We kicked things off at the Mid South Coliseum with our Grudge Loser Leaves Town Match as Wolfie D w/ New Jack went one on one with Brickhouse Brown, who had Koko B. Ware at his side. This resembled a fight more so than a wrestling match, and yes there were times where Koko Ware kept New Jack in check, but despite this he was still able to get what appeared to be a black jack to Wolfie D who clobbered Brickhouse with it for the tainted victory at 12:28.Brickhouse Brown must now leave town, and it's all thanks to Wolfie D's homeboy from South Central!

Post Match- A fired up Koko gets on the house mic and dares both men to come on back and fight, they're not having none of it and instead yuck it up, having the time of their lives having just run Brickhouse Brown out of town!

6 Man Tag Team Action Follows as The East Coast Brotherhood ("Suicide Blonde" Chris Candido & Bad Crew) w/ Tony Rumble take on the trio of The Bruise Brothers & "Nightmare" Danny Davis. Perfectly acceptable match here, in the end Bad Crew is well, Bad Crew and we finish with Rose taking the H Bomb in 6:16.

Our first of 3 big title matches follows as Brian Christopher defends the USWA Jr. Heavyweight Championship against the man from the Orient: Crimson Dragon. Although there are a few moments where it looks like the Dragon has the better of Christopher, he opts to take a big risk with a top rope moonsault only for Brian to move out of the way, Full Nelson Facebuster follows as Christopher successfully retains at 8:47!

More great title action follows just before intermission with The Disciples Of A New Dawn (Demolisher & Maxx Payne) w/ Daryl Van Horne defending the USWA Tag Team Championships against The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers). Awesome match with the Fantastics playing perfect baby faces in peril for the Disciples thru and thru and the crowd rallying behind them on their comeback BIG TIME. Van Horne keeps getting involved leading to the Bruise Brothers hitting ringside to chase him away, unfortunatley for our baby faces the official is distracted by all of this, and in the turmoil Payne is able to grab hold of one of the tag title belts WHAMO right to the back of the head of Fulton, which allows Demolisher to score the tainted pinfall victory at 15:48! The Champions retain, but I've got a feeling we haven't seen the last from these two teams!

Intermission During intermission it's announced that next week right here at the Mid South Coliseum, NWA World Heavyweight Champion: Ricky "the Dragon" Steamboat goes one on one with Austin Idol in a NON-title match!

Back from intermission with "The King's Choice" match as "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol w/ Paul E. Dangerously goes one on one with the visiting Ricky Morton of the Rock 'n' Roll Express. "Rock 'n' Roll' chants are in full effect while Morton's in trouble. Back and forth match, that is until Ricky misses a dive to the outside and injures his knee. Idol works it over for a bit, Paul E. gets some cheap shots in, typical heel stuff. Morton gets a big comeback but tries to slam Idol only for his knee to give out and Idol to land on top. The count only gets two, but the Las Vegas Leglock that follows seals Ricky's fate, he desperately tries to hold on but ends up getting his shoulders pinned to the canvas giving Idol the somewhat clean win at 13:38.

Grudge match action followed as Rod The Bodyguard w/ Billy Joe Travis went one on one with TV5 Champion: "Superstar" Bill Dundee w/ Jeff Jarrett. Rod's an impressive specimen thus far, with a ton of potential. Fun match with Dundee trying to punch Rod's light's out but Price just kept coming back for more. Of course there were tons of "Crybaby" chants directed towards Billy Joe, who kept pointing at Jarrett as if to say they were directed at him. Travis gets involved and is RUN OUT OF THE RINGSIDE AREA by Jarrett to a huge response. It's then that what has to be considered a huge upset happens, as Dundee attempts a hip toss on Rod only for Rod to reverse it into the California Crusher and pin Dundee clear in the middle at 12:19! Rod has pinned Dundee, and one would imagine a TV5 title shot is in order for the Bodyguard!

Our semi-final match is a big one as the USWA Heavyweight Title is on the line with "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert w/ Paul E. Dangerously defending against No.1 contender "The Beast From The East" Bam Bam Bigelow. Much of the match is Gilbert stalling and bumping endlessly for Bigelow. Paul E tries to help, but one can see that he too is intimidated by Bammer. Bigelow takes control near the end with a forward falling slam, BIG SPLASH follows.. cover..

Hits the ring to break up the pin drawing the DQ! Idol's armed with a steel chair and waffles Bigelow from behind as he stands up from the distraction... HERE COMES...

THE KING

To pull the chair away from Idol and chase the heels away with it. Of course Bam Bam recovers and see's Lawler with the chair, so we get a heated argument, with Bigelow using some "crude" language before walking off. The official result Bam Bam wins by DQ at 15:45.

Main Event Time so the King stays at ringside awaiting his opposition in the "Idol's Choice" match, the one and only Abdullah the Butcher being lead out by Paul E. Dangerously. It's a freaking blood bath, the official is scared to death in there, forks shots a plenty. Austin Idol & Eddie Gilbert hit ringside near the end as we get your typical ref bump to set up the finish, but here comes BAM BAM BIGELOW! Paul E. tosses the phone into Abby but it ends up in Lawler's hands. WHAMO two shots to the back of the head take down Abdullah! Second rope PHONE SHOT in place of the fist drop as the official wakes up to count the fall...

3!! Abdullah kicks up just after 3! LAWLER WINS! LAWLER WINS at 19:31!

Post Match- As the heels make a quick exit, a bloodied Lawler extends a hand to Bigelow, ONLY FOR BAMMER TO SHOVE HIM TO THE CANVAS! Bigelow walks off, curse words can be heard. And we get Lawler on the microphone promising to talk some sense into Bam Bam Bigelow on this weeks Championship Wrestling!

A huge feather in young Wolfie D's cap by sending Brickhouse packing! Luckily for Brown, he didn't have to go too far. Looks like Koko might be next up for Wolfie and New Jack.

The Bad Crew is just ... bad. Nice win for the Bruise Brothers and Danny Davis.

Brian Christopher picks up a nice win over a "manufactured opponent" in Hamrick's Crimson Dragon but who will he move on to now?

Van Horne is what gets the tag champs over the hump and will most likely continue to do so over the likes of the Fantastics and even the Bruise Brothers.

Nice way to keep the visiting Ricky Morton looking strong while being able to put Austin Idol over cleanly. Idol is really building steam into his non-title match against the World Champion.

Good win for Rod Price though I am wondering if Jeff Jarrett having left his post to chase after Travis might come into play as a problem between Dundee and Jeff down the road. While he didn't lose his title, I can see the hotheaded Dundee having something to say about that.

The last two matches on their own were very good but the implications coming out of them with Bigelow mad at Lawler is the big news. That might really make Jerry's life tough in Memphis.

Pretty great Monday night at the Coliseum.

Poor poor Brickhouse Brown. At least he didn't have far to go! The tandem of Wolfie and New Jack are off to a good start. Koko is going to need some help against them.

I like the Crimson Dragon as the first real challenger. Hamrick has always been pretty bland so this guise was good for him. Plus it made it so you didn't have to rush back to Candido, which is going to be your big money Jr. Heavyweight feud.

The Fantastics are NOT going to like the Bruise Brothers getting involved. Great, great, tag team match. The Disciples are great and work so great here in Memphis. I almost want to see them never lose the belts.

Idol vs. Steamboat, non-title or not, is HUGE. You've already sold me on that show and this one isn't even over yet! Idol vs. Morton was seriously great. Morton play the ultimate good guy and that's about as clean of a win as Idol is gonna get.

Wow I didn't think at all that Rod would win but he is a really good prospect. Him vs. Dundee will be a fine little TV Title match this week. The Jarrett/Travis stuff as always is great. I have no idea how this feud is going to end.

Uh-oh. Getting on Bam Bam's bad side is NO GOOD for Lawler, at all. He's going to need all the friends he can get in the war against the Dangerous Alliance. I like that there's going to be more Bigelow/Gilbert. A tag match with Lawler and Bigelow on one side to explore the tension would be a lot of fun.

Lawler vs. the Butcher lived up to the hype. I like that you explained why Abdullah was able to get away with forking Lawler. Damn I was hoping he'd pull out the win but you put him over big even in his loss. Awesome main event.

I don't really have any complaints with your USWA so far. Everything is clean, crisp, makes sense and is building to something bigger.

Bigelow having anger issues with the King now, along with Gilbert and Idol, makes Lawler's life rough. Price beating Dundee has to be considered a huge upset. Can't ewait to see how that plays out. The Fantastics may have more than just the tag champs to worry about. Christopher with a good win. I hope Rumble jetisons The Crew real quick.

Enjoyed the hell out of this show. Seriously good stuff. Like a bunch of bees caught in a cookie jar, this territory is just buzzing with all kinds of energy & activity. So many colorful & vibrant characters on full display, man. I dig it.

Of course the King would defeat one of the only men he's NEVER faced before, upon their first encounter. After all, this IS Memphis! That being said, I really liked the main event. Kudos for noting how terrified the referee was in there. I can imagine him being all timid & hesitant in there among the chaos. Really liked the unique finish, too. It wasn't much, but just a small detail like using the GIANT cellular phone for a variation of Lawler's go-home offense was pretty cool in my book.

Jerry seems obviously desperate for allies in his war against the Dangerous Alliance. But his good intentions could have backfired here. Did he just engineer himself a NEW nemesis in Bigelow? Sure looks that way. Still too early to tell though. I'm liking this approach. It keeps an edge on Bammer, plus it allows him to maintain that "rogue agent" feel among this big brewing war in your main event scene. Eager to see where you go with it in the end.

Idol versus Steamer has me stoked for next Monday night. The bout being non-title gives ammo to a surefire promo or two from Austin in the meantime. After all, he did pin the Dragon this month once already. Liked the little story you told in the Morton match here also. I'd say you made the best use of his visit. Kept him shining & still put Idol over strong enough.

You've done a fine job in keeping heat on your tag champs, while effectively setting the stage for some interesting stuff between your top baby face contenders. Hamrick as the Crimson Dragon was fun. Very fitting ripoff gimmick for Memphis. Everything it needed to be, really. And the situation surrounding your TV Title only gets better & better. Dundee, Jarrett, Travis, and Rod are now revolving around that belt. Plenty of possible twists & turns could stem from this one. Looking forward to following it on TV this week.

Great stuff, man. It's awesome to know that you're getting a kick out of writing Mempho so much for us, because Lord knows I'm loving reading this stuff. Keep it coming.
