Taped from Center Stage on October 10, 1993
October 12, 1993

Atlanta, Georgia
Tony Schiavone: Welcome everybody to WCW Saturday Night, here on TBS. I'm Tony Schiavone and joining me this week as he does every week is Jesse The Body Ventura, and what a show we have in store for you this week. We will not only take you back to Monday on Nitro and show you what happened when Sting took on Sid Vicious in the main event, but also what happened with the guaranteed contract that Hulk Hogan's associate Brother Brutus scammed himself into. Did it hold up? Also tonight in our main event, Arn Anderson to take on the TV champion Lord Steven Regal. The title is not on the line, but after what was said Monday, Anderson might have all the motivation he needs.
Jesse Ventura: And what? You don't think Lord Steven has reason to be upset?! You heard what he had to say. Arn Anderson losing the WCW Tag Team title was an embarrassment to real champions like him. He should be ashamed of himself, and it's that shame that could put The Enforcer down right here tonight!
Tony Schiavone: Should be a classic. In addition, we'll hear from Harlem Heat about the challenge put down by The Road Warriors just 5 days ago as they want to settle the score once and for all in the ring.
Jesse Ventura: And wouldn't that be something Schiavone? Can you imagine it, right here on Saturday Night, The Road Warriors against The Harlem Heat? We could see it, and hopefully tonight we'll get some answers out of the boys from Harlem, that is, if they're not too afraid, ha!
Tony Schiavone: And in addition to that, we'll also see The Road Warriors in action here tonight. Plus when we return, we'll be joined by the WCW champion Big Van Vader and his manager Harley Race. Big night of action and lots to come over the next hour, so don't go anywhere! We'll be right back.
-- First commercial break --
The WCW Heavyweight champion Big Van Vader and manager Harley Race are out to talk about the end of Nitro this past Monday. Race tells the viewers that any issues between The Masters of The Power Bomb are just an illusion and he assures everybody that unlike Sting who is busy worrying about Hulk Hogan, Vader's focus is 100% on Halloween Havoc and the title defense. Vader has beat Sting before when he won the title and in 2 weeks time, he intends to do it again. As for this Monday on Nitro and the non title match with Cactus Jack, Vader is going to do a personal favor for Sid Vicious and not only soften him up, but do 1 better and do what Sid himself could not do, take him out of wrestling permanently. Vader closes with a few words, threats towards Cactus ahead of their match.
Match #1
The Road Warriors defeated Mark Starr and Mike Thor when Hawk pinned Starr after the Doomsday Device. Dominant performance, with a lot of the commentators' focus on Harlem Heat and a possible match to settle that score once and for all. Jesse Ventura tells viewers that he intends on getting an answer from the Heat to the challenge from Monday because that is a match he wants to see, pushing that next week on Saturday Night would be the perfect time and place for it to go down. Completely unrelated to the match, Ventura in passing mentions the opening weekend box office numbers of Demolition Man vs Mr Nanny from a week ago, $14.2 million at #1 vs $1.8 million and not even cracking the top 10, pointing out that even without WCW's help, him and Stallone can still crush Hogan. Tony Schiavone tells him he had better get that resume ready, at which point Ventura says he does not care, he has more money than WCW has made in its existence. Technically true and damaging statements to make in most companies except when nobody in a position of power bothers to watch their own product to know it was even said in the first place.
-- Second commercial break --
Brad Armstrong is interviewed about what went down this past Monday on Nitro with Gentleman Chris Adams. Armstrong tells the viewers that he was just out there providing some wrestling commentary from an actual wrestler and Adams had no business superkicking him just because he defeated him the week before. He says that there a lot of people out there that think wrestling should just be straight up matches with no need for the added drama that a lot of these guys provide. A real wrestling fan just wants to see wrestler A vs wrestler B and he is not going to buy into Adams' charade and go into the theatrics for fans, but what he will do is teach him a wrestling lesson of a lifetime this coming Monday on Nitro. Done as a courtesy to not only Adams himself, but to all the fans out there as well.
Match #2
Dustin Rhodes defeated Mark Kyle via pinfall after the running Bulldog. Rhodes looks good in this outing as he continues to count down the days until he can get that rematch with Ravishing Rick Rude for his World championship as recognized by WCW International. Before that, Rhodes has a follow up to the tag team match last Saturday when he takes on Sid Vicious this coming Monday on Nitro, a match that Jesse Ventura thinks could cut Rhodes championship ambitions off before they can even get going.
-- Third commercial break --
HALLOWEEN HAVOC CONTROL CENTER
- Eric Bischoff is standing by for the third installment. The event takes place live on PPV in 2 weeks time on Sunday October 27 from The Lake Front Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana. The WCW Heavyweight title is on the line when champion Big Van Vader defends against former champion Sting. Rowdy Roddy Piper takes on Ravishing Rick Rude. The Nature Boy Ric Flair goes 1 on 1 with The Lone Wolf Barry Windham. As announced this past Monday on Nitro, Ice Train defends the WCW U.S. title against Ron Simmons. Plus just signed after the events of this past Monday and over recent weeks, The Studd gets his chance at revenge when he battles Diamond Dallas Page. It is Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal when Cactus Jack takes on Sid Vicious. The match stipulations to be determined by a spin of the wheel that night. More matches will be announced in the coming weeks. Halloween Havoc, Sunday October 27, live on PPV. Don't miss it!
Match #3
Ron Simmons defeated Johnny Rich via pinfall after a lifting spinebuster slam. Simmons destroys the competition as he readies himself for a chance at the WCW U.S. title held by Ice Train in 2 weeks time. The commentators talk about the unusual approach where the champion challenged the challenger out of respect for him, which Jesse Ventura thinks could be Ice Train's downfall because he has shown weakness and Simmons is the type to exploit that.
-- Fourth commercial break --

Harlem Heat are interviewed about the recent challenge thrown down by The Road Warriors to settle the rivalry between the 2 tag teams. Stevie Ray tells the viewers that they have no reason to be afraid of them because as a reminder, it was them that took out Animal from the War Games match, and they have been looking for the opportunity to do it again, accepting the match. Asked on the possibility of next week here on Saturday Night, Booker T says they would love nothing more than to kick their butts around Center Stage, before quickly refusing with a no. When it gets pointed out that their mentor Ron Simmons did not hesitate to accept Ice Train's challenge and asked if they are afraid, they quickly get goaded into accepting. It is on for next week, The Road Warriors vs Harlem Heat.

Match #4
Arn Anderson defeated WCW TV champion Steven Regal in a non title match via pinfall after a DDT. The 2 sides went back and forth with both coming close to the win on several occasions. Time in the match was winding down with calls towards the 10 minute time limit coming up. Regal was in control and all seemed lost for The Enforcer when he managed to telegraph Regal dropping his head too soon and caught him with the DDT with the fans counting down the final 10 seconds. Anderson gets a measure of revenge on Regal's comments from this past Monday on Nitro and this non title victory would have to put Anderson right at the top of the list of contenders that are in line for a shot at Regal's title. Before that though, another non title match when he gets his chance at revenge again Monday on Nitro, teaming with Horseman in training Shane Douglas against the team that defeated him and Ric Flair for the WCW Tag Team championship in Beautiful Bobby Eaton and Chris Benoit. Jesse Ventura says that this is a huge test for Douglas and could be a determining factor on whether or not he is in fact Horseman material.
Cactus Jack is interviewed, first asked about the match this coming Monday on Nitro against Big Van Vader. Cactus tells the viewers that a match with a man like Vader is always dangerous, but he has nothing to lose here and Vader needs to understand that. He intends to go all out and prove to everybody he is deserving of a match for the WCW title, a conversation that seems to center around names like Sting and Sid Vicious. And speaking of Sid Vicious, if he thinks that he is going to use him as a stepping stone, he had better think again because their match at Halloween Havoc is Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal, the most dangerous match in WCW because it literally could be anything. A Steel Cage match, a Falls Count Anywhere match, an I Quit match, the possibilities are endless and Sid need not worry about Vader because after he loses in 2 weeks time, there will not be a match with Vader, in fact there might never be any matches against for Sid after he gets finished "bang! bang!"
Tony Schiavone closes the show by reminding viewers to tune this coming Monday for Nitro on TNT at 8pm eastern, and to come back next week at 6:05 for more WCW on Saturday Night. Until then, so long!
