but to no avail as DELFIN LEAVES THE RINGSIDE AREA. Seconds later Samurai hits a Samurai Bomb on his former partner, ALMOST GETTING THE WIN BUT DELFIN RUNS BACK IN AND SAVES AT THE VERY LAST SECOND! In the end it doesn't matter as Shinzaki chokeslams Sasuke to hell, but he's not even legal which leaves him open to a jumping leg lariat from Samurai. Elevated Inverted DDT finishes seconds later and our baby faces get the big victory at 16:08.

Post Match- The heels argue, Delfin's stable mate Naniwa is there and we TEASE facing off with Dragon & Shinzaki, crowds hot for the potential break up, SO WE GO THE OTHER WAY WITH IT. The stotic, monk like Shinzaki CONVINCES EVERYONE TO HUG to a mixture of laughs and boo's.

Truth is, it's just a match. Taylor's run here has been a let down since day one. He's phoning it in, and it doesn't really matter here. This thankfully gets clipped to shreds, as it's not bad, just nothing really to it. Finish see's Akira score somewhat of an upset pin over Taylor via a Dragon Suplex Hold while Iizuka keeps Kido at bay. Still a very visual win for JJ Jacks, who are expected to receive somewhat of a push as the new year approaches.

Ultimo Dragon & Jinsei Shinzaki are backing up Hamada, Liger has Samurai & Koji Kanemoto in his respective corner. This should be a lot of freaking fun. Big fight feel is in the air as the bell sounds. RIGHT off the bat Hamada charges only to be taken up and over with a back body drop, BUT HAMADA LANDS ON HIS FEET! Liger quickly hits the ropes, SPIN WHEEL KICK MISSES! Hamada now hits the ropes and scores with one of his own sending Liger to the outside! He acts quick vaulting himself up and over the top rope with a cross body! Hamada's right back on the inside and vaults off the second turnbuckle now with another cross body to the floor the moment Liger makes it to his feet! Hamada's back in the ring to pose with a battle cry of "VIVA LOS AMIGOS" to a mixed reaction.

The champion takes some of the count before he heads back into a waiting Hamada, who's right on him shooting him into the ropes and scoring with a big lariat. Rear chinlock is applied BRIEFLY but simply used to set up a DEVASTATINGLY STIFF CROSS FACE! AND ANOTHER! And we're back to the rear chinlock, with Liger searching for away to his feet. He's able to elevate his foe and score with a huge samoan drop. Hamada's actually to his feet first as Liger sells the cross faces still, and next thing you know it he takes Liger down with a huge backdrop suplex! Diving forearm to the throat on the cover attempt from Hamada, VERY deliberate right there...

Grounded sleeper hold is applied next by Hamada, with Liger kicking his feet wildly in search of the ropes before finally getting his foot under the bottom rope forcing a break, a clean break at that. Hamada with a handful of hair of a kneeling Liger sets up a stiff knee to the small of the back! Quick stomp before forcing Liger to his feet and scoring with a jumping enziguri to the back of the head and down goes the champion! Elbow to the back of the neck and another diving forearm to the throat on the cover attempt...

Back to the sleeper, but Jushin quickly powers to his feet as Hamada manages to turn it into a side headlock only to be shot off and into the ropes, drop down from Liger sets up an overhead arm drag on the rebound! Hamada pops up and charges only for Liger to leap frog over him, he's back off the ropes and FLOORS THE CHAMPION WITH A STIFF JUMPING FOREARM SMASH! Cover..

Back to the sleeper for a bit before forcing Liger to his feet and irish whipping 'em into the corner. Hamada charges in after him, WITH A HIGH IMPACT JUMPING LARIAT! Liger's slumped over in the corner as Hamada grabs a handful of horn and snap mares him over setting up a headscissors hold! We're here for a bit with Liger drawing from the crowd as he attempts to make it to the ropes, eventually draping his foot under the bottom rope forcing a break. Another clean break as Hamada forcing his foe to his feet seconds later and takes him down with a huge vertical suplex. To the top now as Liger begins to stir... HIGH IMPACT DIVING SHOULDER TACKLE OFF THE TOP FLOORS THE CHAMPION!

Scoop slam from Hamada now before setting up on the top rope again.. DIVING SPLASH... NO!! LIGER GETS THE KNEES UP AT THE VERY LAST SECOND! Both men are sucking wind a bit before Liger's off and into the ropes, Hamada begins to recover as Liger DRIVES HIM FACE FIRST INTO THE CANVAS BY THE HAIR WITH A FACE CRUSHER OFF THE ROPES! Liger sets 'em up, release power bomb connects!

The champion's firmly in control as he shoots him into the ropes and scores with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on the rebound! Liger RARELY gets to show off his power, but does so here against the smaller Hamada, hoisting him up onto his shoulders Razor's Edge style and spinning around, and around and around before letting him drop to the canvas violently! Shinzaki hits the apron at this point, and Liger floors him with a palm thrust! It's a ploy however as ULTIMO HAS PASSED THE CRUTCH TO HAMADA! Hamada pulls back ready to let him have it, BUT HERE's KOJI KANEMOTO TO PULL IT AWAY! The officials involved, BUT IT'S ALL PART OF THE CON as Ultimo is on the apron now... AND IT's A FACE FULL OF POWDER FOR LIGER!!! A blinded Liger stumbles into a waiting Hamada....

LIGER POPS THE SHOULDER JUST BEFORE 3!!!

Samurai and Kanemoto have HAD ENOUGH of Los Amigos and are brawling with Jinsei Shinzaki & Ultimo Dragon ALL THE WAY INTO THE BACK!!! We're down to one on one, as an almost panicked striking Hamada calls out for his buddies. Hamada turns around, and WALKS RIGHT INTO A RUNNING DROPKICK TO THE KNEE FROM LIGER! Hamada rolls to the outside holding at his knee in pain, as Liger sells his eyes a bit inside the ring. Hamada takes some of the count before re-entering at 11 and immediately Liger targets the knee with another dropkick! Hamada's leaning up against the ropes now as Liger charges the ropes and comes back with ANOTHER huge dropkick to the knee sending Hamada to the outside yet again! Hamada's slowly back into the ring, and LIGER LETS HIM HAVE IT WITH A PALM THRUST TO THE THROAT and down goes the self proclaimed "Father of Lucha Libre!" Liger now QUICKLY FOLLOWS UP with a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK! Liger screams "ASK HIM" as Hamada howls in pain! Liger pounds on the mat for extra leverage as Hamada's clearly in a ton of pain bust just out and out REFUSES to give it up! Hamada eventually summons all his strength and TURNS IT AROUND ON LIGER, BUT HE CAN'T KEEP IT THERE and Liger's able to turn it around within seconds! We're only here for a bit as Hamada turns it around one more time, this time rolling to the ropes and forcing a break.

Hamada heads to the floor for a breather, but the champions right out there after him and sets him up... RELEASE POWER BOMB RIGHT ON THE PROTECTIVE MATS FROM LIGER!!! HE'S NOT PLAYING AROUND AT ALL FANS! THE GLOVES ARE FREAKING OFF! Liger's back in the ring to play to the crowd as Hamada takes some of the count before re-entering at 9. He's up against the ropes as Liger LET'S HIM HAVE it with a wild series of knife edge chops! Open hand slap to the chest SEEMINGLY BRINGS HAMADA BACK TO LIFE as he answers back with a knife edge chop and an open hand slap of his own! Liger's response? A RUSH OF PALM STRIKES TO THE FACE AND JAW RESPECTIVELY AND DOWN GOES HAMADA! Liger now forces him to his feet and shoots him off into the ropes, HUGE BACK BODY DROP SENDS HAMADA SOARING INTO THE AIR BEFORE CRASHING TO THE CANVAS! Liger waits on him to get up and charges, only to meet a back body drop from Hamada, LUCKILY Liger lands on his feet on the apron!

BUT Hamada SCORES with one of his trademark headbutts moments later and Jushin tumbles to the outside! Hamada acts quick vaulting himself to the apron and SPRINGING off the second rope with a twisted SENTON SPLASH ONTO A STANDING LIGER! Hamada's quickly back into the ring to sell his knee a bit as Liger takes some of the count out on the floor. Liger's back in at 9 and shot off into the ropes, DROPKICK coming up from Hamada, NO LIGER HOLDS ONTO THE ROPES AND HAMADA CRASHES AND BURNS! Liger now hits the ropes... RUNNING KOPPO SCORES SENDING HAMADA CRASHING TO THE OUTSIDE! Liger now to the top rope....

DIVING BODY PRESS OUT ONTO A STANDING HAMADA SCORES AS THE CROWD GOES FREAKING WILD! Liger's in first, obviously and catching some air as Hamada pulls himself back up and into the ring at 9. Liger hooks him up.. RELEASE GERMAN SUPLEX CONNECTS! Cover..

Liger's handed a microphone and he's got BAD NEWS for the Dragon, he's already agreed to give someone a shot at the dome, and that man is his GOOD friend...

Ultimo throws a hissy fit over this, but Liger tells him not to worry about the title shot, instead... WORRY ABOUT THE MAN BEHIND YOU!

AND IT'S EL SAMURAI ULTIMO'S FORMER PARTNER! SAMURAI WITH A HUGE RIGHT HAND, AND DRAGON TAKES OFF TO THE BACK! Liger and Samurai share a laugh and that's that.

6 Man Tag Team Grudge Match

"Genius Wizard" Keiji Muto, Super Strong Machine & Manabu Nakanishi

Vs.

Scott "Flash" Norton, Satoshi Kojima, & Tatsutoshi Goto (Fuyuki-gun)

Akiyama was originally on the face team, but with Awesome Gladiator bolting for FMW the card was re-shuffled. Another clipped bout, that's fun for what it is. Heels get heat on Nakanishi, Nakanishi however does get some power exchanges in with Norton that are a strong hint of things to come in his career. Muto's ribs are taped heavily, which once intermission hits will all make sense. Finish see's Norton accidentally take out Goto with a lariat, leading to Muto hitting his back breaker and finishing Goto off with a moonsault at around the 12 minute mark.

Post Match- As the faces celebrate, the camera focusses on Norton who ABANDONS his team and power walks to the back. Kojima & Goto chase after him, AND NORTON TURNS AND LAYS THEM EACH OUT WITH RIGHT HANDS. NORTON HAS HAD ENOUGH OF LOSING, AND APPEARS TO BE DONE WITH FUYUKI-GUN!

"The Diamond Studd" Scott Hall

"Macho Dragon" Tatstumi Fujinami

You can tell throughout the match that NJPW has big plans for Hall going forward just by how much of his unique offense he works in here. Fun story telling with Fujinami battling back from underneath throughout. Hall gets a near fall off a viscous choke slam, a second rope bulldog, and even bust out his fall away slam. Fujinami however does have a game plan and it shows as he works of the knee throughout, busting out some Dragon Screw legwhips to a huge reaction, and we even get an extended figure four spot before Hall powers to the ropes. Fujinami misses a top rope diving knee drop as we near the end of the bout and Hall, slowly sets up the Diamond Death Drop but is clearly having trouble with the knee. This leads to the knee buckling and Fujinami landing on his feet! Quick series of kicks to the back of the knee before QUICKLY bringing the Studd to the canvas with a backslide...

3!! Hall kicks up just after 3! Still a solid debut as Hall really held his own in there against perhaps the most decorated NJPW main eventer!

Post Match- Hall, having earned the respect of the "Macho Dragon" is helped to his feet and we get a handshake to a nice reaction. Fujinami even goes as far as to raise the Studd's hand high in the air. He may not have won, but the Studd has clearly arrived here in NJPW. BUT THAT's not all! Studd exits, but as Fujinami exits RIKI CHOSHU asks him to stay put. Choshu gets on the microphone and let's everyone know he'll be returning from his injury during next month's "BATTLE FINAL" tour, but that's not what this is about. This is about NEXT YEAR and the TOKYO DOME... They're calling it BattleField and it's NJPW's intention to make it the strongest card of the year.. AND THAT's why he stopped Fujinami... INTERMISSION

During intermission we get an interview with Shinya Hashimoto about who he'd like to face at the Dome IF he wins tonight, Shinya says WHEN he wins tonight he wants to DEFEAT TENRYU and take back what's his, BUT if it's Hase, he hasn't forgotten that Hase took him out of the G1.

A video package airs showing Hiroshi Hase's journey for the IWGP title, his struggles that brought him here... from defeating Chono, Muto & Hashimoto in the G1 and falling to Fujinami, from TAKING BACK the Greatest 18 Championship from Barry Windham. His goal is to unify the belt just as it was before, and to WIN BACK the IWGP title for New Japan! An interview with Hase let's us know he's got heart and he's coming for Tenryu.

Highlights of Genichiro Tenryu air next, his win over Hashimoto to take the gold and defeating G1 winner Tatstumi Fujinami in his first defense. The champion represents WAR, and let's us know just that in an interview. He's got no disrespect for NJPW, but doesn't think Hase's the one to take this title away from him.. Hashimoto? Maybe? Fujinami? Maybe... Inoki? Could be, but HASE? NO FREAKING WAY.

Hiro Saito speaks for Hiroyoshi Tenzan next, as to who Tenzan wants to face? HE DOESN'T CARE. Tenzan is the future, everyone else is secondary.

Fuyuki's out alone, but it's a ploy as once Chono steps out from behind the curtain he's attacked from behind by Fuyuki-gun members Satoshi Kojima & Tatsutoshi Goto. Kojima loads the elbow pad as Goto keeps Chono occupied, a smiling Fuyuki watches in the ring, laughing as Kojima backs all the way up the aisle and charges taking Chono out with the LOADED LARIAT! Chono is rolled into the ring with Fuyuki encouraging the official to call for the bell. We don't get a cover right away, instead Fuyuki toys with him with some kicks to the face before pulling him into position... POWER BOMB HOLD!

Fuyuki rakes at the eyes and chokes away at Chono a bit, shoving the official (resident anti-Fuyuki-gun official Red Shoes Unoo) to the canvas when he tries to give him a warning, 'cause hey this IS NO DQ. Goto hands him a chair, and Fuyuki is all smiles as he waits for Chono to make it to his feet and BLAST HIM RIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES! He's got BAD INTENTIONS as he sets the chair up, AND TAKES A SEAT AS HE LOCKS IN A CHINLOCK, COME ON! Fuyuki has some fun with Chono before covering with one foot, earning just a 1 count. He un-does some wrist tape and here comes some choking... Fuyuki orders Kojima in the ring as he scores with some chops in the corner.. Kojima charges... JUMPING FOREARM SMASH IN THE CORNER MISSES!!! Goto charges now, AND CHONO SIDE STEPS SENDING HIM CRASHING INTO KOJIMA! FUYUKI however scores with a KICK BELLOW THE BELT! Fuyuki is all smiles now, trying to order Kojima & Goto around, but there still recovering.. AND CHONO DROPS TO HIS KNEES AND GOES LOW WITH A LOW BLOW! Piledriver from Chono CONNECTS! Before the IWGP Tag Team Championship bout we get words from both teams, starting with Jun Akiyama & Kensuke Sasaki. Akiyama is grateful for being chosen to replace the departed "Awesome Gladiator" here tonight and promises not to let Kensuke down. Kensuke believes that what Awesome had in power and agility, Akiyama will make up for in heart and assures everyone watching that the titles are coming back to NJPW. Akiyama is thrown right into the fire, as he's volunteered himself to start against the always deadly "Dr. Death". We get some catch wrestling with Akiyama holding his own before both men sit up for the polite applause from the fans. More stuff on the mat follows with the kid surprising Williams with a leg lock, but Doc's to the ropes seconds later for a break. More catch wrestling see's Doc take 'em down only for Akiyama to fight his way free and end up in control of a waist lock. HUGE elbow to the jaw from Williams and he's free, big chop is DUCKED under by Akiyama! Dropkick is SWATTED AWAY by Doc who then simply RUNS right thru the kid with a shoulder tackle! Williams now decides he's gonna wear the kid out, by putting all his weight behind a front face lock, occasionally bringing himself up into the air and back down again for extra pressure. Akiyama's in real trouble here, but is able to get his foot on the bottom rope forcing Doc to break. This match came about when Hashimoto was announced as recieving his rematch for the IWGP title at the Tokyo Dome & Tenzan's partner and mouth piece Hiro Saito objected siting that "new blood" should be receiving the shot. Bell sounds and we meet in the center for some feeling out. Initial lock up see's Tenzan power Hashimoto into the ropes, clean break after some offense teasing. Back to the feeling out process before locking hands in a test of strength. Neither man is budging here, just pushing back and forth, finally Tenzan is able to get the upper hand off a few headbutts! Front face lock is applied but Hashimoto powers his foe into the ropes and again we break clean after some teasing.

Lock up is teased only for Hashimoto to score with a single leg takedown and start tugging away at Tenzan's ankle. Hiroyoshi fights for away out and is eventually able to pull himself to the ropes forcing a break, another clean one but the tension is surely building. Lock up is teased yet again only for Hashimoto to score with a drop toehold and keep that ankle wrapped up. Pulling back on it a bit as Tenzan is able to reach out and hook the bottom rope for the break. Some circling before locking up, Tenzan scores with a knee and the GLOVES ARE OFF! Big fight feel is in the air. This is part of the on going "Outsiders Vs. NJPW" angle that's dominanted the championship situation for some time now. Earlier tonight we saw Kensuke Sasaki & Jun Akiyama win back the IWGP Tag Team Championships from the invading "King's Road", back in September we saw Hiroshi Hase win back the Greatest 18 Championship from WCW's Barry Windham, can he live up to his personal goal and NOT ONLY unify the title with the IWGP Title once again, BUT ALSO bring back New Japan's top title from WAR's founder Tenryu? Big fight feel is in the air as our cameras go behind the curtain during each man's introduction to see them nervously pacing before they make their way out. Both men get solid reactions, with a few boo's here and there for Tenryu. Long pause and some circling once the bell sounds. Small "Hase" chant can be heard just before we finally lock up. Hase grabs an early advantage with a waist lock, but Tenryu's able to hold his ground and reverse to one of his own. Hase quickly breaks free and LET'S TENRYU HAVE IT with an open hand slap right across the chest! Tenryu smiles and we circle a bit before meeting in the center with a test of strength. Tenryu being the more powerful of the two easily wins this, BUT Hase gets to impress with a nice bridge before power up and stepping in on the hold before letting Tenryu have it with a modified savat kick to the shoulder! Tenryu TEASES murdering him dead with one of his stiff knife edge chops but Hase braces himself so Tenryu opts not to connect.

More pacing here as we tease a lock up only for Tenryu to surprise the "Greatest 18 Champion" with a knee to the gut. BAM! Knife edge chop connects! Side headlock is applied but Hase pushes forward sending Tenryu into the ropes, only to get floored as Tenryu comes back on the rebound with a shoulder! While Hase is kneeling forward on his knees, Tenryu DRILLS him with a pair of paint brush style kicks to the face! AND ANOTHER! Hase's on his feet, still bent over as Tenryu scores with two more! Post Match- Tenryu stomps to the back, as we get the streamer treatment for Hase, a teary interview, and his music playing over and over again on repeat as he continues to celebrate with the crowd. SCOTT "FLASH" NORTON hits ringside near the end, and NON-verbally challenges for the now UNIFIED title as he points at each and motions that he's coming for it. A shot of the aisle shows Shinya Hashimoto watching on from the entrance way. They each opt to give Hase his moment and it's more of his music playing over and over again as we *CLIP* to the announcers, who recap the exciting night with clips and LET US KNOW that the ROAD TO BATTLEFIELD HAS BEGUN HERE TONIGHT AT SUMO HALL!

Shocking finish here in some ways. After Hashimoto won to keep the shot, I thought for sure we would be getting him and Tenryu, while Hase would come close but ultimately fail in a performance that still elevated him. That being said was a great match, with lots of twists and turns, made even better with the surprise finish, at least to me. Not that I would call it an upset given the role Hase had been on, just did not see it coming. I like that Norton is right in there with Hashimoto looking on from behind him. Always an effective close in a 3 way situation like that. Norton getting the shot beforehand would feel a little like the old February PPV title matches when you already know the Wrestlemania main event, coming right after Hase wins the title, so hopefully that comes later or if before, at least has a finish that lets him stay up there and get another shot. I feel like you have done something with Norton and he could be huge very soon, especially after laying out Fuyuki-gun here on this show to go solo. Another question to emerge here and watch for will be whether Hase keeps and defends both belts or gives 1 of them up, or if it is in fact just unified going forward and the Greatest 18 belt gets dropped all together. Also a very subtle tease in the ring announcing by Inoki with the "for now". Great added detail.

And to go by my February PPV comparison, if the Dome show is Mania, Hase-Tenryu was the Rumble title match, then Hashimoto and Tenzan was the Rumble itself. Tenzan looks extremely strong in defeat, while Hashimoto gets a big win. There has been teases of a heel turn and snap out of frustration, but I would not say this win brings that out of the woods because a loss in January could send him over the edge in ways that a loss here could not have done. Of course, it could just be the final chapter in a redemption story of getting back the belt he lost. We know where he goes from here, but Tenzan will be 1 to watch in 94.

And speaking of surprises, Hase at least I could see as a possibility. Did not even consider when I started reading that Sasaki and Akiyama would win that match. The first defense of King's Road, Akiyama being a replacement for the departed Awesome, but it shows that there are plans there. It is a big win, although a small part in the back of my mind wonders if this was taking the approach of Sasaki and Awesome were supposed to win and the bookers thought to just stay on course and put somebody else in there, or if this was genuinely thought of by them as a chance to make a new star. Time will tell, but either way Akiyama being put in there shows something about his future here. I also liked the tie in of Williams having had to pick a replacement, and Sasaki having had to do so as well. Thought maybe for a second that King's Road spot of using the Doomsday Device could have been setting up to pair them against The Road Warriors at the Tokyo Dome! Ok, I obviously never thought that since I would know, but was a cool thought for a second if I had not.

I understand your apology the other day for the finals of the tag league, not that it was needed. I can only imagine all the planning, the time spent on it, and then having to do the last bit like that because you did not have enough time, more from the perspective of writing the stuff for yourself above us, cause I appreciate every card like this. Hey, it happens though and above that, better to move forward than focus on that and fall behind by STILL having to write this card as the alternative. Chono and Mutoh are looking strong right now and that gives them a future title shot I guess? Even if it did not, clearly they are now positioned for it. Akiyama may be in over his head against them, but it is also a chance to make an even bigger statement in that match for him.

Part of me wanted to see Hamada win the title, just for Los Amigos getting the title and the great job you have done with him. Liger retaining is never disappointing though at this stage of his career. The battle with him and Pegasus Kid on the 4th should be awesome stuff. Dragon pairing up with Samurai should make for an equally good match, a solid opener type match for the 4th if that is where it ends up. We know what is looming too with the J Cup, so these matches coming up, the tag tournament, all of this really has some added interest for me.

Going back to Norton being a big deal, Hall could be next it seems like. While he did not win here, or have a spot where the match got any sort of big match write up as man can only write so much with those later matches, it was a loss to Fujinami and put over in the description and post match in a way that made it seem he would get big treatment going forward. Although the attachment of "Diamond Studd" does make me wonder lol, but it is understandable he would keep that moniker off the bat. And after, we get Fujinami vs Choshu signed for the 4th. That is already a big match, and with a month and a half to make it even bigger.

And JJ Jacks get a win on top of everything. Might be in over their heads in the current tag division, but we will see what happens going forward.

This shall go down as the final major NJPW show I produce, at least for now. I feel if there's ever a better time to move on, it's with this show as just about everything I built up (from Hase's rise, the evolution of Akiyama, and the pay off on the outsiders holding the belts) has really paid off here. I'll be staying in Japan and moving onto the FMW promotion going forward.

Too bad. Took a month to really get into this with a lot of names I knew but was not overly familiar with, but once it got going, hard to top. Among the best stuff from a match writing perspective I have ever seen, and with the right cast of characters to make that happen. Was looking forward to stuff like the Tokyo Dome show and J Cup, as well as the "working relationship" with WCW continuing. Guess it is back to the drawing board for me as well for all my post Starrcade stuff lol.

Well, some of these booking decisions make more sense looking at it that way now. Maybe this *was* the plan all along, but I tend to side with JP's initial reaction. It seemed like things were going another way specifically, but ya knocked things off-balance and out of orbit in a lot of ways. Major shakeup feel to a lot of the outcomes here.

Loved the action though, as usual. Hard-hitting, stiff, snug, and strong style throughout. The Tag Title change made for an awesome celebratory moment, as did the big "battle of the bulls" presentation ya brought out towards the climax of Hashimoto versus Tenzan. That one took the spotlight & just ran home with it for me. Nicely done as always, man.

Then there was of course other fun stuff - from the rapid-fire, action-packed opener to the condensed CRUSH SQUASH SPLAT fight feel of Chono over Fuyuki. All fun stuff in its own right.

Hate to see the fierce real-sports, ultra-competitive feel of New Japan come to an end. Hate that some of these fun gimmicks (Los Amigos trickery and deceit, Senior Perfect Delfin, etc.) may get reshuffled or just dropped off the face of the continent altogether. And I hate that it took me so long to read this one in full & leave ya some feedback for it. I don't know what kind of approach you're going to take with FMW moving forward, but I'll be watching to find out.

Freaking super show in it's own right before reading that this was the finale of NJPW. Super, super wrap-up to things while still pushing forward angles to the Dome show, not totally putting a close to things for either you or someone else in the future, if they decided to build on where you left off.

Great work on seeing some of those things put in place as you mentioned and come to a head such as Hase's rise and Akiyama's year. Super ride from start to finish that required a lot of work on my part to know the who's who of those used but in the end a great read match-wise and all the story-telling.
