We kicked off a huge Monday Night show with The Spellbinder going one on one with Rose of the Bad Crew w/"Boston Bad Boy" Tony Rumble. Just another way to spotlight the mysterious Spellbinder here. Easy win for the Spellbinder in just 2:28 with a spin wheelkick.



More big time singles action follows as Koko B. Ware finally gets his hands on New Jack w/ Wolfie D in his corner. Due to Jack's involvement this one is a brawl, not many wrestling moves out of Jack, eye rakes, gouges, chokes, cheap shots from Wolfie D but he can't avoid a small package out of nowhere from Koko at the 7 minute mark, that gives B. Ware the win. Official time 7:10.



Post Match- Wolfie D & Jack attack Koko as soon as he's announced as the winner of course. They double up on the poor guy, but THE SPELLBINDER returns to ringside! They double up on the big man as he enters, but he's able to duck under a dog clothesline attempt and take both men out with one of his own! The heels scurry as the big man helps Koko to his feet!

The USWA Jr. Heavyweight Championship was on the line as Brian Christopher once again went one on one with "Suicide Blonde" Chris Candido. Both men are settling into their new roles quite nicely, Christopher in particular is such a natural heel. Fantastic little match that was building perhaps to Candido winning but a shocking finish see's..



DARYL VAN HORNE'S END OF DAYS MONSTER HIT THE RING! Christopher gets the hell out of there, but Candido isn't fast enough. Big thrust chop to the throat sets up the Power Bomb from the monster, as Van Horne jumps for joy! Candido has been laid out by Doomsday! Official result: No Contest at 12:29.

Tag Team Action followed as the Dangerous Alliance duo of "Terrific" Terry Taylor & "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol w/ Paul E. Dangerously took on the duo of "Nightmare" Danny Davis & Marcus Alexander Bagwell. A lot of bad blood here after what went down on TV for sure. Finish see's Davis score with a rolling reverse cradle on Idol with the official out of position of course, Taylor acts quick scoring with the Five Arm and Idol gets the pin seconds later at 13:38. The heels share glances with Bagwell as he checks on his mentor after the match.


Just before intermission and we've got our special grudge "Guitar On A Pole" Match as "Simply Irresistible" Jeff Jarrett battles arch rival BillyJoe Travis. With Rod having a match later, Travis is out here alone. Crybaby chants were in full effect of course. Much of the match is Travis getting his butt handed to him, he makes a comeback due to the old school "powder in the eyes" bit and gets the guitar. Sadly he spends far to much time setting up the shot, so Double J snatches it away and WHAMO RIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES OF BILLY JOE! Cover gets Jarrett the victory at 8:14!


Intermission During Intermission it's announced that NWA World Heavyweight Champion: Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat will return to the Mid South Coliseum next Monday Night!

We're back and it's with the USWA Tag Team Championships on the line as The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) defend against the Bruise Brothers (Don & Ron Harris) . Crowd doesn't know who to cheer at first, but then the Brothers start to play subtle heel so the crowd is firmly behind the Fantastics as we hit the home stretch. Great match with the Brothers using their power and brawling to combat Rogers & Fulton's high flying offense. These two teams surprisingly meshed quite well. Finish see's Fulton score with an out of nowhere victory roll on Ron Harris to pick up the hard fought victory at 24:51!



Post Match- Tense moment after the bout, but in the end the Bruise Brothers extend a hand to the champions. All four men raise their hands high in the air.

Singles action followed as TV5 Champion "Superstar" Bill Dundee went one on one with Rod the Bodyguard. If you recall these two men met two weeks ago right here at the Coliseum with Rod shockingly coming out the winner. This time around we had a much different out come as Dundee was able to avoid the California Crusher and with the fans support rally a nice string of offense before pinning the big man with the Bomb's Away at 11:54.

Here we go, a big one followed as the USWA Heavyweight title was on the line as "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert w/ Paul E. Dangerously battled former NWA World Champion: Terry Funk! Before the match Paul E. got on the microphone to offer Terry a spot in the DA, pointing out that Jerry Lawler damn near took Funk's eye 11 years ago. Funker seemed like he was considering the offer, heck he even extended a hand to Gilbert! Eddie & Paul E. celebrated thinking they had weaseled out of the match, and yeah the crowd came unglued as the second Eddie turned around he was met with a wild series of rights and lefts from the Funker! Great freaking brawl here man, lots of fun stuff. Eddie used the chain for a near fall. Funker battles back from behind and wrestled the chain away, tossing it into the crowd! Paul E. got involved in the end, on the apron BUT WHAMO Funk took him out! Gilbert begged off, kick to the gut... DDT FROM THE FUNKER! Cover...

Post Match- Funk is in super baby face mode as he takes the belt into the crowd (forcing security to earn their pay tonight) while celebrating! Meanwhile in the ring, Gilbert slowly pulls himself to his feet and asks Paul E. what happened... when he realizes he's lost the title he pitches a freaking fit! A feel good moment here at the Coliseum as Terry Funk has won the USWA Heavyweight Championship!

Our Main Event followed as "The Beast From The East" Bam Bam Bigelow went one on one with Memphis' own Jerry "the King" Lawler. Crowd was firmly behind the King here. Fun little match, with Jerry doing a ton of selling for the big man. During the King's comeback the official gets taking out. Bam Bam comes back but misses a splash. Fist drop off the second rope from the King connects! No cover, and here comes the run in, but it's not who you think it's...


BOSTON BAD BOY TONY RUMBLE & THE BAD CREW!!!

Lawler kicks ALL THREE OF THEIR BEHINDS! But turns around into Bam Bam Bigelow and a gorilla press slam! Splash off the ropes connects! Rumble gets the official up as Bam Bam scores with a second splash! Cover....

3! BAM BAM BIGELOW WINS THANKS TO THE EAST COAST BROTHERHOOD?! WHAT IN THE WORLD? Your Winner Bam Bam Bigelow at 15:45!

Post Match- A proud Rumble (as trash fills the ring of course) raises Bam Bam's hand high in the air. I think it's safe to say that the East Coast Brotherhood has a new crown jewel and his name is Bam Bam Bigelow! The heels make their exit. Lawler pulls himself to his feet, gets on the microphone and cuts a quick promo about being down but not out and all that jazz. This isn't over fans, this has only just begun!

Quick Results:

The Spellbinder defeated Bad Crew Rose in 2:28 off a spinwheel kick.

Koko Ware pinned New Jack with a small package at 7:10.

USWA Jr. Heavyweight Championship: Champion: Brian Christopher fought to a NO CONTEST with challenger Chris Candido at 12:29 when Doomsday interfered.

Dangerous Alliance (Taylor & Idol) defeated Marcus Bagwell & Danny Davis when Idol pinned Davis off Taylor's Flying Five Arm at 13:38.

Guitar On A Pole: Jeff Jarrett pinned Billy Joe Travis after hitting him with a guitar at 8:14.

USWA Tag Team Championships: The Fantastics (Rogers & Fulton) retained over the Bruise Brothers (Don & Ron) when Fulton pinned Ron with a victory roll at 24:51.

Bill Dundee defeated Rod the Bodyguard with the Bombs Away at 11:54.

USWA Heavyweight Championship: Terry Funk defeated Eddie Gilbert to win the title off a DDT at 26:09.

Main Event- Bam Bam Bigelow defeated Jerry Lawler after two consecutive splashes at 15:45.

Seeing the BBB come out there to help Bigelow surprised me and made me happy at the same time. I can't wait to see how Gilbert and Dangerously react to Funk's winnin the USWA title. The Fantastics win but how will The Bruise Brothers responds. Real surprised at Price losing to Dundee. Guess I can still hope. I am really marking out for the team of Idol and Taylor. If Doomsday gets some guidance, look out.

WOW! Whatta show!

I DID NOT see Terry Funk's win coming AT ALL! What a shocker! I expected the Dangerous Alliance to help Eddie Gilbert carry the USWA title...well forever! What an unexpected chain of events, all because of Gilbert's cockiness.

I still love that while Jerry Lawler is a big part of the Heavyweight title picture, he is not the centerpiece of it. To me, that would be lazy. Instead, he is just another cog in the machine.

I still can't get over that the Funker is the new champion! I had him pegged to be the next member of the Dangerous Alliance. What the hell is Lawler going to think?

Speaking of Lawler, HOLY SHIT! He has bigger problems then Funk and Gilbert because he's officially pissed off Bam Bam Bigelow! I don't know if going with Tony Rumble is a smart thing for him to do since Rumble's track record isn't that good BUT I think the turn was really well done. If anything Bigelow brings Rumble up a couple notches.

The turn has been building for the last couple weeks but I didn't see it coming. Good stuff AND best of all, Bigelow beat Jerry Lawler. THAT is the start of a good turn.

The double turn by Christopher and Candido was another one I didn't see coming but it also was very well done. I don't know what Doomsday is doing but man is he ever powerful. I wonder what's going to happen to Maxx Payne now that the Demolisher is gone?

The Bruise Brothers HAVE to be fed up with playing second fiddle to the Fantastics. They just can't seem to beat them. They had all those shots against the Disciples then all the sudden the Fantastics swoop in and win the belts.

The mysterious Spellbinder is putting his nose in all kinds of things. Who the heck is this guy?

Billy Joe can't catch a break! Good for Jeff Jarrett though - he's picking up tons and tons of steam.

Terry Taylor makes a wonderful addition to the Dangerous Alliance. I'm glad you are giving the guy a solid shot. I can't wait to see just who you are going to team him with...

I will say this - the fans damn sure get their moneys worth coming to the Mid-South Coliseum every week.

Another excellent show out of Mempho, man! Enjoying the heck out of all the ongoing stories & stuff right now. The Beast From The East linking up with the East Coast Brotherhood just makes ALL KINDS of good sense, bro... But damn, I can't even lie. I never saw that coming! Eager to see what you'll do with Bam Bam from here. Rumble makes for a fun freaking mouthpiece, for sure. And yeah. While I don't mind the Bad Crew being strictly cannon fodder - hey, they play the part to PERFECTION - it could kind of drag Bigelow's image down a notch.

Then again, it's all in how you play it. Running Dog & Rose as fall guys could be a lot of fun that actually makes Bigelow look all that more larger than life & threatening by comparison. Like I said, just having Tony talk him up and sell us on how dangerous Bammer is will go a long way in making Bigelow into a monster here. Good stuff. Can't wait for television to hear some sort of explanation. Nice way to hook us there.

Another shocker came in the title change. Didn't expect for Hot Stuff to drop the strap just yet, but seeing the Funker do the whole over-the-top emotional victory lap made it entirely worthwhile for me, man. That's just vintage Terry. Takes me back to his ECW stint in real life, for sure. Good times. Funk leaving with the belt through the crowd would have been a great visual. Gilbert's reaction would have been priceless, too.

Only thing I can think of that would have made this moment ANY better would have been Terry cracking Paul E. over the noggin' with that gigantic cell phone at some point. But hey. All in due time. ;D

Solid finale for the saga between Billy Joe & Double J. Jeff gets the win & probably progresses on to his program with Christopher soon. I like that you kept this one free of outside antics though. No need for Brian to interfere just yet again. That way, this felt like a respectable little payoff to the issues between Travis & Jarrett for the meantime. Kudos for that. And Jeff is becoming something of a pro with that guitar. Hmm.

Doomsday returns! Man, you've really put a presence on that guy as a freaking fearsome force of nature. He just comes through, carves a path of destruction, and departs. No extra additives or filler needed. I dig that. Curious to see if his assault on Candido was just a one-time deal, or if this is a way of you transitioning the Suicide Blonde into a different angle to help sell us on his new baby face role.

I was surprised to see Koko come out on top against New Jack. It only makes sense though. Ware has the experience & knowledge of wrestling strategy to OUT-WRESTLE a thug inside the ring. It's just logical. But you kept the heat on New Jack in a big way, with the brawling and dirty tactics. Still wondering just how you're going to portray Spellbinder when the situations calls for him to participate a bit more. You're right about the guy having the right look & little else. But, with the right story, he could be a solid performer here in Memphis.

Never cared for the treatment he got in real life. His pairing with Brakkus could have been good. Both guys had the right look for the industry. Not much in the skills department, but yeah. They had the look. Just never understood why they got lumped together with PG-13 as part of the "Nation of Domination" though. Just seemed WAY out of place & totally random to me. Watching a sort of mystic mime character, with a (German?) soldier/bodybuilder type, team with two street thugs for gangster street cred & stuff... Yeeeeaaahhh. That was bound to get over.

Good stuff though, Drew. You're really firing on all cylinders at the moment. Every character is contributing & in the right spot on the cards, I'd say.

Nice card with big surprises ... the Funker picking up the win over Gilbert and Rumble working with Bam Bam being the two biggest for sure.

Looking forward to some upcoming TV to see the fallout and explanations.

Danny Davis is a good partner for MAB, would really help him along the way. Wouldn't be a terrible idea to eventually make Bagwell a Nightmare, Memphis did this stuff all the time. All of course to have Davis turn on Bagwell and beat him bloody, well thats just me booking your territory sorry Andrew.

Terry Taylor, Austin Idol, Jeff Jarrett, Bigelow, King, Funker, Eddie I really like your top of the card here bro. Taylor needs a partner to take on the Fantastics. Thats just me hoping. I like what your doing with Spellbinder as well
