Tony Schiavone: Welcome everyone to World Championship Wrestling, and this is Saturday Night! I'm Tony Schiavone, joined as always by Jesse The Body Ventura. Jesse, things sure heating up around here as of late with the summer in full swing.
Jesse Ventura: Full swing is right, because if you want to hit home runs, you gotta put the power in there. As of late, right here on TBS has been nothing short of a grand slam, ha!
Tony Schiavone: And we will likely see a grand slam or two tonight, grand body slam that is. We not only have the final first round match in the TV championship tournament, but joining us in action tonight it's the NWA Tag Team champions, The Steiner Brothers.
Jesse Ventura: And you can bet that where The Steiners are, Sting and Lex Luger won't be far behind. We've heard what they have had to say, and now it's time for The Steiners to give an answer, it's put up or shut up, right here on Saturday Night!
Tony Schiavone: Also tonight, comments from Rick Rude as it relates to not only Ric Flair's return two weeks ago, but also the throw down from WCW champion Ron Simmons last week.
Jesse Ventura: And let's not forget. Last week, Robbie V, Chris Benoit. First it was 10 minutes, and then last week it was 15. You've got questions, well I'll get the answers and find out where things stand with them. Hard hitting and in your face as only the Body can!
Tony Schiavone: Stay tuned! We'll be right back.

Johnny B. Badd vs Vince Torelli
The final first round match as the winner here meets Marty Jannetty next week on Saturday Night. Badd has a hard go here with Torelli as the two youngsters look to advance. Torelli gets Badd down and applies a leglock, though Badd is able to reach the ropes. Calling for break, Torelli won't give it at first. He then gets up and starts laying into Badd on the ropes with the ref again calling for a break. An "in the zone" Torelli shoves off the ref and continues, but this prompts the call for a bell. Torelli has been DQd for his actions! He then goes after the referee, realizing what has happened. Jannetty then comes out and starts landing rights on Torelli, but ends up eating a belly to belly suplex. Badd is able to clothesline Torelli over the top and to the floor, before helping up Jannetty. They check on the referee as Torelli seems enraged by this outcome, now eliminated from the tournament. Set up now for the second round is the interesting pairing of Badd vs Jannetty, winner to meet Rick Martel in the finals.
-- Second commercial break --
Jesse Ventura: I'm joined now by the United States champion, Ravishing Rick Rude. Ron Simmons throwing it down last week champ, whaddya say?
Rick Rude: What do I say? I say this. I don't know who Ron Simmons thinks he is challenging me as if I hadn't been coming out here for weeks on end looking for a title shot. He ducked and dodged, and the fact of the matter is he's just trying to save face because now he has no choice and the committee is making him defend that belt. Do I accept? This match wasn't up to me to accept Simmons, but now you have no options and it will go down at the Clash of the Champions in a few weeks time and after that, you'll be looking at the next WCW Heavyweight champion!
Jesse Ventura: A lotta people asking though, Ric Flair. He came out here two weeks ago, what if he wants that U.S. Title?
Rick Rude: If he wants it, he can come and try to take it. Ric Flair likes to call himself the Nature Boy, but he's dealing with a real man now. Rick Rude is not about talk, I am all about action. And if you don't believe me Jesse, just ask the ladies!
Jesse Ventura: Ha! Well there you have it. I don't know if I'd want to be in the shoes of Ron Simmons or Ric Flair, but it is official now. Simmons, Rude, the Clash. I know I'll be there because that is one I'm not about to miss.
Joey Maggs vs Chris Benoit
Having had several recent draws with Robbie V, this week Chris Benoit has a new opponent in the form of Jumping Joey Maggs. Maggs makes a little comeback after Benoit dominates the early going, but misses a clothesline. Benoit then catches Maggs with a full nelson, taking him back with a Dragon Suplex. Benoit arches the back and keeps it locked in to secure a three count. With a third match against Robbie V likely coming, Benoit scores some momentum here tonight.
-- Third commercial break --
Tony Schiavone: Welcome back. I'm joined now by Flyin' Brian. Brian, last week, it became clear that you have issue with The Great Muta.
Brian Pillman: That's right Tony. He made this personal two weeks ago when he sprayed out that green mist into my eyes. Last week, I came looking for revenge and if The Great Muta wants some more, I'm not a very hard person to find.
Tony Schiavone: And indeed he'll be looking for more when the two of you meet one more time at the Clash of Champions in three and a half weeks time.
Brian Pillman: I fully intend to show everybody that the so called Great Muta isn't so great after all.
Tony Schiavone: Also we should mention, next week right here on Saturday Night, it is you Flyin' Brian challenging Rick Rude for the United States title.
Brian Pillman: An opportunity that I will capitalize on. So that when I beat Muta, I not only make it personal but I lift up the championship belt above my head and hold it high like old glory itself. This isn't Japan, and if Muta doesn't like it, he can leave it!
Tony Schiavone: Alright, Flyin' Brian! Big opportunity next week against Rick Rude here on TBS.
The Steiner Brothers vs Johnny Ace and Terra Ryzing
The NWA Tag Team champions make an appearance in non title action tonight. While Ace gets in some offense on the champs, Terra Ryzing wouldn't be as lucky. The end came as Scott Steiner hits the Frankensteiner on him and scores the three count to take the win. The announcers make mention that still to come, Sting and Lex Luger are here and if recent weeks are any indication, The Steiners may want to stick around and listen to what they have to say.
-- Fourth commercial break --
Jesse Ventura: I'm here right now with Robbie V. Twice now, you and Chris Benoit have went the distance. 10 minutes wasn't enough. 15 wasn't enough. I don't even know if there's enough time in the world to get a finish out of you two.
Robbie V: I don't know either Jesse. Chris Benoit is a tough competitor in that ring, but this won't be over until one of us gets our hand raised in victory.
Jesse Ventura: Well we saw it so far. It might take the whole show to figure out a winner between you two!
Robbie V: It won't take that long. All I need is 20 minutes. Next week, me and Chris Benoit. There must be a winner.
Jesse Ventura: We'll see about that!
Steve Regal vs Mark Starr
After coming up short in the first round of the tournament to crown a new TV champion, this is Steve Regal's opportunity to get back a win. Regal makes quick work of Starr and is able to score the three count after a high knee lift. The commentators put over the win, but Jesse Ventura is less than impressed with this saying that he thinks Regal can be a lot more if he stops catering to the fans so much and acting like Uncle Sam out here when he's not even American.
-- Fifth commercial break --
Tony Schiavone: Before we get to the main event, I'm here with the WCW Tag Team champions Sting and Lex Luger. Gentlemen you saw it earlier, Rick and Scott, The Steiner Brothers in action.
Lex Luger: That's right Tony Schiavone. Myself and the Stinger have come out here week after week, and now finally we have the Steiners here live. We want them to come out here right now because we want to know. Will they or won't they give us a shot at the NWA Tag Team championship.
With that, The Steiners head out for a reappearance after their match earlier.
Tony Schiavone: Alright, let's keep this calm gentlemen.
Scott Steiner: I wouldn't have it any other way, but don't mind Rick because he's never calm! Now as for the two of you, if you want a shot at these belts we aren't hard to find. We are fighting champions and we WILL give you the shot you want at the August Clash of Champions.
Tony Schiavone: Big announcement, they
Scott Steiner: BUT. Allow me to finish here.
Sting: No, allow me to finish! Myself and Lex Luger, we are the WCW Tag Team champions. A lot of fans around here have been wondering just who is the better team, us or you two. Clash of Champions, they're going to find out!
Scott Steiner: I think these fans are smart enough to realize who the better team is already. They might cheer you two, but they cheer us any time we step into that ring, and they do it because we mean business in there. Clash of Champions, you two want it, you got it. As I was saying though, you want the shot, well so do we. Put up the WCW Tag Team Titles. Let's make it interesting.
Tony Schiavone: Stakes being raised here.
Lex Luger: See that's where you're wrong Tony Schiavone. Me and the Stinger, it doesn't matter if these belts are up for grabs because we aren't going to lose. Defeat is not an option, and at the Clash of Champions you are looking at the next NWA Tag Team champions.
Scott Steiner: We'll see about that.
Tony Schiavone: Alright, big match signed here. Title for title, champion vs champion. It all goes down at the Clash of Champions in three and a half weeks time.
Jimmy Snuka vs Rick Martel
Having already advanced to the final of the tournament to crown a new TV champion, Rick Martel sees action tonight against veteran high flyer Superfly Jimmy Snuka. Snuka gives Martel a good run for his money in the contest, but misses a splash off the top rope when Martel is able to roll out of the way. After locking in the Boston Crab, Martel would get a rare submission win against Snuka. Martel now anxiously awaits the result of next week's semi final match with Johnny B. Badd against Marty Jannetty, set to battle the winner at the August Clash of the Champions. Also next week, Robbie V vs Chris Benoit with a 20 minute time limit, and in the main event it's Flyin' Brian challenging Rick Rude for the United States championship.
With that, the show goes off the air with the Saturday Night logo, and the announcers reminding viewers to come back for more next week at 6:05 eastern on TBS.
