"The Plot Thickens."
Championship Wrestling
Saturday Morning June 2nd, 1992
TV5 Studios Memphis Tenesee
[/center]
We kick things off a little differently this week as before we're even in the studio we've got a VTR from this past Monday Night at the Mid South Coliseum!
[VTR]
And it's Jerry Lawler/Ricky Steamboat Vs. Eddie Gilbert/Austin Idol JIP. After some selected highlights of Lawler playing baby face in peril, we're taking to the climax with a fired up Steamboat kicking ass and clearing house before heading to the top rope.Gilbert & Lawler have the officials attention however on the outside as Ricky sets up on top, BUT THEN A CREW MEMBER, A FREAKING CREW MEMBER HOPS ONTO THE APRON AND SMASHES WHAT APPEARS TO BE A CELLULAR TELEPHONE OVER THE HEAD OF RICKY STEAMBOAT! THE DRAGON CRUMBLES TO THE CANVAS... AUSTIN IDOL QUICKLY COVERS AS THE REFEREE IS NOW IN POSITION... GILBERT HOLDS OFF LAWLER, AND AUSTIN IDOL HAS PINNED THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION! AUSTIN IDOL HAS PINNED THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION! As Idol & Eddie celebrate in the aisle with the crew member, the hat and sunglasses that were covering up his identity come off... it's....it's.... PAUL E. DANGEROUSLY! PAUL E. IS BACK IN THE MID SOUTH COLISEUM!
CLIP
And we're back stage in the locker room of the Mid South Colisem as Corey Maclin attempts to catch up with the trio of Paul E. Dangerously, Austin Idol & USWA Heavyweight Champion: "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert!
Corey Maclin: " Eddie Gilbert, Austin Idol, and now Paul E. Dangerously, you guys just SCREWED the King & the Dragon over here tonight! What's the meaning of all this?"
Eddie Gilbert: " You're calling me a cheat? SOME SORT OF SCUMBAG CHEAT? HUH? DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?? HUH? I'M EDDIE GILBERT, THE KING OF MEMPHIS TENNESSEE! I'M THE USWA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION, NOT SOME LOW LIFE CHEAT..."
Paul E. Dangerously: "Easy there Eddie, easy... So this is what we get, eh? Corey Maclin? Who in the hell are you man? Where's (Puts on a mock Southern Accent for just a moment) Lance Russell? Give me that.. "
Paul E. Dangerously: " For those of you who don't know who I am, or what I represent my name is Paul E. Dangerously and I'm from NEW YORK CITY... now around here in (accent again) MEMPH-IS that alone is enough to ready the pitch forks.. but wait... THERE'S MORE... (pulls Eddie & Austin into the shot) what you're looking at right here.. THESE are the THREE DUDES that have done MORE to Jerry Lawler than (waiving his finger) anybody else in the world. I'm the guy, along with Austin Idol, who accomplished something that not even Bill Dundee or Jimmy Hart could do, when we shaved your head bald RIGHT HERE in the MID SOUTH COLISEUM in 1987, HUMILATED YOU infront of ALL your PRECIOUS SUBJECTS... and now you've gone on ahead and aligned yourself with the world heavyweight champion, Ricky Steamboat (laughs to himself) and what I have right here are the TWO GUYS who can TAKE THAT AWAY TOO... 'Universal Heartthrob' Austin Idol & 'Hot Stuff' Eddie Gilbert. "
Eddie's laughing... Paul E. motions for him to present the USWA title, Eddie holds it up to the camera.
Paul E. Dangerously : " You see this right here Lawler, it speaks for itself... this man right here is the USWA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION, this man right here, Eddie Gilbert is the MAN WHO THREW YOUR FIRE IN YOUR FACE, YOUR TRICK, YOUR RULES... Do you remember that? 'Cause I sure as HELL remember that, man! We've already taken your title, we've already beaten your 'friend' Ricky Steamboat... oh and Ricky you can DAMN SURE bet we're not through with you yet.. BUT KING... all that's LEFT.. all that REMAINS is your HEAD! We're not even coming for the crown Jerry Lawler... "
Eddie Gilbert: " Well, I want to wear it at least once.. "
Dangerously shoots him a glare, you can tell the line was ad libbed entirely and caught Paul E. off guard... Dangerously pats him on the back and says 'Sure thing champ' before continuing.
Paul E.: " Corey Maclin, MARK tonight's date on the calender.. MEMORIAL DAY 1992.. THE BEGINNING of the END for the ERA of KINGS & QUEENS... Memorial Day 1992, the MID SOUTH COLISEUM.. you've just witnessed history... THE REBIRTH OF THE DANGEROUS ALLIANCE.... and we're NOT STOPPING at Austin Idol (Austin Idol poses).. we're not stopping at Eddie Gilbert (Gilbert smiles)... See I've been away, and in that time I've made more money, more capital, see I've got deeper pockets than ever before... I'm BRINGING IN ANYBODY & EVERYBODY MONEY CAN BUY.. AND WE'RE NOT STOPPING TILL WE RUN JERRY LAWLER OUT OF PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING! I HATE YOUR STINKING GUTS LAWLER, I HATE YOUR STINKING GUTS... BOY OH BOY, it's like the song says... YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHING YET! "
[END VTR]
And we're to the studio with...
Dave Brown & Corey Maclin as Lance has the day off. Dave expects we'll be hearing from Paul E and his Dangerous Alliance later on in the program. Here's what's on tap for today:

Wolfie takes control early on, but we do get a spot where he distracts the official allowing his buddy on the floor to sneak in a right hand. Moments later Wolfie finishes Young off in under 2 minutes with the inverted DDT.
Your Winner: " Wolfie D in 1:54 via pinfall. "
Dave Brown: " Wolfie D with an impressive victory over David Young here today on TV, but Wolfie who is this you have here with you today?"
Wolfie D: " Who this is, this is my homeboy from South Central Davey Brown, New Jack. "
New Jack: " Bet your asking your self what's a down ass negro like New Jack, that's what ya'll call us 'round here, ain't it? Negros? What's a down ass negro like New Jack, doing hanging around with a cracker ass white boy like Wolfie D?"
Dave Brown: " I.. I.. "
New Jack: " You old fool, just listen up, and you listen real, real good. People 'round here been doubting this man's street cred... they've been calling him all sorts of names, treating 'em like some sort of poser... well let me tell you a story 'bout Wolfie D. Yah' See Wolfie D brought himself to South Central, in the heart of the ghetto, he done come up to me and my crew and say he's friends with Tyrone. I've never laughed so hard in my life, see Tyrone ain't hang out with no white boys... so what I did, I got right in this fools face and told him.. they're ain't no Tyrone here, SO GET TO STEPPING.. and you know what Dave Brown? He didn't back down, he said he was down with Tyrone, and I done lost it... I done spit my drink, did one of them spit takes... I said BOY they're ain't no Tyrone here... but he didn't let up... so what me and my crew did... we dun beat the tar out of Wolfie here till he was battered and beaten, had all blood and stuff coming out of his mouth, and you know what he said when he was lying there on the floor... brains all coming out of his head? 6 on 1, and you know what this crazy cracker done tell us? HE SAID IS THAT ALL YOU GOT... and then I KNEW HE WAS DOWN WITH TYRONE, and THEN I KNEW the BOY WAS DOWN WITH NEW JACK! "
Dave Brown: " That's a great story and all, and I'm pretty sure you can say some of those words on TV but this Monday Night it's Wolfie D & Brickhouse Brown one more time with a lot on the line, as it'll be loser leaves town... "
New Jack: " (mock Southern/white boy voice)" Well that's a great story, gee golly Wolfie D, it's a great story.. MAN SHUT YOUR MOUTH... Wolfie D knows what he's gotta do, he done told me ALL ABOUT Brickhouse Brown, that fool is a lot of things, an Uncle Tom for one, BUT HE AIN'T DOWN.. he's done BIT OFF MORE THAN HE CAN CHEW stepping in the ring with Wolfie D... guys like me and Wolfie here, we're above all this rasslin' stuff, we're straight up Gangsta... we're not gonna bust out none of them there arm drags, we're more likely to BUST 'yo ass open, and play with the blood.... Brickhouse Brown, your UNCLE TOM ASS is going down for the COUNT GANGSTA STYLE! "
Wolfie D: " Now that ain't right, BUT YOU BEST BELIEVE THAT'S WHAT'S UP! "
Dave Brown apologizes for some of the language New Jack used, as I'm sure he's going to get ripped into from Jerry Jarrett/Eddie Marlin backstage, but hey that's what's live TV is all about. Championship wrestling continues after this short commercial.
Clip of New Jack scoring with a huge right hand on David Young from outside the officials view, que freeze frame and a graphic reading CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING CONTINUES!
Commercial Break
We're brought back with a very special music video featuring "Simply Irresistible" Jeff Jarrett
Back to Dave & Corey who remind us that Jeff Jarrett has promised to show up here today on TV despite not being cleared for competition. The talk then turns to the mysterious "Crimson Dragon" who we're about to see debut right here and now, Dave says he's an extremely successful competitor in Japan, even has the nerve to butcher Kobashi's name for no reason really. The talk then turns to this past Monday Night where Brian Christopher won the tournament to become the first ever USWA Jr. Heavyweight Championship, this of course takes us to a VTR of the finals: Chris Candido Vs. Brian Christopher.
[VTR]
Runs about 2 minutes or so, focussing on the back and forth nature of the contest and of course the finish as Christopher dodges an attack from Candido sending him face first into his manager Tony Rumble on the apron, quickly scoring with the German Suplex to take home the title.
[END VTR]
We're then joined by the new Champion himself...
Brian Christopher
Brian's sitting in on commentary for this one so he can have himself a first hand look at the man he'll be defending against this Monday Night at the Coliseum, Japan's Crimson Dragon! Congratulations are in order first, and after we touch base on that we're headed to the ring for the debut of the Dragon!

Vs.
Shaun Summers[/center] [/size]
If you're interested in who's behind the Crimson Dragon mask, it's just Chris Hamrick in a generic lucha mask. He works over Summers at a slow pace doing goofy Kabuki chop and kick spots as Christopher's asked some tough questions by Dave & Corey about defending the title. Brian says it's any body's game as he's more than willing to give Candido a rematch, as well as mix it up with his "mentor" and "friend" Danny Davis, as he plans on being a fighting champion. At around 3 minutes the Dragon finishes off Summers with a thrust chop to the throat.
Your Winner: " The Crimson Dragon in 3:02 via pinfall. "
After the match, the Crimson Dragon slithers towards the side of the ring facing the booth, and motions for Christopher's title, Brian says we'll see about that and that's that. After a tense moment Christopher leaves the desk.
The talk then turns to this Monday Night at the Mid South Coliseum. Eddie Marlin has set up two very interesting match ups as BOTH Austin Idol & Jerry Lawler will be picking each other's opponents for the evening! Now we don't know who Idol has lined up for the King but we did receive this video tape of just who Austin Idol will be facing Monday Night at the Mid South Coliseum!
[VTR]
And it's selected highlights of...
Ricky Morton
Set to Joan Jett's "I love Rock 'n' Roll"!
[END VTR]
That's right the one and only Ricky Morton of the infamous Rock 'n' Roll Express is coming in this Monday Night to fight Austin Idol! We then get a run down of the card as it stands:
Main Event: Jerry "The King" Lawler faces an oppenent of Idol's choosing in the "Idol's Choice" match.
USWA Heavyweight Championship: "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert w/ Paul E. Dangerously defends against No.1 Contender: Bam Bam Bigelow
King's Choice: "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol w/ Paul E. Dangerously faces off against Ricky Morton of the Rock 'n' Roll Express!
"Superstar" Bill Dundee goes one on one with Rod The Bodyguard.
USWA Tag Team Championship is on the line as The Fantasics (Tommy Rogers & Bobby Fulton) challenge The Disciples w/ Daryl Van Horne!
Special Attraction 6 Man Tag as "Nightmare" Danny Davis teams with the Bruise Brothers (Don & Ron Harris) to face the East Coast Brother Hood trio of: "Suicide Blonde" Chris Candido & The Bad Crew.
USWA Jr. Heavyweight title is on the line as Brian Christopher defends against Japan's Crimson Dragon.
And in our opening bout it's LOSER LEAVES TOWN as Wolfie D battles Brickhouse Brown! With 8 Huge matches, you don't want to miss this one!
We're taking a quick break but when we return it's with Austin Idol going one on one with Brickhouse Brown!
A clip and a freeze frame of Ricky Morton hitting a dropkick on Eddie Gilbert from way back when takes us to break.

[/center] [/size]
Idol attacks Brown before the bell for an early advantage. Brown makes a nice baby face comeback, big body slam connects as he heads up top. Paul E. however provides the distraction that leads to Brown hesitating as he comes off the second rope, MISSING he's trademark second rope diving headbutt. Idol acts quick scoring with a swinging neckbreaker to pick up the victory at just 4:40.
Your Winner: " Austin Idol via pinfall at 4:40. "
Dave Brown is joined at the interview set by Austin Idol & Paul E. just moments after the win.
Paul E. Dangerously: " Would you look at this, Paul E comes back into town and Lance Russell takes a powder.. some may call it a coincidence, I call it a GIFT! Dave Brown you can take a seat, I've got this one covered... "
Dave's a little hesitant... Paul E. encourages 'em and he's seated moments later...
Paul E. Dangerously: " Jerry Lawler you're going tit for tat with the MAN who's just pinned the World Heavyweight Champion, and RICKY MORTON's the best you can do? "
Austin Idol: " Ricky Morton, you're a hell of an athlete baby, but you've got about three things wrong... wrong place, wrong time, WRONG RICKY! Haha... "
Paul E. Dangerously: " You know I shouldn't be so surprised... Austin Idol PINS RICKY STEAMBOAT gets Ricky Morton... ONLY IN (mock southern accent) MEMPH-IS would there be such bias... BUT the joke's on Eddie Marlin, the jokes on Jerry Jarrett, and the JOKE's ON YOU LAWLER. Oh just wait... just wait till you see who I've got lined up for you King, the look on your face will be MORE than worth it... I'm talking about a MAN who you've NEVER faced before... buy boy oh boy you've had your opportunities, and WOULDN'T YOU KNOW it, it just never happened... till now that is... You heard it in the little interview from Monday Night that they played out here, MY POCKETS are deeper than ever before, and I've just spent TOP DOLLAR to ensure that THIS MONDAY NIGHT JUST MAY BE YOUR LAST MONDAY NIGHT AT THE COLISEUM! "
Austin Idol: " Believe in this man, JACK, he's about the ONLY ONE who hates your guts more than I do Lawler! Paul E's mystery oppenent finishes the King, than I make an example out of Ricky Morton! Austin Idol jerks the curtain for no one baby, the women's pet and the man's regret, 'Universal Heartthrob' as sexy and mean as I've ever been, baby! Ricky Morton, you ain't NOTHING to me! When you're out there rocking and rolling, I'm off living the high life... champagne, limousines, and big old fat check from Paul E Dangerously for more money than you've EVER MADE IN YOUR LIFE. I'm going to the top of the mountain baby, WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP or BUST and it's all thanks to PAUL E. DANGEROUSLY! "
Paul E. plops the microphone down on the announcers desk as our heels exit. Dave & Corey take us RIGHT back to the ring for one of our featured matches, it's the "Strange Bedfellows" match as 1/2 of the USWA Tag Team Champions: The Demolisher w/ Daryl Van Horne teams with Rose of the Bad Crew w/ Triple B against Tommy Rogers of the Fantastics & Big Don Harris of the Bruise Brothers!

Demolisher punishes Rogers for a bit in the early going, but it all falls apart once Rose gets in there. This leads to a small touch of irony, as Van Horne and his charge see the writing on the wall and bail, after announce that "Doomsday would not approve of Bad Crew, but then again who WOULD approve of Bad Crew? " With a two to one disadvantage, as if it were necessary... Rogers whips Rose into a Don Harris big boot for the win at just 3:10.
Your Winners: " Tommy Rogers & Don Harris in 3:10 via pinfall"
After the match both Rogers & Don are joined by their respective partners: Bobby Fulton & Ron Harris for a quick word with Dave Brown. The talk of course turns to the battle royal this past Monday Night where there was indeed a tense moment between the two teams.
Bobby Fulton: " Yeah it got a little tense in there, but we talked it out and it's all water under the bridge man. "
The talk then of course turns to the Disciples and how it's the Fantastics getting a shot this Monday Night.
Ron Harris: " There's the tension right there, the Fantastics gone and jumped a head of US, getting a shot before our rematch, but you know what, it don't mean a thing to us Bruise Brothers... Daryl Van Horne tries jerking ya'll around like he did to us, then Tommy & Bobby we got YOUR back this Monday Night at the Coliseum! "
Tommy Rogers: " And when we win those belts, you can rest assured you boys will get the first crack! "
Handshakes all around as the studio crowd applauds both teams. We're going to break, when we return we'll be hearing from "The King" himself Jerry Lawler, and the TV5 Championship will be on the line as Bill Dundee defends against former champion Billy Joe Travis, DON'T TOUCH THAT DIAL!
Commercial Break
We're back and Dave's joined by the one and only "King" of Memphis Tennessee himself: Jerry Lawler. Dave's quick to get into it asking The King if he heard what Austin Idol, Paul E & Eddie Gilbert were selling.
Jerry Lawler: " I heard it all Dave, but at the end of the day it's the same song countless others have sung, sure the tune might be different but it's always the same song. There's a lot of truth in there, Paul E and Austin Idol took my hair, Eddie Gilbert tossed a fireball in my face and put me out of action for several weeks... but you know what? I seem to recall the three of those goofs tasting fire from yours truly... so I call it selective memory, 'cause they're forgetting that the King can dish it out just as much as he can take it! "
Dave Brown: " What about this mystery oppenent that Paul E says we'll be seeing later on tonight, King.. someone you've NEVER faced one on one... "
Jerry Lawler: " When it comes to big names that the King has never faced, that's a list that list is real, real short. I've concured them all from the Ric Flairs, to the Hulk Hogan's, even tangled it up and DEFEATED the legendary Andre the Giant... but the man say's he's got deep pockets... he's wimp Dave, just like every other 'so called' manager that's come through here, a wimp that hides behind talent like an Austin Idol or a Eddie Gilbert... pretty soon these guys are gonna learn that Paul E's checks are as good as the rubber their printed on! Now he's peaked my interest as to who this is he'll be bringing out here, but at the end of the day Dave it doesn't matter, I'll still be standing tall, and they'll still be scrambling for ways to run me out of town. "
Dave: " There you have it fans, the King isn't afraid of whoever Paul E. Dangerously got lined up for Monday Night at the Coliseum! "
And with that we're headed to the ring for TV5 Title action as "Superstar" Bill Dundee defends against former 2 time champion: Billy Joe Travis!

Before the bell sounds, Billy Joe quickly stops by to ask Dave & Corey where Jeff Jarrett is, they say they have no idea, so Travis yucks it up a bit. The "Crybaby" chants are in full effect in the early going. Much of the match is the Superstar putting a hurting on Travis, with Travis stalling by bailing to the floor. After a chase sequence Rod is able to score with a clothesline on the outside while Travis has the officials attention. Travis takes over for a good spiel, stopping every so often to pretend to look for Jeff Jarrett. Dundee makes his token baby face comeback, but he accidently takes the official out on a body slam (Travis legs knocking him to the ground) and here comes Rod with that guitar! He lines up a shot, BUT WAIT A MINUTE...
JEFF JARRETT IS HERE!
He yanks the guitar away from Rod! Boot to the gut, and he pitches 'em thru the second rope! Billy Joe Travis has recovered now and WHAMO JARRETT SHATTERS THE GUITAR OVER TRAVIS HEAD! Jeff & Bill get rid of the evidence here, as ROD recovers to chase Jeff to the back! The official is stirring as Dundee covers....

We're back and we're about to hear pre-recorded comments from the USWA Heavyweight Champion: "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert but first we're joined by
Koko B. Ware & Brickhouse Brown! And we're of course talking about Brown's Loser Leaves Town Match this Monday Night against Wolfie D. Brown's bringing Koko B. Ware to the Coliseum as back up. Dave asks about the controversial comments New Jack made earlier in the program.
Brickhouse Brown: " Now I don't know how they do things in no South Central, but around here you've gotta be ready to back up whatever it is you talking 'bout... and Koko Ware & Brickhouse Brown can back it up Dave Brown... we've been doing this a long, long time round these parts... and we've been backing it up since day one! New Jack talks a big game, but it ain't gonna matter 'cause Wolfie D's gonna be on that first buss out of town Tuesday Morning... 'cause like my mama says... IT BEEZ THAT WAY SOME TIME! "
As Koko & Brown exit we're taking to these pre-recorded words from the USWA Heavyweight Champion: "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert.
[VTR]
Gilbert stands behind a cheesy graphic that reads "Hot Stuff" inside of a ball of fire.
Eddie Gilbert: " People all week have been asking me, are your ready for Bam Bam Bigelow... he's been all over the world, from Mexico to Japan, and back again before.. he goes about 6 foot 4, and tips the scales at nearly 400 lbs, how can Eddie Gilbert beat Bam Bam Bigelow? You see it's real, real simple... body of a dinosaur, and just like the dinosaurs he's gotta a brain the size of a pea. Not only am I smarter than you Bam Bam Bigelow, but I've got the best mind in the business, THE WHOLE BUSINESS in my corner in Paul E. Dangerously and the MOST DANGEROUS 'RASSLER who ever came to Memphis NOT NAMED EDDIE GILBERT, in the UNIVERSAL HEARTTHROB AUSTIN IDOL WATCHING MY BACK.. so the question isn't HOW can I beat Bam Bam Bigelow, it's HOW CAN BAM BAM BIGELOW BEAT ME... and the answer? HE CAN'T, HE WON'T, IT'S NEVER GONNA HAPPEN! HAHAHAHA! SEE YOU MONDAY BIG MAN! "
