From ringside ...
Tony Schiavone: From The Gulf Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Mississippi, WCW Monday Nitro is on the air! We are coming to you live on TNT with the hottest 2 hours in professional wrestling, less than 24 hours removed from the biggest PPV of the year Halloween Havoc, but if what we saw last night was any indication, Starrcade could end up even bigger. Hello wrestling fans, I'm Tony Schiavone joined as I am every week by The Living Legend Larry Zbyszko, and we will be bringing you all the action here tonight in hour #1. First off, before we get into anything tonight, some gigantic breaking news that we received earlier today. Stemming from an undisclosed incident that took place well after we went off the air last night, after the event, both Sid Vicious and Arn Anderson are not only not here tonight, but from what we understand, an indefinite suspension taking place there. Neither is here tonight and WCW management hopes to have this situation resolved in a timely manner. As I'm sure you're all aware though, Arn Anderson was scheduled to challenge Lord Steven Regal for the TV Title, that no longer taking place. J.J. Dillon hard at work the last few hours though, and get this. The main event here for hour #1 tonight will be Ice Train and Lord Steven, title for title. That's right, BOTH the U.S. title and the TV title will be on the line. Somebody could be leaving with both championships there.
Larry Zbyszko: And in this game of human chess, here we see a prime example of the unpredictability factor. You think you have everything figured out and then an unknown happens to throw everything into a tailspin. Where as 24 hours ago we were speculating on whether Arn Anderson could win the Tag Team title and the TV title, tonight on Nitro, it seems very likely that somebody will in fact leave with 2 titles. Who will it be though? That is the big question posed now.
Tony Schiavone: And that's not all. Also later tonight in hour #2, a rematch from last night with The Studd to take on Diamond Dallas Page. 2 Cold Scorpio and Marcus Alexander Bagwell won the battle royal last night, they get the Tag Team title shot, and that match is tonight when they challenge the champions, Beautiful Bobby Eaton and Chris Benoit. Also in the main event later, Sting is here, and he will take on the undefeated Yoshi Kwan.
Larry Zbyszko: And if you're Sting, you've got to think that coming off of last night, the man has more questions than he does answers. Not only did his name come up in regards to Hulk Hogan, but a mysterious figure from his past coming out during his match with Vader. Sting last night was stung, and by none other than the return of The Black Scorpion.
Tony Schiavone: Yes, and we hope to find out more about that, but (Sting's music starts to play), ok! There you hear it! We're kicking things off in a big way here. Apparently Sting has something to say and we're not going to be waiting to hear it!
Sting is out to a big ovation from the crowd. The normally jubilant Sting is all business though tonight as he heads to the ring without shaking hands with any fans and immediately requests a mic.
Sting: Last night at Halloween Havoc, I got screwed! Big Van Vader, you didn't beat me. Whoever was in that Black Scorpion get up did and I know exactly who it was. Brother Brutus, get out here now before I go back there and find you! Come on! I don't have all day. Get out here, NOW!
Sting waits as the entrance remains still. Nothing as the fans start to chant "Sting!, Sting!"
Sting: Alright, fair enough. Let's just cut to the chase then. Let's cut to the man you work for. HULK HOGAN! (the fans cheer) If you're back there, I'm giving you until the count of 10 to come out here. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, come on man! 6, 7, Hulkster, these fans are waiting! 8, 9, 10! Alright, no surprises here. Hulk Hogan and his little friend Brother Bruti just wanna sit back there and have a good laugh at my expense, well that's fine with me. I'm about to go back there and find them, and I promise that you're gonna regret the day you ever put on that Scorpion mask!
Sting starts to head out when ...
J.J. Dillon: Stop Sting! Stop!
The fans boo this appearance as he heads towards the ring. Sting develops an impatient look as he wants answers now.
J.J. Dillon: Hold on Sting. Hulk Hogan isn't here (the fans boo that announcement). I'm sorry, but until he's signed to a WCW contract, he will not be attending any events or allowed in the building. As for Brother Brutus, he's been given the night off. Rather than paying to fly him in just to sit in the back, we just had him sit at home tonight because of what happened out here last night. We wanna get to the bottom of this as much as you do. We watched him though last night in the back. Whatever you think of that Black Scorpion situation, I can assure you that it was not Brother Brutus.
Sting: Do I look stupid or something J.J.? Do these fans look stupid? Look, I know and they all know that it was the brother under that mask. It was the man with no name. Because of him, Vader kept that WCW title, but I'm telling you right now J.J., RIGHT NOW! I expect a rematch for that title. If you're not gonna give me Hogan or Brutus tonight, give me Vader! Give me a shot at the WCW title. Come on!
Sting gets the fans fired up as they want to see it too.
J.J. Dillon: I can't. (the fans boo that) You already have a match signed with Yoshi Kwan for tonight, another Harley Race guy was the closest I could do for you. I can't just sign a title match just like that. Even if under the means it was, Big Van Vader did still defeat you last night and I can't just sign a rematch a day later. The legal problems that WCW would face would be too much coming that quickly after the PPV, combined with a champion having a 30 day window to defend the title.
Sting: J.J., you're starting to make me upset now. I'm gonna give you 2 options right now out here. Option 1, you give me a match with Van Vader tonight for the title, or option 2, I make my own match out here and I can tell you right now that I'm looking the man I'm gonna put the Scorpion Deathlock on right in the face!
J.J. Dillon: Are you ... are you THREATENING me?! Listen here, I will not be bullied out here. Tonight, you're wrestling Yoshi Kwan in the main event, and if you don't like it Sting, there's the door.
The fans boo as Sting relents. He takes several steps towards the ropes before stopping. He turns and walks back to get in the commissioner's face.
Sting: What is this J.J., huh? What is this? You wanna get real out here, is that it? Alright, let's get real. Let's hypothetically forget Vader and the title for a minute here, and let's talk what all these people wanna hear us talk about. Let's talk Hulk Hogan.
The fans cheer as J.J. gulps and adjusts his glasses.
J.J. Dillon: Look, I don't know what else to tell you Sting. Hulk Hogan is not under WCW contract! Until he signs a contract, he will not be a part of this company in any way, shape, or form. We need a commitment from him.
Sting: So what's the problem then? What's the big hold up?
J.J. Dillon: I would love for Hulk Hogan to walk out that entrance right now as much as the next person, but Sting, it's not going to happen. I can't sign Hulk Hogan because he won't sign unless he gets what he wants, and quite frankly, I don't know what he wants.
The fans start to chant "Sting!, Sting!, Sting" again as if everybody in the building is indicating that what Hogan wants is a match with Sting.
Sting: Just listen J.J. You hear the fans? What are they saying?
J.J. Dillon: Wait. Are you saying that the fans want to see Hulk Hogan and ... Sting?!
The fans cheer, mixed with some saying "yes!" out of sync to each other.
Sting: Listen J.J.
J.J. Dillon: Ok, but what does Hogan want?
The fans once again chant "Sting!, Sting!, Sting!" as Dillon's ultra terrible ability to pick up on the obvious is coming back.
J.J. Dillon: Hold on. So you're all saying that what the fans want, AND what Hulk Hogan wants, is a match, with ... Sting?!
The fans cheer again as J.J. seems to finally be piecing everything together.
J.J. Dillon: So Sting and Hulk Hogan, ok. But here's the problem. Hulk Hogan isn't in WCW. I can't sign the match until I know what Hogan wants from Hogan himself. You know what though, I'm finished with this Sting. Look, you have a match tonight with Yoshi Kwan. You either wrestle or that's it. And don't test us right now because you know that 2 other guys were just shown the door. Nobody's above WCW, not even you. It doesn't matter if you want a rematch with Vader or you think you know what Hogan wants. You show up tonight for that main event, or don't show up again.
Dillon leaves the ring as fans boo while Sting paces in the ring frustrated by that. The commentators put over that Sting has a lot to think about tonight, and depending on his decision later, this could be the last we ever see of him in WCW!
-- First commercial break --
Tony Schiavone: Welcome back. Before the break just now, a very serious issue for tonight. Sting wants Big Van Vader tonight in a rematch, but J.J. Dillon stepping in to say no. Vader doesn't have to face Sting, instead he's getting Yoshi Kwan, another man managed by Harley Race. The bottom line here is, either Sting wrestles Kwan, or the commissioner has told him that he can walk because no 1 wrestler is above WCW.
Larry Zbyszko: Yoshi Kwan. The Oriental Assassin. If there wasn't enough reason for Sting not to want that match, here's another. The man is undefeated thus far in WCW. Nobody can stop him, and if Sting gets in there tonight, forget Vader, forget Hulk Hogan. It could be all over for him in the blink of an eye. That's if he shows up. If not, we may have just seen the last of Sting in a WCW ring.
Tony Schiavone: And as we approach Starrcade, well even before that, there is the Clash of Champions on Thanksgiving night on TBS. Thursday November 28, and if Sting is not a part of that event, that would be a huge blow to WCW Legend.
Larry Zbyszko: Any events for that matter going forward. This place may be a machine Schiavone. When 1 part breaks, you replace it, but Sting is something of a motor. A ring general. You don't just replace him over night, and hopefully ...
Big Van Vader and Harley Race come into the camera shot at ringside to interrupt.
Tony Schiavone: Hold on now. We're being joined by a man at the center of all this controversy, the WCW champion himself Big Van Vader, and manager Harley Race. J.J. Dillon making a ruling just now in your favor.
Harley Race: Of course it's in our favor! It's in our favor because it's the only decision he could make. This man last night defeated Sting. It doesn't matter how, it doesn't matter when, all that matters is that it happened. Vader pinned Sting 1, 2, 3 at the Halloween Havoc and that's it. He's not obligated to face Sting until the man climbs the ladder once again. There's no guaranteed rematch clause when a challenger loses right in the middle of the ring. Now I thought we'd be out here talking about Sid Vicious, but since that seems to be done now, everybody wants to know what's next for Vader. Who's next rather.
Tony Schiavone: If Sting can beat your man Yoshi Kwan, then I would think he might be. There is still time for him to get back to the #1 contender position after all.
Harley Race: No there's not! Sting lost. Sting won't even show up tonight. You heard what just happened. The man is a gutless coward. He's too scared to face Yoshi Kwan. He's too scared to face Vader again. The only reason he wants this match is hoping there's an off chance Vader slips on a banana peel or something and he just covers him. Well I got news for you Sting, that won't happen. Not tonight, not ever! Nobody can beat this man, NOBODY!
Big Van Vader: Sting! You're scared Sting. Afraid. Afraid of VADER! Last night Sting, you lost. You lost to me Sting. Tonight, walk away like the coward that you are. WALK AWAY! You can't handle this Sting, nobody can! Last night, every night, every time, it's my time Sting haha, it's my time. It's VADER TIME!
Tony Schiavone: Alright, Vader time! And whether or not Sting gets a rematch remains to be seen. Whether we see Sting again remains to be seen. Right now though, time for our opening match as we send it up to David Penzer.

The recent problems for The Hollywood Blonds have hit new highs in recent weeks, with both men walking out on the other in consecutive weeks here on Nitro. No wins in ages, bottom of the rankings, it seemed they were on the verge of a reversal of fortune in the battle royal last night until Steve Austin was sent into Brian Pillman and eliminated his own partner to give 2 Cold Scorpio and Marcus Alexander Bagwell the win and the title shot. Tonight they face a team that upset them 4 weeks ago with the aid of The Nasty Boys, The Cole Twins. Tony Schiavone thinks that a win here could define the brothers, but Larry Zbyszko thinks a win over The Blonds today is not what it used to be. The losing team tonight will undoubtedly be at the bottom of the ladder and have a long way to climb for a shot at the belts. The match is pretty uneventful with the commentators busy talking about the situation with Sting and Vader as both teams exchange the advantage. A forced tag by Austin to Pillman leads to some heat though. After some time, Pillman returns the favor, and Austin gets upset by it. As he enters he turns Pillman back and shoves him saying that "this is why we've been losing!". Tempers starts to flare as The Coles just sit back and watch with Austin getting into Pillman's face and eventually calling him the weak link of the team and a loser. Pillman's had enough and not only shoves Austin, but punches him as well. Austin gets sent right back into a schoolboy from Kent Cole, who holds him down for the 3. The Coles beat The Hollywood Blonds for a second time! Unlike the first occasion though where the focus was more on the upset, a month later and countless more losses have the focus on The Blonds themselves. Austin gets to his knees with Pillman calling him the loser. An upset Austin lunges at Pillman and takes him down with a tackle. The 2 are fighting in the ring with the crowd going crazy for this. The referee tries to separate them, getting added help from other referees. The Coles join in to get them separated, but Pillman breaks free and charges back at Austin to keep this going. Security manages to get Pillman out under the bottom rope and it looks like whatever hope there was of The Blonds finding their footing at the start of this match is now officially gone!
-- Second commercial break --
Tony Schiavone: Welcome back and before the break, we just saw what may be the final moments of The Hollywood Blonds. You wanna talk the possible end of Sting tonight, I think we just saw the official end of that duo.
Larry Zbyszko: The director has yelled cut. Lower the curtain. The once mighty tag team of The Hollywood Blonds have taken their last bow out here tonight. You know, it's probably for the better because neither of these guys were winning much out here as of late. I say let's pair them up against each other and see what happens. Who was really the weak link of that tag team. Austin says it was Pillman, Pillman says it was Austin. 1 is right, the other is wrong. We won't know who though until we get to see that match in the ring.
Tony Schiavone: And indeed, a chaotic night out here already. Just 24 hours ago at Halloween Havoc, a completely different landscape than the 1 we now know here. In case you missed it, Arn Anderson and Sid Vicious are both indefinitely suspended, neither of them here tonight, if ever again. The Hollywood Blonds are history. Sting, may be history as well. All the while Hulk Hogan may soon be arriving.
... Right now though, speaking of Halloween Havoc, we want to bring in a man who last night was unsuccessful in his challenge for the U.S. title, referring of course to Ron Simmons. Had to be a disappointing loss last night, but what fans really want to know about is what happened last week with Thunderbolt Patterson.
Ron Simmons: Hey, I have no idea man. You wanna ask me? I already paid the price out here. I didn't do a damn thing and last night I faced the wrath of the Ice Train for it. I was hoping to go in there and beat that man, but he showed that he's the real deal Tony Schiavone. He may be new, he may be a rookie, but he can get it done in the ring.
Larry Zbyszko: What about Harlem Heat then? Last week they all but took credit for that attack, knowing exactly what had happened before anybody else did.
Ron Simmons: Look, I didn't know nothing about anything, ok? I told Harlem Heat to stay out of this thing. I told them that this was something that I had to do on my own, ya feel me? This was about me proving I could beat the Ice Train, and instead that attack just got him more fired up. Now they've told me they weren't responsible for that, and this could just be a case of WCW trying to hold us down. Drive a wedge between us so we end up out here like those Hollywood Blond phonies just were, making it easier for WCW to push their agenda without us in the way. I intend to find out exactly what happened, and if I do find out that it was the Heat, you'd better believe there's gonna be some problems out here. You understand?
Larry Zbyszko: So you're saying you didn't order the hit so to speak?
Ron Simmons: Hey man, what you trying to start out here? That's exactly what I'm saying. I had absolutely nothing to do with that last week and if I come to find out who did, you can bet they gonna answer to me!
Tony Schiavone: Alright, and Harlem Heat will be in action this weekend on Saturday Night on TBS. You'll want to check that out. Right now though, back to David Penzer as we go back to the ring for more action.

The much anticipated match with The Nature Boy Ric Flair and The Lone Wolf Barry Windham last night ended indecisively when Flair was DQd. Neither man got what they were looking for in that match, and it would seem a rematch could be in order between them. The commentators make mention that WCW is looking at signing a rematch for the Thanksgiving night Clash of Champions, but due to a lot else going on, were not able to get to that tonight. Hopefully more on that in the coming weeks. Tonight Windham is back in action with his opponent being the always capable Johnny Gunn. The match sees Gunn get the early offense going, but Windham manages to make the comeback. Gunn starts making a comeback of his own with Windham maybe distracted by Flair, but he manages to swat aside a dropkick attempt. When Gunn gets up, Windham locks in the same iron claw he used last week. Gunn goes down and before long the referee is calling for the bell. Windham gets the submission win here, but getting him to release it is easier said than done. Finally he breaks and going to the camera says that "the Horsemen are falling and you're next to go Flair!" Tony Schiavone mentions that Flair will be here later tonight to address a rematch with Windham.
-- Third commercial break --
Tony Schiavone: Alright, welcome back to more WCW Monday Nitro, here on TNT. Still to come tonight, we'll hear from The Nature Boy Ric Flair, and also tentatively set main event to see Sting against Yoshi Kwan. I say tentative because Sting does't want that match, he wants Hulk Hogan, he wants Brother Brutus, he wants a rematch with Big Van Vader, none of which our commissioner can deliver here tonight. He told Sting that you either wrestle, or you can walk.
Larry Zbyszko: And you know, I have a hard time imagining WCW without Sting, but as hard a time as that would be, what about J.J. Dillon? The pressure has to be getting to him. He doesn't have an easy job out here, and it seems to me like things are turning against him pretty fast. He'd better get results soon or we could see a new commissioner in place before much longer.
Tony Schiavone: Also tonight, the WCW Tag Team title are on the line, rematch from last night when The Studd takes on Diamond Dallas Page, but ... wait ... what is this?
Stunning Steve Austin of The Hollywood Blonds is out.
Steve Austin: Can't nobody deny that I'm the heart and soul of The Hollywood Blonds. You know it son, and you know it, ain't nobody in the back better than Stunning Steve, and I got-
He gets interrupted when from the back comes Flyin' Brian Pillman. Both are visibly upset with each other.
Tony Schiavone: Hold on here. We've got Flyin' Brian as well. Gentlemen, please-
Larry Zbyszko: Hey guys, cool it out here!
Brian Pillman: Nobody's out here for you Legendary Loser, so stay out of this! I'm so sick and tired of you (referring to Austin). All you do is lose every week, and I'm-
Steve Austin: Listen here, you'd better check your tone when you're out here talking to me. I'm the only reason this team ain't ever done a damn thing out here, and you know it! You've been holding me back now and-
Brian Pillman: I'm holding you back?
Steve Austin: What's the matter son, you got wax in your ears? Or are you just too stupid to understand what I'm saying. What I'm saying is that you are the reason we've been losing and you're keeping a bonafide superstar like myself from being in the main event out here. You're holding me down and that's all there is to it!
Brian Pillman: Then how about next week, right here on Nitro, you and me in that ring? What do you say "superstar"?
Steve Austin: I'll see you next week and you had better believe that I'm gonna be coming down there to show you just who is THE number 1 wrestler in the WCW today.
Brian Pillman: I'll see you next week then!
Pillman walks off with Austin following several feet behind, yelling at each other.
Tony Schiavone: Did you hear that? Next week, here?
Larry Zbyszko: Well something had to give. They hadn't won a match in months out here. At least now 1 of them will get a win next week.
Tony Schiavone: Alright, and right now, we go back to the ring, title for title! Main event here on hour #1 as we send it to David Penzer for the introductions.

WCW U.S. Title vs WCW TV Title
vs
vs
Originally scheduled as Arn Anderson challenging for the TV Title after 2 non title wins tonight, an indefinite suspension for him and Sid Vicious while WCW investigates the matter has put a stop to that. So as not to disappoint the fans tonight though, in steps U.S. champion Ice Train to take the match, hot off a big win over Ron Simmons last night at Halloween Havoc. Lord Steven Regal had no obligation to defend the TV Title against Train, but cowardice quickly turned to greed as the provision that Train put up his U.S. Title as well was enough to get Regal to change his mind. 1 man could leave tonight with both championships! Regal is out first, and no sign of Jean Paul Levesque. Every sign of a commercial break though as we will be right back with Ice Train's intro and the match.
-- Fourth commercial break --
WCW Saturday Night Preview for November 2
- Harlem Heat are in action
- Johnny B. Badd is in action
- The Nasty Boys in tag team action
- All that and more, this Saturday at 6:05 eastern on TBS.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ice Train is in the ring, just catching the tail end of his entrance. He passes off the title as the music stops. Regal reluctantly gives his and the referee holds up both belts in an extremely rare champion vs champion match. The commentators push that at the end of this match, 1 of these men could hold both those belts. The match starts out with Regal stalling and killing time, prompting Larry Zbyszko to stand up from the ringside commentary table and tell him to get him in the ring. Regal and Zbyszko have had some back and forths in interviews recently and here it is bleeding into the actual action. Regal has some words before finally getting into the ring and getting started. Train controls the match early with Regal's submission and wear down hold attempts just being overpowered by Train. Regal finally gets some offense in, hitting several European uppercuts before leaping at Train but getting caught. Train slams him down. Regal rolls out and gets joined at ringside by Jean Paul Levesque. The 2 confer before Regal gets back in. A distraction from Levesque gives Regal the opportunity to jump Train from behind. The action goes to the mat where it gets noted that Train's size advantage disappears. Train though fights to get back up where Regal gets rocked by a shoulderblock. There is just no beating Train here tonight. A second distraction from Levesque getting on the apron leads to Regal charging from behind, only for Train to telegraph it, side step and send Regal crashing into Levesque. Train gives a big "choo! choo!" with Regal down. Suddenly though, somebody hits the ring ...
The commentators identify the wrestler as Tex Slazenger, the man that Ice Train defeated many months ago in the Underdog Challenge to get his spot in WCW. Slazenger has a bullrope in hand and is mercifully beating down Train as the bell rings, an obvious DQ win for Train. The title vs title will not see either belt change hands here, but Train could be in some trouble. Slazenger gets Train up and sends him into the ropes, clotheslining him down with the bullrope. Slazenger kicks him as the referee tells him to back off. Regal leaves with Levesque, making sure to grab his championship on the way out. Clearly some unfinished business though here, stemming from way back when. The commentators wonder if the success of Train since that match, maybe Slazenger feels that it should have been his and he is coming to take it? Whatever the case, Train is unlikely to just take a beating like this without eventual retaliation.
-- Fifth commercial break --
