"Send in the fuzz."
Championship Wrestling
Saturday Morning August 4th, 1992
TV5 Studios Memphis Tenesee

The show opens with highlights from this Monday's Mid South Coliseum as "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol pins Terry Funk with his feet in the ropes to capture the USWA Heavyweight Championship. We then fade into the studio with Lance & Dave.
Lance Russell & Dave Brown with the opening this week. We're on the heels of a huge Mid South Coliseum show where not one but two championships changed hands, we had some returns in the form of "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton, "Wildfire" Tommy Rich & "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert, and of course the big news is that the Dangerous Alliance is now in control of four out of the five titles here in the USWA! We'll have highlights throughout the show, as well as news about BATTLECADE coming up on September 9th! This Monday's main event will be a four on four elimination tag team bout pitting the Dangerous Alliance against Jerry Lawler, Terry Funk, Bobby Fulton & Marcus Bagwell! So as a preview here today we'll have four singles matches (with one of 'em being for the TV5 Championship of course) with a special stipulation IF for some reason anyone from either team is to interfere in these singles matches, they'll be taking OUT of Monday's main event giving the opposing team an advantage! With that we run down the show:
Challenge Series Match #1 NON-TITLE: Austin Idol goes one on one with "Fantastic" Bobby Fulton!
"Simply Irresistible" Jeff Jarrett will be in singles action!
Challenge Series Match # 2: Terry Funk battles Greg "The Hammer" Valentine!
New USWA Jr. Heavyweight Champion Al Snow battles the Crimson Dragon!
Challenge Series Match # 3: Jerry "The King" Lawler battles "Terrific" Terry Taylor
And in your TV Main Event the final match in the Challenge Series: Bill Dundee defends his TV5 Championship against Marcus Bagwell.
When we return we'll take you back to this past Monday Night and show you the chaos in the main event, PLUS our first challenge series contest as the Idol battles Bobby Fulton!
Commercial Break
We're back and it's to highlights of Jerry Lawler Vs. Bill Dundee from this past Monday Night, focussing on the run in from "Wild Fire" Tommy Rich & "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert! They shocked the world by attacking BOTH men, but as faces and DA members came out for the save and ended up getting into it with each other, Gilbert & Rich bailed to the outside laughing at the chaos they have 'caused.
Our announcers take us to "later that night" where the newest member of the USWA broadcast team Les Thatcher caught up with a proud Tommy Rich & Eddie Gilbert!
[VTR]
Les Thatcher catches up with a laughing/proud "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert & Tommy Rich backstage just moments after the chaos that was this past Monday's main event.
Les Thatcher: " Talk about a chaotic return fellers, Eddie Gilbert your back and it would it would appear you've got yourself some back up in the form of 'Wild Fire' Tommy Rich. "
Eddie Gilbert: " I've been saying it all along Les, I may be stupid but I ain't crazy.... errgh.. I mean I may be crazy but I ain't stupid, and I ain't the only guy out there who's had a falling out with the Dangerous Alliance! "
Tommy Rich: " That's bout right. Ya'h see 'bout four years ago 'ol Wild Furr dun told that low life YANKEE scum Paul E. Dangerously just where to go... he ain't gotten there yet, but I'm proud to send 'em. And just 'cause we got a bone to pick with Idol, Paul E and the Alliance don't mean we gotta come on out there and make friends with the King. See we ain't well liked 'round here, these ain't our people but that don't change a damn thing... we're gonna keep on, keeping on... striking leff & righh unannounced, unplanned, seemingly unorganized... but we got a plan Les Thatcher, we got a plan... "
Les Thatcher: " It would appear you two do, I mean the second things broke loose you two GOT OUT OF DODGE..."
Eddie Gilbert: " And we had ourselves quite a good laugh at their expense. You see Les, as CRAZED...."
Tommy Rich: " 'n FUHRRED UP.. HAHA"
Eddie Gilbert: " As we may be, we got a plan, and it's real, real simple... we're keeping our cards to our chest, and hoping that BOTH SIDES KILL EACH OTHER, while WE PICK UP THE PIECES! Dangerous Alliance has all the gold, BUT WE'LL HAVE ALL THE GOLD, Lawler has the crowd, but you're looking at the REAL KING OF MEMPHIS RIGHT HERE AND NOW... I'll get what's coming to me... Tommy will get what's coming to him... the REAL LOSERS are Funk, Lawler & THE DANGEROUS ALLIANCE... not US! We're the WINNERS HERE! You'll see!"
Les Thatcher: " There you have it, two rebels with a plan in 'Hot Stuff' Eddie Gilbert & 'Wild Fire' Tommy Rich! "
[END VTR]
With that Lance is joined by an over joyed Paul E. Dangerously and the NEW USWA Heavyweight Champion: "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol!
Paul E. Dangerously: " I'm not gonna harp on the downside of Monday Night... Bobby Eaton, Eddie Gilbert, & that drunk Tommy Rich can do or say whatever they want from here on out Lance, we're not worried... what I am gonna do, what WE're gonna do, is turn around, look right into this camera here and say... WE TOLD YOU SO! WE TOLD YOU SO! WE TOLD YOU SO! "
Lance Russell: " Real proud of yourselves, cheating Terry Funk out of that USWA heavyweight title, robbing Marcus Bagwell of the TV5 Championship..."
Paul E. Dangerously: " And taking apart Tommy Rogers bum knee to win the tag championships, of COURSE WE'RE PROUD LANCE... we're champions! "
Austin Idol: " That's right daddy, in seven short days we went on a head and took over the world! We held our cards close to our chest from the moment we came together, and it's all been for this right here... the 'women's pet, the man's regret' the HEARTTHOB holding the USWA title, surrounded by champions... taking the USWA by storm! All guys like Lawler & Funk have left is hope, hope a FOOLS GAME if there every was one. All the crowing, juking and jiving it's all been about this.. what comes next right here, we RUN THEM DOWN, TAKE THEM out for good! "
Lance Russell: " I'll believe it when I see it Idol, you've got a more than capable Bobby Fulton in just a few moments right here..."
Austin Idol: " Bobby's a good hand, heck the Fantastics are one of the best tag teams in the world, but me? I'm the man pulling 21 each and every hand, the Dragon Slayer baby.... you up for what I'm all about, COME ON DOWN and get a first row seat! Let's get down to business! "
"Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol defeated "Fantastic" Bobby Fulton via pinfall off a swinging neckbreaker at 5:45.
Notes: It's actually a fast paced back and forth 5 minute bout here, Fulton's on the offense near the end. Body slam sets up a splash off the top, Idol gets the knees up. Neckbreaker finishes Fulton seconds later. A valiant effort, but Idol's roll continues.
Clip of Fulton's splash to Idol's knees with the caption "When we return, JEFF JARRETT in action! "
Commercial Break
"Simply Irresistible" Jeff Jarrett defeated Johnny Rotten with a second rope dropkick at 2:28.
Jeff joins Lance at the interview set.
Lance Russell: " An impressive victory, but Jeff this Monday Night it's been a long time coming but finally you've got New Jack one on one at the coliseum..."
Jeff Jarrett: " It's about time. Jack, you've gone on ahead and run my family's name threw the mud, made outrageous claims about my grand pappy Eddie Marlin, horrible horrible things that anybody who knows Eddie outside of this program, knows they ain't true. "
Lance Russell: " I've been friends with Eddie for well over 20 years, the man's a stand up gentleman..."
Jeff Jarrett: " He's not biased, in fact he's had just about everyone from Koko Ware to the Snow Man over to his house for dinner, but that's not the point. The point is, someone's gotta stop New Jack and these Gangstas from spewing their hate all over the terroitory, and that's just what I intend to do Monday Night at the Coliseum! "
Lance Russell: " Then it's onward to BattleCade September 9th, where from what I understand a very special 6 man tag has been signed pitting the Gangstas against yourself and 'the Southern Boy' Tracy Smothers and a very special partner... from what I've understand we've got highlights of this man, let's see just who we're talking about right here... "
Lance Russell: " WOAH the BIG BOSS MAN! Talk about a fitting partner..."
Jeff Jarrett: " That's right Lance, the Gangstas need to be brought to justice, and who better than the Big Boss Man to do so! "
Lance Russell: " WOW, there you have it fans, BATTLE CADE Jeff Jarrett, Tracy Smothers & The Big Boss Man will mix it up with the Gangstas in a huge 6 man tag! Good luck to you this up coming Monday Night, and fan's we'll be back with Terry Funk going one on one with Greg Valentine! "
Clip of the Big Boss Man takes us to break!
Commercial Break
We're back & the Gangstas (New Jack, Mustafa & Wolfie D) have taken over the interview set, Lance & Dave have refused the interview, but hey it's all fine.
New Jack: " Leave it up to a pretty ass white boy to go on and call in the fuzz... see we ain't no strangers to county, we ain't no strangers to pigs, but Boss Man, you's a long way from Cobb County and what that means ya'll way out of your jurisdiction, so that badge ain't worth a damn to us.. and that nightstick? We fixing to stick that straight up your...."
Mustafa, laughing cuts him off motioning that they'll get tossed if he keeps it up.
New Jack: " BUT that's for BattleCade... Jeff Jarrett you gots ME Monday Night, and I ain't playing around. See ya'h wanna start throwing threats around 'cause I SPIT the truth each and every time out here.. you wanna defend Eddie Marlin's honor, 'cause he's done had Koko Ware over for chicken and grits? YOU BEST BELIEVE he ain't breaking out no fine china when Koko Ware's in the house... YOU BEST BELIEVE he's locking up all the valuables... you wanna step up and defend a bigot? GO ON, GO HEAD.. but be warned Jeff... I ain't no when to quit... pin me, go on ahead, but don't be surprise if I sit right back on up and grab a baseball bat, a chair, heck I'll grab your boy Tracy's Klan flag and BUST YO HEAD RIGHT ON OPEN... see we don't care 'bout rules, we don't care 'bout rasslin', we're fixing for a fight, and there ain't NO WAY some clown ass pretty boy like you can HANG with us! "
Jack slams the microphone down... Wolfie shouts "NOW THAT'S WHAT'S UP" into the camera.
We cut back to the announcers for apologies to our sponsors and fans at home as per usual when New Jack gets his hands on a live microphone. We then run down the Monday Card as it stands:
Main Event 4 on 4 Elimination Tag Team bout will see Jerry Lawler, Bobby Fulton, Marcus Bagwell & Terry Funk go to war with the Dangerous Alliance (Idol, Dundee, Valentine & Taylor).
A huge grudge match will pit "Simply Irresistible" Jeff Jarrett against New Jack of the Gangstas.

Commercial Break
We're back and we're joined by Terry Funk at the interview set! The now former USWA heavyweight Champion, appears to be in good spirits.
Lance Russell: " You know Terry I had gotten word that you were quite upset after losing the USWA heavyweight title this past Monday, but from the looks of you here today I would have never guessed it..."
Terry Funk: " Fact is Lancey I was upset. Why Monday Night I went on back and trashed my locker room, heck I even booked a flight back home to the double cross ranch, I was all but done here Lancey, ready to pack up and call it quits without as much as saying goodbye to you or these great fans right here... but then as I sat in my hotel room I got a call from Jerry Lawler... Now even though we appear to be on the same page, there's a whole lotta bad blood here so we ain't exactly known for talking on the phone. Yah' see King had gotten word that I was packing up and headed home, and what he did was, well he wasn't calling to say goodbye.. he wasn't calling to talk about that crazed fool Eddie Gilbert, or that drunken SOB Tommy Rich, he was calling to talk about the Dangerous Alliance. Ya'h see 'bout a month ago I came on out here and TV and declared WAR on the Dangerous Alliance, and when I lost that there title I had forgotten that in WAR you don't win 'em all. It ain't about each battle, it's 'bout the last one, and it took a phone call from the King to put it all into perspective Lancey. Ya'h see this war ain't done, it ain't over, as long as those SCUM are holding all them titles, why it's only just begun. SO I've cancelled that flight, I got Eddie Marlin on the phone and I set up the match Monday Night.. the numbers game, it's all done away with... call me CUSTARD 'cause I'm fixing for a last stand! "
Lance Russell: " And we're glad to hear you're sticking around... but I'll tell you one man who isn't, your opponent in just a few minutes here, Greg 'the Hammer' Valentine. "
Terry Funk: " I ain't no stranger to the Hammer, even before all this.. us second generation 'rasslers why we grew up together on the road. Valentine's as tough as they come, but I ain't no softey. Why I've done things in this business, as accomplished as the Hammer is, that he ain't ever done in all his years. Is he a threat, why of course he is, but me? Well Lancey excuse to pun, but I'd like to think of myself as one of the greatest of all time, one of the most DANGEROUS 'rasslers of all time. Valentine put Tommy Rogers out, and that's a shame, but Greggy you try that crap with me, you'll end up sipping your meals threw a straw! "
Lance wishes the Funker luck as he heads to the ring. Greg "the Hammer" Valentine & Paul E. join Lance, with Funker shouting "SEWER RAT" from inside the ring in Paul E's direction, and Paul E. having some choice words from him.
Lance Russell: " In there (rolling his eyes) interest of fairness... Hammer..."
Greg "the Hammer" Valentine: " LISTEN UP! Terry Funk you want to know how DANGEROUS I can be, just ask Tommy Rogers! Not only am I 1/2 of the USWA tag team champions, but I've held just about every title there is save for the world title, so you've got me there... but Terry LISTEN UP, I've made a career TAKING great wrestlers like you OUT! Sending them to the hospital with broken bones, crushed spirits... when I drop the HAMMER or lock in that FIGURE FOUR I BREAK PEOPLE..."
Paul E. Dangerously: " (laughing) Isn't he just GREAT! "
RING THE BELL DAVEY for our second match in today's on going series!
Terry Funk defeated "The Hammer" Greg Valentine via pinfall off an small package at 7:51.
Notes: Fun little match here. Tough and hard hitting. Paul E. plays difference maker at points, providing the distraction that opens Valentine up for a chop block near the end of the bout. Figure Four gets locked in but Funker is able to make it to the ropes. Second attempt see's Terry surprise his foe with a small package for the victory! Valentine & Paul E. protest a face count as Funk celebrates!
We're taking a break, so we get a clip of the Hammer missing one of his trademark elbows with the caption "When We Return the NEW USWA Jr. Heavyweight Champion in action!"
Commercial Break
We're back and it's to the ring!
Non-Title USWA Jr. Heavyweight Champion: "Man of the 90's" Al Snow defeated the Crimson Dragon in 2:11 via pinfall off "The Move of the 90's" .
After the match Snow joins Lance for a generic baby face promo. Bottom line is he's defending the title next week right here against Too Cold Scorpio. Snow puts Scorpio over as a tough challenge, siting that Scorpio won't make the same mistake that Brian Christopher did and look past him. Snow say's he's been doing this for 11 years now, and till now has been a best kept secrete, but that all changes from here on out now that he's USWA Jr. heavyweight Champion! Snow's interrupted by...
ROBERT FULLER!
Al Snow: " You here to give me your card Foggie? "
Robert Fuller: " Foggie? I say, I say I don't know what you mean boy.. I ain't here for no chit chat... I'm here on behalf of the TRUE USWA Jr. heavyweight Champion Brian Christopher to let you know, he'll be cashing in his CONTRACTUALLY OBLIGATED rematch at BattleCade. See Brian's fixing to make himself an impact, and what better way to make an impact than regaining that there title on the biggest USWA show to date. "
Al Snow: " That's real cute, but he's not beating me.... he's not beating Too Cold Scorpio, he's not beating any body as long as he's got a joker like you representing him... "
Robert Fuller: " Now Al, if I wasn't retired..."
Al Snow: " (laughing) Calm down, listen you just deliver this message to Brian... his music video... well IT STINKS... "
AND HERE COMES BRIAN! Shouting "TAKE THAT BACK" really that's what upsets him? Okay! We exchange shoves... and FULLER PROVIDES THE DISTRACTION grabbing him up by the arms allowing Christopher to unload with right hands! TOO COLD SCORPIO is out for the save... BUT HERE COMES THE GAMBLER! Even with the Gambler, the faces are able to run the heels off with Fuller swearing revenge!
We're taking a break, when we return it's match number 3 in our series as Jerry Lawler battles Terry Taylor + we're talking to Bobby Eaton & Koko B. Ware!
Commercial Break
We're back and we're told Too Cold Scorpio & Al Snow Vs. Brian Christopher & The Gambler has been added to Monday's huge show. Lance is then joined by "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton & Koko B. Ware at the interview set.
Lance Russell: " Talk about a classic tag team being reunited, boys what's it been about 10 years? "
Bobby Eaton: " Sounds about right. "
Lance Russell: " Well welcome back to the area Bobby. "
Bobby Eaton: " Lance it's great to be here, and it's great to be alongside a guy like Koko Ware again. See I've been burned out by guys like Jim Cornette & Paul E. Dangerously far too many times these last few years, so I figured I'd come here to Memphis and get a fresh start. "
Lance Russell: " Well 10 years ago you guys made for quite the tag team, here we are 10 years later you've got that much more experience and I for one am looking forward to seeing what you guys can do here from here on out..."
Koko B. Ware: " We're starting right on at the bottom this Monday Night with the Black Hearts, and working our way up to the Dangerous Alliance... truth is we wouldn't have it any other way baby... FRESH start for Koko & Bobby Eaton is just what the doctor ordered! "
Lance wishes 'em luck before taking us back to this past Monday showing Eaton's huge return, see sometimes we do things backwards but hey it works. Eaton does comments as it airs that he saw a friend in trouble, and he felt compelled to make it right and all that jazz. So that's that. We head to the ring for another big match in the challenge series.
Jerry "the King" Lawler defeated "Terrific" Terry Taylor via pinfall off an inside cradle in 9:13.
Notes: Another great little TV bout here. Paul E gets involved throughout the contest, but Lawler ends up hitting 'em with a right hand making him a non-factor in the finish. Taylor misses a charge in the corner and gets rolled up giving the King the victory!
Commercial Break
We're back and we're talking to Marcus Bagwell just before our TV main event! Where he'll have a shot at regaining his TV title! Lance gets right into it, asking his thoughts.
Marcus Bagwell: " Two weeks ago Bill Dundee jumped me from behind, that's the only reason he's TV champion. Today we see if he's got what it takes, and more importantly I SEE if I HAVE what it takes to get it done, regain the TV title and put the Superstar in his place!"
Lance then mentions he's been chosen to face the debuting "Adonis" come September the 9th at BattleCade.
Marcus Bagwell: " Eddie Marlin offered to let me know who he is, and maybe I'm making a mistake but if the man what's to remain a mystery I say let him. I train hard each and every day, and give it my all weither I know the opponent or not I've never backed down from the challenge. So we'll see what all this hype is about come BattleCade! "
Lance wishes 'em luck and now it's Bill Dundee's turn for a rebuttal. Paul E. is icing his jaw.
Lance Russell: " For those keeping score at home, the Alliance is 1 for 3 in singles action here today on TV... but up next is the one that matters the most as this man right here puts the TV title on the line against his former friend, and some would say pupil Marcus Bagwell.. "
"Superstar" Bill Dundee: " Guess you can say that Russell... I taught the kid a thing or two, but I ain't taught him everything 'cause he don't deserve to know. See we got all the belts now, but we ain't done... we got all the belts, TV title, tag titles, USWA heavyweight title, but that that's just the start... We're taking over the world Russell, ya'h hear me BANANA NOSE? KINGFISH, Funk, everyone's gonna pay, ya'h GET IT MATE? "
Paul E. Dangerously: " Let's do this thing... ice is starting to melt..."
TV Main Event: TV5 Champion "Superstar" Bill Dundee battled to a NO CONTEST with Marcus Alexander Bagwell when Tommy Rich & Eddie Gilbert interfered at 10:28.
Notes: Bagwell connected with the Fisherman's suplex and THAT's when Gilbert & Rich hit the ring! It's chaos much like this past Monday with everyone hitting the ring and Gilbert & Rich bailing. We go to break with the brawl being broken up.
Commercial Break
We return with the ring cleared, and a quick recap of what we've just seen. We've gotta move on though, as Eddie Marlin joins us at the interview set to announce the main event for BattleCade. Marlin puts it over as 5 years in the making, but before he can go on and get out with it he's interrupted by...
JERRY LAWLER & TERRY FUNK!
Jerry "the King" Lawler: " First of all Eddie, I wanna apolgize for interrupting you here, but it's important. I gotta come on out with it and commend you on setting up rules preventing the Dangerous Alliance from spoiling the matches here today, but obviously that DIDN'T keep Tommy Rich & Eddie Gilbert from getting involved. Way I see it, from here on out we've gotta watch our backs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, even WHEN all the DA is accounted for as long as those two cowards are out there. SO with that, hey I know we've already got the elmination tag team match, but Eddie me and Terry got to talking and we're MORE than willing to work twice this Monday, for the same pay even... what we're saying is... WE WANT TOMMY RICH & EDDIE GILBERT THIS MONDAY NIGHT AT THE COLISEUM! "
Eddie Marlin: " Normally I wouldn't be doing my job if I let ya'll take two big matches like this, could go on out and injury yourselves real, real bad... but you've got a point... these guys are gonna keep on attacking ya'll from behind until they're dealt with, so you know what, you've got it!"
They shake on it to a nice reaction, before exiting. Eddie's back to announcing the main event.. at BattleCade one of the two main events will be.... for the first time in 5 years, for the biggest prize in our sport.... Ricky "the Dragon" Steamboat defends the NWA World's heavyweight championship against "MACHO MAN" RANDY SAVAGE! The audience erupts as a graphic of both men is shown. HERE COMES AUSTIN IDOL & PAUL E!
Austin Idol: " YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME?! WHAT'S HE DONE??! WHAT'S HE DONE, THAT I HAVEN'T DONE! I BEAT THE DRAGON TWICE, RICKY STEAMBOAT AIN'T BEAT ME ONCE! "
Paul E: " This man DESERVES a rematch, you know it, these people know it... this man DESERVES TO BE IN THE MAIN EVENT AT BATTLE CADE! "
Eddie Marlin: " Oh he'll be in the other main event, just ironing out the details.. but if ya'll want a match with the Dragon.. I can make that happen to, NEXT MONDAY NIGHT at the Coliseum... it'll clear this thing on up, then I can go back to giving these people something they AIN'T seen in a long time, and that's the return of the Macho Man. "
Paul E & Idol seem proud of themselves as we're taking to Corey with a run down of BOTH what's been announced for BattleCade AND this Monday's show, starting with Monday's Coliseum show of course...
For the first time in 10 years Koko B. Ware reunites with "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton to take on the mysterious Blackhearts!
The monster known as Doomsday faces off against the Spell Binder.
Jerry Lawler & Terry Funk team up to take on Tommy Rich & Eddie Gilbert in what's sure to be an all out brawl!
Special attraction see's Tracy Smothers battle the returning Billy Joe Travis.
And in our opening contest the Stud Stable duo of Brian Christopher & The Gambler face off against USWA Jr. heavyweight champion Al Snow & Too Cold Scorpio
Then it's time for the BATTLECADE LINE UP! Remember the date, SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 9th at the Coliseum! Closed circuit locations are announced then it's time to look at the card as it stands:

The ADONIS debuts against Marcus Alexander Bagwell
+ MUCH MORE TBA, including a second main event!
We're taking a break, when we return it's with the wrap up!
Commercial Break
And we're to Lance and Dave for the close. Our opening match saw USWA Heavyweight Champion Austin Idol pick up a pinfall victory over "Fantastic" Bobby Fulton with that neckbreaker of his in NON-title action at 5:45. Jeff Jarrett picked up a victory over Johnny Rotten with that second rope dropkick he fancies at 2:28. Former USWA Heavyweight Champion Terry Funk with a huge pinfall victory over 1/2 of the USWA tag team champs "The Hammer" Greg Valentine at 7:51. New USWA Jr. heavyweight champion Al Snow with an impressive victory over the Crimson Dragon with the "Move of the 90's" in just 2:11. "The King" with an impressive pinfall victory over the other half of the tag team champions Terry Taylor at 9:13. And of course our main event was ruined, as Marcus Bagwell & Bill Dundee battled to a NO CONTEST at 10:28 thanks to Gilbert & Rich.
Lance Russell: " For Corey Maclin & Dave Brown, I'm Lance Russell and we'll see you at the matches!
