WWF Backstory
1992 has proved to big a huge year of change already in the
WWF with a downsizing from running a national tour schedule to running a regional schedule in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and New England along with the cancellation of long running WWF TV show Prime Time Wrestling which aired on the USA Network but these setbacks has caused the WWF to think about the next generation of fans and to put a focus on a youth movement within the WWF
WWF President Jack Tunney also announced to go along with all the changes happening in the WWF that he was starting new talent scheme which would see talent from all over the globe come to compete in the WWF and make their own name in the world of professional wrestling
WWF also recreantly announced that they would be re-entering the National Wrestling Alliance and as such has recognised the NWA World Heavyweight Championship as well as the NWA Tag Team and Junior Heavyweight championships and over time we will see these titles defened in WWF Rings which will prove to be a special occasion
The WWF announced that a TV deal which would see four more Saturday Night Specials air on the Fox network throughout the course of 1992 as well as announcing a fifth pay per view spectacular which would air on Sunday 24th June the King Of The Ring will feature an 8 man tournament with a prize to be determined by the WWF President Jack Tunney this Sunday Morning on Superstars.
WWF Title Rundown
WWF Champion- Bret Hart
With Randy Savage holding the title after beating Ric Flair at Wrestlemania 8 it looked like Macho Man would have a long run with the title but in a champion vs. champion match for the WWF Title the current Intercontinental Champion Bret Hart shocked the world by beating Savage.
Hart became only the second man ever to hold both the WWF and Intercontinental Champions at the same time and with the Macho Man quitting the WWF after that match the time has come for new contenders to step up and challenge the champion of a New Generation
WWF Tag Team Champions- Arn Anderson and Barry Windham
Arn Anderson and Barry Windham surprised the world by returning to WWF at the May 19th show at Madison Square Garden as a tag team. Both wrestlers had been seen in the WWF in the past but this time there a tag team and a successful one at that as they beat the Natural Disasters for the WWF Tag Team Title.
What becomes of the tag team division is now unknown the previous champions have left the company so it's time for a new generation of tag team to break through the Glass ceiling and reach for the stars here in the WWF
WWF Intercontinental Champion- Bret Hart
As well as being the currant WWF Champion Bret Hart is also the Intercontinental Champion having won the belt back at Wrestlemania 8 by beating Roddy Piper for the prestigious title
What happens to the Intercontinental Title now Bret Hart holds the WWF title is unclear in the past if somebody has held both belts the IC title has been made vacant it is understood that WWF President Jack Tunney will announce what will happen to the IC Title this upcoming Saturday on Superstars.
The future looks bright for WWF with a new focus on the next generation of stars the WWF aims to provide the most must see programming every week on television with Superstars and Wrestling Challenge airing in syndication across America as well as our four regular PPV offerings this year being joined by a fifth in which the WWF will crown it's first King Of The Ring that airs on PPV on June 24th from the Boston Garden and we hope that everybody enjoys the new generation of talent that flows through the company in the weeks to come.
