The AWA (American Wrestling Association) opens with a colleague of photos of former AWA Wrestling legends with Verne Gagne, The Vachons, Nick Bockwinkel, The High Flyers (Greg Gagne & Jim Brunzell), Billy Robinson, Baron Von Raschke, Larry Hennig & Harley Race, Doctor X, Dick the Bruiser & The Crusher, The Road Warriors, Curt Hennig, Madusa Miceli, Scott Hall, Wendi Richter, the Midnight Rockers and Larry Zbyszko before going into the AWA Studio on WGN where we join the announcing team of 'Mean' Gene Okerlund and Jim Ross. Gene and Jim welcome the fans back to another exciting hour of AWA Wrestling when AWA President Nick Bockwinkel comes out and says he has two major announcements involving the AWA Tag Team Title Match and the AWA Junior Heavyweight Title Match this Saturday night in the UIC Pavillion in Chicago.
First of all, Bockwinkel explains that he received the signed contracts from the last holders of the AWA Tag Team Belts, the Barbarian and the Warlord, the day after the tv tapings last week. Nick says they weren't happy about the events surrounding the AWA Tag Team Belts. So in all fairness to them, they will be reinstated as the tag team champs as they were never beaten for the belts. However, the Barbarian and Warlord will defend the belts against the winner of the elimination tag match between Can-Am Express (Dan Kroffat and Doug Furnas) and the team of Money Inc. managed by Woman on today's program.
Gene and Jim air a taped interview with the Barbarian and the Warlord regarding the titles. They say the belts are theirs and they will defend them against anybody the AWA puts in front of them. They ultimate goal is the World Tag Team Belts held by the Sissy Steiner Boys but they will first take care of the Can-Am Express or Money Inc. Saturday night in the UIC Pavilion in Chicago. The champs add they are ready to take care of business and that means busting heads and winning matches.
Back at the desk, Bockwinkle said he was contacted by Mr, Fuji, the manager of Japanese great Mitsuhara Misawa and a former great junior heavyweight champ for All-Japan Pro Wrestling, who requested to be taken out of the match with Steve Simpson for the AWA junior heavyweight belt. According to Mr. Fuji, Misawara has been competing as a heavyweight for the past two years and would not be able to get down to the weight limit. But fortunately, Nick says he was contacted earlier in the week by former AWA junior champ 'Mr. Electricity' Steve Regal about returning to the AWA. Regal jumped at the chance to wrestle for the belt. Now it will be Steve Regal against Steve Simpson for the belt. Jim runs down the Saturday card at the UIC Pavillion in Chicago.

Back at the desk, an irate Woman demands to be heard and Okerlund obliges. Woman says this is wrong and Bockwinkel has right to do this. Money Inc. was not prepared to face Kroffat and Furnas today. Dibiase and Rotounda join in and claim that Bockwinkel and the board of directors is doing this to keep the belts off the rightful champs. Mike adds that when they whip The Can-Am Express, they will beat the hell out of the so-called tag champs the Barbarian and the Warlord. They angrily head to the ring.
We go to the ring with ring announcer Mike McGuirk.
