Y'all looking for some ?
Then ya came to the right place!
Kick Ass Wrestling
5/28/1992
Live at the Dyer County Fairgrounds Outdoor Arena
Dyersburg, Tennessee
We got Memorial Day in Tennessee and if you can't compete in town with the bigger USWA, ya pack up and head north to Dyersburg! An evening of Kick Ass Wrestling and fireworks afterwards ... ya can't beat that!
David Jett opened but little was heard thanks to a sound system problem. No big deal really as the fans wanted wrestling action.
Our opening match was the young Apolo Dantes led to the ring by his father Alfonso. The whole way, Alfonso chastized his son for not carrying his Lucha Factory sign higher.
His opponent for the evening? Oh ... this is a good one ...
Alfonso went ballistic when he saw his son's opponent! A handshake between the two and we were underway. Fast paced start from both with a series of armdrags, all kinds of armdrags. From there, the high flying kicked things up a notch that led into many near pinfalls from both. Alfonso tried to get involved when he complained to the referee but all he did was cause a distraction that allowed the Turtle to pick up the victory off a head scissors takedown and a top rope leg drop after 17:22 of action. Afterwards, Alfonso gave his son an earful all the way to the back.
Reggie B. Fine marched out to the ring for his match against Izzy, all 5'6" and 150 pounds of him. Through the bad sound system, Reggie B. challenged Izzy to a lucha match. Fat chance of that happening ... Fine came out with punches and gained the upperhand quickly. The speedy Izzy chased Fine from the ring with a series of dropkicks that had the big man calling for a time out but neither Izzy nor referee Al Hall were listening. Izzy followed to the outside which was his undoing as Fine stopped him cold by running him into the ring steps. A big boot to the mush gave Reggie B. the win in 8:47 over a very game opponent. The "Victory Strut" was followed by the boobirds.
NEXT! Uhm ... this guy ...
There were two other guys in the ring, Rainbow Brown and Chris Frazier as Sid made his way to the ring while a horrible rendition of Grace Jones' Demolition Man petered out over the sound system. Two and a half minutes and a double chokeslam later, Big Sid walked out of Dyersburg with the W. Of course, Big Sid wasn't quite finished. Barking for a mic, Sid went on a rant which luckily could be barely heard until he finished with "...OF THE WORLD!" before he stormed off.
Up next, Doug Gilbert and Mike Samples continued their battle from the other evening. Much like the first time around, these guys went at it both inside and outside of the ring that referee Hall pretty much let go. An evenly matched bloodbath really turned ugly for Samples when Gilbert introduced a small chain he pulled from his tights. Eddie Gilbert's little brother did him proud, taking the match with a scoop slam piledriver after beating Samples into submission with the chain at 11:13.
Intermission time and no wet t-shirt contest this evening but different nonetheless. An exhibition of strength with bar bending, telephone book tearing and heavy weightlifting by this woman ... she's big, she's busty, she's ... REGGIE BENNETT!
During Bennett's time, several technicians worked on the sound system but to no avail. Whatever the problem, it ain't getting fixed this evening.
With the break over, it was back to wrestling and a rematch between Ken Timbs and Ben Jordan. A very solid competitive match between the two with near pinfalls for both. In the end, Jordan's small package was rolled though and Timbs was able to hold on long enough for the three count at 12:46. Afterwards, the pair shook hands and Timbs raised Jordan's hand in the air which was appreciated by all.
Next up, an over-the-top Battle Royal with Apolo Dantes, the Turtle, Reggie B. Fine, Chris Frazier, Izzy, Rainbow Brown, Doug Gilbert, Mike Samples, Ken Timbs, Ben Jordan and Sid. There was some kind of monetary prize involved but no one could make it out, thanks to the static. With the bell, Apolo Dantes was eliminated in seconds by Sid who grabbed him by the head and gave him the heave-ho. With the sides being drawn, Reggie B. was sneaky in eliminating the Turtle from behind. Chris Frazier took a Sid clothesline that knocked him over the top. Exacting a little revenge from earlier in the show, Izzy eliminated Reggie B. with a dropkick from behind. Doug Gilbert and Mike Samples who were already slugging it out eliminated each other as they jockied for position along the ropes. Little Izzy was next, given the Sid toss. That made it four remaining with Sid, Ken Timbs, Ben Jordan and Rainbow Brown. Timbs and Jordan teamed up to get rid of Brown before turning their attention to Sid. The two on one situation worked for a bit as they did their best to get Sid off his feet but that didn't last long. A couple of big overhead forearm shots and Sid dropped each one with a chokeslam. He piled the two on top of each other and put a foot on top of them but referee reminded him that it was over the top only. Looking mad, Sid did just that, first depositing Ben Jordan, then dumping Timbs out. To add insult to injury, Sid tossed referee Ed Rusk out, too.
The Main Event time and 6-man tag action with the Tennessee Vols and a hooded Yellowjacket versus the team of Kevin Lawler, Jamie Dundee and some young guy with glasses. No one could make out the name but he drew applause when he broke out the Fargo Strut. It got even louder when Lawler and Dundee joined in as did referee Al Hall. The Vols had seen enough and went on the attack. Pretty standard Southern fair with Vols double teaming and taking shortcuts at every situation. The Fargo strutting guy played the wrestler in peril to the hilt, nearly being pinned several times. The first hot tag to Dundee allowed him to clear house, busting out the right hands only to be ordered out of the ring as the referee DIDN'T SEE THE TAG! The Vols could have ended the match several times but chose to dish out punishment instead which made for a second hot tag from the unlikliest of the trio in Kevin Lawler! In he came against the masked Yellowjacket who laughed in his face before firing off a slap. Lawler stood his ground and took a second one ... that's when the strap came down and the place exploded! Lawler came out punching before the Vols hit the ring and they, too took shots before we had pandemonium in the ring with all 6 men in! With order restored, Dundee took a turn pasting the masked man around the ring before letting Lawler pick up the win with a middle rope fistdrop! The Vols were run off by Dundee and their unknown "punching bag" ... er, partner. The victors brought several kids from the audience into the ring for a little Fargo strutting to end the show.
Fireworks and everyone went home happy ... especially the wrestlers who had a nice gate.
Then ya came to the right place!
