Tony Schiavone: Welcome everybody to WCW Saturday Night, right here on TBS. I'm Tony Schiavone and we are only 24 hours away from 1 of the biggest nights of action all year when Fall Brawl comes to your way on PPV, War Games. Tonight though we have a preview of what you can expect because in tonight's main event, it will be Ric Flair and Arn Anderson, the WCW Tag Team champions, against Harlem Heat in non title competition in a Best 2 out of 3 Falls match Jesse.
Jesse Ventura: And thanks for introducing me there. Next time you wanna forget me like that, you can forget coming to work too, ha! But you are absolutely right, it is all about War Games right now and tonight, both teams are gonna be looking for any advantage they can in that match. Will either of them find it? Who knows, but we're fixin' to find out right here tonight!
Tony Schiavone: We certainly are. Also tonight, another preview of what's to come tomorrow when The Diamond Studd teams with Diamond Dallas Page against their former business associate Barry Windham and Scotty Flamingo.
Jesse Ventura: And you gotta think this relationship went south in a hurry after what The Studd did to Windham a couple weeks back. He goes from watching his back to stabbing him in the back and I gotta tell you, I don't blame The Lone Wolf in the least for being upset with this. And caught in the middle of it all is DDP, but if tonight is any indication, it would look like he's sticking with his meal ticket and we'll find out if he pays the price for that decision courtesy of Barry Windham.
Tony Schiavone: Also in action, The Masters of The Power Bomb are here when Big Van Vader and Sid Vicious team to take on The Z Man and Johnny Gunn. That is our opening contest and we'll be right back, plus joining us when we return, comments from the new U.S. champion the Ice Train. Don't turn that channel because this is where the action is, right here tonight and only on TBS. Stay tuned wrestling fans.
-- First commercial break --
Ice Train is interviewed about his U.S. title win this past Monday on Nitro. Train tells the viewers that what started with winning the WCW Strongest Arm tournament has culminated with the U.S. title, carrying with it a long legacy of the greats of wrestling. He hopes to represent the country along those same lines and the first chance he gets to give Sid Vicious a rematch, he wants to take it and show everybody that his win was no accident. He also wants to personally thank Thunderbolt Patterson for training him and bringing him to the level needed to do this in such a short amount of time.
Match #1
Big Van Vader and Sid Vicious defeated The Z Man and Johnny Gunn when Vicious pinned Gunn after a powerbomb. The Masters of the Power Bomb give a dominant performance over a top tag team tonight and show little signs of discontent with each other following Monday's Nitro, with Harley Race leading the way. Although as Jesse Ventura notes, they appear to be going through a series of 1 upsmanship here. After the match, the assault continues with Vader laying out Zenk and giving him a powerbomb for good measure.
-- Second commercial break --
Lord Steven Regal is interviewed about his TV title defense tomorrow night at Fall Brawl against Ken Shamrock. Regal tells the viewers that he has not put any more thought into this match than the total sum of the fans here tonight are capable of for anything in the first place, and he expects that tomorrow will just be another demonstration of why he is the best wrestler in WCW today. Sir William comes out to interrupt the interview, again begging for another chance with Regal. The champion refuses but when William mentions he has a match later tonight with Shamrock, Regal suddenly takes an interest and thinks that the 2 of them should talk.
Match #2
2 Cold Scorpio and Marcus Alexander Bagwell defeated Mark Kyle and Mike Thor when Scorpio pinned Kyle after the 450 Splash.
-- Third commercial break --
Ron Simmons is interviewed about possible dissension on his team for War Games stemming from Monday's Nitro. Simmons tells the viewers to look no further than the opening match tonight and to forget what happened on Monday. All that matters now is that the team is united and now that they know their opponents and there are no more mind games like last minute additions and swerves, they have a game plan drawn up. He says that for a sampling, look no further than later tonight in the main event when Harlem Heat take on the WCW Tag Team champions Ric Flair and Arn Anderson in the main event.
Match #3
Johnny B. Badd defeated Frankie Lancaster via pinfall after the Kiss That Don't Miss.
-- Fourth commercial break --
FALL BRAWL CONTROL CENTER
- Eric Bischoff is standing by for the final installment. The event comes live on PPV in 24 hours time on Sunday night September 15 from The Rosemont Horizon in Chicago, Illinois. The PPV features the return of War Games, last seen on WCW PPV at the Wrestle War PPV in May 1992. The match will features 2 teams of 5 against each other in the awesome double cage structure surrounding 2 rings. The 2 teams are Sting, Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Road Warrior Hawk, and Cactus Jack, and their opposition is Big Van Vader, Ron Simmons, Sid Vicious, and Harlem Heat. As seen this past Monday, Cactus Jack has returned to WCW and will fill the void created by the injury to Road Warrior Animal several weeks back as he seeks revenge against Sid for putting him out of action for nearly 4 months. Also on the card, Dustin Rhodes challenges Ravishing Rick Rude for the World title. Rhodes has defeated Rude for gold once, can he do it again? Barry Windham defends his NJPW Greatest 18 title against The Diamond Studd as we saw on Nitro Monday, although Windham is adamant that the match not happen. Ken Shamrock challenges WCW TV champion Lord Steven Regal for the title after winning a battle royal on Nitro a few weeks back to become #1 contender. Some tag team action as The Hollywood Blonds battle the returning Nasty Boys, last seen at Slamboree in May, as well as 2 Cold Scorpio and Marcus Alexander Bagwell against Bobby Eaton and Chris Benoit. Also as announced on Monday's Nitro, Yoshi Kwan makes his WCW debut against Heavy Metal Van Hammer. 7 big matches as it all heads your way in tomorrow night, September 15 live on PPV, it is Fall Brawl: War Games, don't miss it!
Match #4
The Diamond Studd and Dallas Page vs Barry Windham and Scotty Flamingo ended in a no contest when Page turned on Studd and the 3 started to triple team him. Studd had fought the whole match before going to tag DDP, who came in and just turned back to Studd to give him a Diamond Cutter. This of course stems from Studd refusing to relinquish the title shot that he "stole" in DDP's words as he can be overheard yelling at Studd that he made him look bad and embarrassed him with his actions. Windham would put on the loaded black glove and deck Studd with it to leave him laying. Flamingo joined in on the celebration acting like 1 of the boys, and they seemed accommodating at first until Windham kicked him in the gut and gave him the Implant DDT. Jesse Ventura has a good laugh at the expense of Flamingo, just a measly pawn in the plan to get at Studd, and the wrong place at the wrong time.
-- Fifth commercial break --
Bobby Eaton and Chris Benoit are interviewed about their tag team match tomorrow night at Fall Brawl. Eaton tells the viewers that he sees a lot of himself 10 years ago in Benoit and that he can not say the same about Marcus Bagwell or 2 Cold Scorpio. He calls them misfits that are only trying their luck as a team because they are both no good on their own. Benoit says that unlike himself, the 2 of them show no discipline in the ring and do not possess the skills necessary to become a championship caliber team unlike they do. Eaton chimes in that at this same age, he had more titles won than both of them combined and the 2 have a good laugh about that.
Match #5
Van Hammer defeated Sgt. Buddy Lee Parker via pinfall after the slingshot suplex. During the match, the mysterious figure, presumably Yoshi Kwan, came out by the entrance and got a closer look at the action. With his face mostly covered by a Japanese hand fan, it is hard to get a good look at him but Tony Schiavone sells that tomorrow night at Fall Brawl we will see more of him in his debut. Hammer challenges him to come in and then leaves the ring going right up to him. Nothing though and Hammer just walks by with Jesse Ventura commending Kwan's incredible discipline.
-- Sixth commercial break --
Road Warrior Hawk is interviewed about War Games. He tells the viewers that this will be a golden opportunity to get revenge on Harlem Heat for what they did to his partner Animal, and he intends to make them suffer and use every inch of that double cage to do it with. Asked about the issues between Sting and Ric Flair, Hawk will only say that what is in the past needs to stay in the past and if they can focus on today, he sees no reason the 5 of them can not overcome the opposition and come out on top either through submission or surrender. He ends the interview with a trademark "OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, what a rush!"
Match #6
Ken Shamrock defeated Sir William via pinfall after the Belly to Belly Suplex. During the match, Lord Steven Regal came out to get a closer look at the action. William ended up outside the ring with the referee turning his back to ask Shamrock something, at which point Regal helped William up, only to throw him into the ring post before rolling him back in. Shamrock seemed surprised by this as Jesse Ventura once again howled with laughter about somebody's misfortunes, although he does wonder about the idea of risking getting William on his bad side rather than use him to his advantage tomorrow night at Fall Brawl when it matters.
-- Seventh commercial break --
Dustin Rhodes is interviewed about his upcoming title match tomorrow night at Fall Brawl, challenging Rick Rude. Rhodes tells the viewers that just like he defeated Rude once before for championship gold and then again in the tag team match this past Monday on Nitro, he intends to do it again on Sunday in Chicago. The topic of father Dusty returning Monday comes up with the possibility of him being in Dustin's corner to combat Alexandra York, but Dustin says he is out to do this on his own and he does need any help. He even welcomes York sticking her nose in where it does not belong because he just might give her a Rude Awakening of his own, Natural style (whatever that means).
Match #7
Fall 1
Harlem Heat defeated Ric Flair and Arn Anderson via countout when Anderson was left outside the ring after interference by Ron Simmons was missed by the referee that laid him out. This gives Harlem Heat the first fall in this non title match and a big advantage heading into fall #2. Flair tries to tell the referee what happened and while there will be nothing overturned, Simmons gets sent to the back to a big pop. Simmons initially refuses but the call gets made that if he does not, Harlem Heat will forfeit the remainder of this match. Simmons reluctantly heads away as the show goes to commercial.
-- Eighth commercial break --
Fall #2
Ric Flair and Arn Anderson defeated Harlem Heat when Flair pinned Stevie Ray using a small package reversal. Winning the second fall, Flair was going for a Figure 4 Leglock when Stevie blocked it and rolled Flair up, only for Flair to reverse it and get the pin. An important shift in momentum when it matters, but a side bicycle kick from Booker T would catch Flair between falls and lead to complete ignorance of the rest period as the third fall just starts early despite complaints from Anderson about this. The second fall was joined in progress due to the commercial break.
Fall #3
Ric Flair and Arn Anderson defeated Harlem Heat via DQ when Ron Simmons returned and this time blatantly interfered in the match as Flair and Anderson had the Heat on the go following a comeback. Flair and Anderson win the third fall and the match, but could be in a bad way here. Out from the back comes Road Warrior Hawk to help even the sides and then Sting to really push the numbers in their favor as Simmons and the Heat take to the floor. Big Van Vader and Sid Vicious are out with Harley Race as the 5 consider getting back in there, but Cactus Jack comes in and with even numbers, the heels do not bother. Jesse Ventura agrees with this because they have the match at War Games tomorrow, why waste the time right now when you are not getting paid for it.
Sting is interviewed to close the show, being joined by Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Road Warrior Hawk, and Cactus Jack following the end of the last match. Sting tells the viewers that they have just seen what the true fortitude of their opponents in the War Games is and says that the 5 of them are nothing but cowards and they will not face them at even strength after weeks of 5 on 4's but tomorrow they will have no choice. Flair comes in, still heavily breathing after the match and tells them that they had better be prepared for the fight of their lives tomorrow because this is War Games and whether submission or surrender, somebody on that team is going down. He ends with a "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" psyching up his team as Tony Schiavone reminds viewers that it all happens tomorrow night on PPV. Fall Brawl, War Games. Until then, so long.
