Main Event Wrestling
Quanah High School
Quanah, Texas i
October 16, 1993
Referee: James Beard
A Wednesday of wrestling action across the border in Quanah, Texas!
Dino Hernandez and the masked War Dog i give us our first match of the evening, leaving much to be desired with their in-ring ability. At least it is pretty short as Damien Strange's man Horace the Psychopath hits the ring and bludgeons the two. The match is tossed out immediately but that doesn't mena any less of a beatdown on the two wrestlers until Strange calls off his "dog"
Strange on the mic for a bit promises that things will never be the same here at Main Event Wrestling, followed by melodramatic laughter but no explanation.
Horace stays in the ring, facing Shane Cortez in the next match. They've gone at it before and just like last time, Shane bumps like crazy, taking a beatdown just the same. This one is close to being tossed out several times by the referee by the "mouthpiece", Damien Strange is enough of a distraction to keep that from happening. FInally, this one ends with a flying elbow off the top rope. Afterwards, Strange gets in a few bootstomps for good luck.
Ravishing Ray Evans dressed in the colors of the state of Texas (red, white and blue) with a big Lone Star right over his privates. In Texas, a little less flamboyant and Rick Rude-like, playing the face tonight against the Oklahoma Outlaw i. A little sloppy at times but Evens is able to pull it all together to get a decent match out of his opponent, finishing him off with a bulldog for the three count.
The Head Groupie
The lovely Groupie, Tammy leads the long haired Bon Jovi Boys, Don and Dean, to the ring for a match against the Native American team of Billy Ray and Running Wolf. Loads of lip service from both teams but especially the Head Groupie. She nails Running Wolf with a slap to the face when he gets a little too close before it all escalates. Referee James Beard has his hands full throughout with both teams nearly winning. We are in Texas and the mascot of the high school the show is at are the Indians ... put two and two together and the team (announced as Tribal Warfare) gets the nod today. Match of the evening up to this point which had a little bit of everything.
We have an intermission with Bill Ash and Lolly Dude thanking everyone for coming out and their support of Main Event Wrestling. Continued support is highly appreciated!
Ring veteran Tom Jones draws the leader of the House of Strange, Damien Strange. Hard hitting match with Strange breaking rules at every turn. Strange gets himself twisted up like a pretzel several times but is wily and crafty enough to escape the predicament. The end comes when Jones is able to catch his opponent in the cobra clutch. No matter how hard he tries to escape, there is no getting out of this before being rendered unconscious.
Afterwards, Horace the Psychopath tries to intervene before the odds are a little more evened up when Treach Phillips Jr. and Bill Ash come out. Strange promises tough times "a-coming" to MEW.
Our main event is the same as the Lawton and Durant shows with Treach Phillips Jr. and Odell Buckingham going one on one but this time, there is a little more on the line than just getting a win or a loss.
TITLE BELTS!
In this case, singular with the MEW Heavyweight Title on the line. Once again, Bill Ash is the referee. A handshake between the two combatants starts the match off that is very competitive. Again, an easy time for the referee as both combatants listen to the referees commands and obey them. The short man carrying a stepstool comes out to observe the match and offer words of advice and encouragement to Treach Phillips Jr. Quickly, he has the fans clapping and cheering Phillip's name which throws Buckingham off his game, first being annoyed with the distracting chanting as well getting a little sloppy as the match continues on. Treach throws it into high gear, nearly getting the pinfall which pushes Buckingham to throwing a couple of punches. Ash quickly admonishes his former student who apologizes but rather than calm Phillips Jr., it moves him to end it. With a quick waistlock, Treach is able to put Buckingham on the mat before rolling him to his back with a beautiful La Magistral. The leg kicking Odell Buckingham is able to kick out just AFTER three ...
Main Event Wrestling has it's first Heavyweight Champion ...
Treach Phillips Jr.
Odell Buckingham is once again reluctant to shake hands afterwards but does so, following some words from referee Bill Ash. The short guy hits the ring and hugs a surprised Champion who can only answer by patting the guy on the head. With Beard prying the man off of Phillips, Treach parades around the ring, celebrating with the fans.
The show ends with several of the wrestlers coming out to congratulate Treach Phillips Jr. for his big win.

- Quanah, Texas, just a few miles from the Texas/Oklahoma border, was established in 1884 as a stop on the Fort Worth and Denver Railway. It was named after Quanah Parker, the last Comanche chief.
Of note, the ghost town of Medicine Mound lies southeast of Quanah and convicted serial killer Judy Buenoano claims Quanah as her birthplace.
- Dino Hernandez (Walter Salinas) and the War Dog (Glenn Wentz) are both graduates of Tugboat Taylor's Houston, Texas-based wrestling school.
- Longtime area wrestler, Bernard Funk, also known by the aliases of Jordan Taylor, "Dirty" Dick Funk, Jerry Funk, "Dangerous" Dylan Lee and Ric Feltz, has been working as The Oklahoma Outlaw, looking very similar to the 1984 USFL's Oklahoma Outlaws' mascot with black hat and matching bandana covering the lower portion of his face.
