Paul E. got involved in the end, on the apron BUT WHAMO Funk took him out! Gilbert begged off, kick to the gut... DDT FROM THE FUNKER! Cover...

NEW USWA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION: TERRY FUNK AT 26:09!
Post Match- Funk is in super baby face mode as he takes the belt into the crowd (forcing security to earn their pay tonight) while celebrating! Meanwhile in the ring, Gilbert slowly pulls himself to his feet and asks Paul E. what happened... when he realizes he's lost the title he pitches a freaking fit! A feel good moment here at the Coliseum as Terry Funk has won the USWA Heavyweight Championship!
We clip yet again, this time to Terry Funk himself in the locker room moments after the win.
Terry Funk: " I'd like to start out by saying a few thank you's, 'cause this right here (holds the title up) is something I'm not 'pose to have, I'm 'pose to be at home, retired, so as ya'll can imagine winning this here title my very first night back, why it means.. it means the world to me. I've gotta thank Eddie Marlin for filling me in on what the Dangerous Alliance was trying to pull off here tonight, now me and Eddie ain't always seen eye to eye, so to get that phone call from him to come on out here to Memphis.. boy, I didn't see that coming... next I've gotta thank Paul E. Dangerously & Eddie Gilbert, 'yah see it takes a certain kind of ignorance, a certain kind of stupidity to sign an open contract and take a man like me at his word... if I didn't pull the wool over those eyes of yours, I wouldn't be here now would I? And lastly, I've gotta thank the people of Memphis. See throughout the years I ain't exactly been nice to ya'll, haven't exact had the nicest things to say about your town and you're King... but for you to open up your hearts to me, forgive me for all I've done... why it just touches this old dog's heart... of course that has a lot to do with who I was up against, and I understand that.. See it's clear to me that ya'll hate Eddie Gilbert, Paul E. Dangerously & Austin Idol, and I'm sure for some of you it's a surprised to see me of all people come on out here and rile up their feathers by taking this here title... a few months ago I would have been there right along side them.. Paul E. said it right here tonight, Jerry Lawler damn near took my eye and there is always going to be that part of me that.. well what is it they say an eye for an eye? But yah see over the years, all the blood shed that we've shared, well I RESPECT JERRY LAWLER... now don't go counting your chickens before they hatch, yah see I'm not inviting the man over to the ranch or nothing... heck there may come a time that I'll come for that eye... but unlike Eddie Gilbert at that NEW YORK SEWER RAT PAUL E. DANGEROUSLY... I respect you Lawler, see ya've earned that.. I don't like you, but I respect you... RESPECT is something men like Eddie Gilbert, Paul E. Dangerously & Austin Idol will never comprehend.... but ya'h see tonight right here in Memphis, Eddie Gilbert was taught a lesson in HUMILITY... BUT I'm sure it's not over... I know you Eddie, I know how you work, and I know how that RAT PAUL E. works... rematches are a coming, and if it's not you it's Austin Idol, and if it's not Austin Idol it's Terry Taylor, and if ain't Terry Taylor... well Paul E. will just buy up someone else to come on after this belt, and ya'h know what? I think tonight proves that this old dog, as raggedy and mangey as I may be, still has some fight left in 'em... so COME ON SCUM... COME ON BACK FOR MORE! "

Lance Russell & Dave Brown ATTEMPT to open the show, but they're quickly interrupted by Paul E Dangerously, "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert & "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol. Eddie paces around, looking nervous, disdraught and down right crazy, as Idol tries to calm him down by rubbing his shoulders telling him not to worry about it.. Lance reluctantly gets up to get a word with the trio.
Paul E. Dangerously: " I'm not here to exchange pleasantries... before I get into what we're doing here, Lance why don't you fill the people in on this Monday Night's Main Event at the Coliseum... "
Lance Russell: " Well we were going to get on into all that a little later on in the show, but if you insist.. this Monday's main event will see your men here, the Idol & Eddie Gilbert teaming up to face the Championship duo of NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Ricky Steamboat & NEW USWA Heavyweight Champion: Terry Funk. "
Paul E. Dangerously: " It doesn't get any bigger than that, now does it? But are we happy? "
Lance Russell: " Here we go... "
Paul E. Dangerously: " I'm not here to complain about the match Lance, in fact it's an honor and a privelage to take part in such a HUGE match for both these men right here..."
Eddie: " NOT ME... I WANT MY.."
Paul E. Dangerously: " I'm getting to that... you see a tag match of that caliber, why it might just be the BIGGEST match in the history of the Coliseum.. we're talking about 4 of the biggest stars in ALL of professional wrestling, but as Eddie was a bout to say.. it's not what we want... HELL it isn't even about what we want, it's about WHAT WE'RE LEGALLY ENTITLED TO... as a big as Terry Funk & Ricky Steamboat Vs. Austin Idol & Eddie Gilbert is, there are two matches out there that are not only bigger, but two matches that we have EARNED, two matches that we are CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATED to take part in... I'm of course talking about Austin Idol's WORLD title shot, and Eddie Gilbert's REQUIRED, MANDATORY rematch for the USWA Heavyweight Championship.."
Lance Russell: " Well I have it on good authority that Eddie Marlin's working that all out, and we'll have word on that a little later on in the program here..."
Paul E. simply sighs... stating "OF course he is"
Eddie Gilbert: " HE BETTER, 'CAUSE THAT OLD MAN, THAT OLD MAN CHEATED ME OUT OF MY TITLE, AND EDDIE MARLIN SET IT ALL UP! "
Austin Idol: " Easy there partner, easy... 'yah see Lance.... Eddie's all worked up, but me... I'm COOL AS A CUCUMBER BABY... and what that means for 'ol Eddie Marlin, haha... see I'm thinking straight JACK, I'm as FOCUSSED as ever, and Eddie Marlin.... you've got till the end of this show to make it right... or.... else..."
Lance Russell: " A threat? Now if that isn't low..."
Paul E. Dangerously: " Easy there Russell, he's not talking about violence, he's talking about LEGAL CONSEQUENCES... you see when Austin Idol signed on for Ricky Steamboat two weeks ago, the contract stated a victory gets him a title shot in the IMMEDIATE FUTURE.... when Eddie Gilbert was tricked into a contract signing with that Texas, good for nothing, that... that... DISGUSTING OLD MAN Terry Funk..... it was with the condition that IF he should lose, HE WOULD receive a rematch AS SOON AS POSSIBLE... so bottom line Russell, if Eddie Marlin's going to keep us waiting, then REST ASSURED I WILL put my HARD EARNED CASH into the hands of the greatest legal team money can buy, and WHEN IT'S ALL SAID AND DONE.... not only will Eddie Gilbert & Austin Idol get the matches they deserve, but Eddie Marlin... and believe me, I WILL NOT lose sleep over this whatsoever, Eddie Marlin will be FORCED to SELL this god forsaken company! The DA walk off as Lance mentions that we've gotta take a break, when we return we've got a run down of what's in store for the rest of the program, + Koko B. Ware & the Spellbinder will be in tag team action!

And now we've got Lance with Koko Ware, and his first question is just what in the world is the deal with the Spellbinder? Koko Ware speaks on the big man's behalf.
Koko B. Ware: " Well I don't even know Lance, all I know is the big guy's got my back, so I've got his! "
Lance tries to get a word with the Binder..
Koko B. Ware: " Oh he doesn't talk much, it's okay.. I've been talking to him, and he's ready for this Monday Night! "
Lance mentions that Monday Night at the Coliseum Koko Ware & the Spellbinder mix it up with Wolfie D & New Jack! New Jack's said and done some controversial things since debuting...
Koko B. Ware: " Oh I'm not gonna in power the kid by talking about it, he's a punk bottom line... I ain't gonna defend myself against what he's said and done 'round here, I ain't lowering myself to his level, yah know. Just know this, he's gonna eat those words come this Monday Night! "
After thanking Koko we go to pre-recorded words from New Jack & Wolfie D.

And it's to New Jack & Wolfie D on the streets, but they're not alone as they've got three big men surrounding them holding baseball bats, one with wide wild crazy eyes who laughs throughout the promo.

Eddie ensures a huge card this Monday Night (using the tag line: Tag Team Turmoil) as we BUILD to the following Monday. He urges fans to come on down and celebrate Independence Day 2 days early at the Coliseum on July the 2nd!
Not only will the USWA Heavyweight title be on the line as Eddie Gilbert challenges Terry Funk.

Fun big man, little man match here. With Rod dominanting with power in the early going. We do all your typical spots, dropkick that doesn't take Rod down (till the second one), shoulder tackle spots, Rod even bust out a nice gorilla press at one point. Fulton's punished i a bearhug for a bit, but he's able to battle back from behind. Finish see's him set up on top, but Travis directs the officials attention to Rogers, this allow him to sneak up and toss Fulton from the top turnbuckle and to the floor! He quickly rolls him in and it's the California Crusher that finishes Fulton off for good! Bodyguard Rod with a win as we head into the title match this Monday Night!

As Christopher comes thru the curtain, it's revealed that Jarrett's opposition for the morning Crimson Dragon is already in the ring. Lance shouts that he doesn't want any trouble out here.
Brian Christopher: " FIRST of all Jeff, I ain't apologizing for nothing... I have it on GOOD AUTHORITY that she's A HUSSY anyway! And if she had HALF A BRAIN, she would have painted a picture of ME, 'cause I'm a CHAMPION and your just some bleached blonde son of a promoter taking TV time away from GOOD OLD HONEST MEN like me! You surround yourself with guys like Bill Dundee, and heck even me once upon a time 'cause YOU can't get the job done!"
Jeff Jarrett: " If I can't get the job done, they why won't you just put the title of yours on the line there, eh? Shouldn't matter, I'm sure in your mind you've already won..."
Brian Christopher: " Oh 'cause that's something I'd do... I'd put the title on the line against you, just 'cause? Rumble's laughing alongside the Crew as Bigelow heads towards the ring where Rumble's FORMER charge "Suicide Blonde" Chris Candido awaits.

Candido's fiery but he's giving up a great deal of size in there. He impresses by taking the fight to Bigelow early on but yeah, the finish is never in doubt here. Candido kicks out of a power slam, and surprisingly DOES come back. Off the top cross body is caught and he's planted with a fall away slam! Power Bomb finishes Chris off all together at a little over 6 minutes.

And it's back to Dave Brown who says he's really looking forward to the Freebirds return. With that he takes us over to the interview set where Lance Russell is standing by with the mysterious Daryl Van Horne!
Lance is joined by the ever mysterious Daryl Van Horne over at the podium. He wants answers, who is the monster, what is his name and where is he? We're shown highlights of the monster destroying Koko Ware & Chris Candido from Louisville & the Coliseum respectively as Van Horne proclaims him glorious.
Lance: " Well who is he? "
Daryl Van Horne: "Throughout history he has answered to many names, but to put it all into prospective you may call him Doomsday, for he will bring froth the end of the world..."
Lance: " To be honest with you I was hoping to get a first hand look at the big man.. "
Daryl Van Horne: " My life has been dedicated to the pursuit of the very same ideal, and now he has shown himself to me, allowed me to be his harbinger of the ends of days... as to his whereabouts, just know he is close, as for the why... I cannot answer for Lord Doomsday, perhaps his actions are random, but I will say he has taken a liking to the Brothers Bruise..."
Speak of the devil, the Bruise Brothers storm the set!
Ron Harris: " Listen, I don't care about any of this crap... you know what we want... we want, what'd yah' call him? Doomsday.. we want Doomsday.. right here.. right now..."

Don grabs Van Horne by the lapels...

WHAMO from behind two men dressed in all black with white drama style masks and hoods attack the Bruise Brothers from behind! By getting the jump on the big men they're able to remain in control! Ron Harris gets dragged to the ring and introduced to the ring post face first! They double up on Ron Harris DDT'ing him on the concrete floor! Lance is shouting for help out here, as Van Horne rips the microphone from him..
Daryl Van Horne: " While I speak of his coming, they shall do the same with actions... I give you Destruction & Apocalypse, THE BLACKHEARTS..."

We're back and it's to our announcers letting us know that the Bruise Brothers are a little banged up but they're okay. A match has been signed for this Monday Night: The Bruise Brothers Vs. The Mysterious Blackhearts! We'll have more on this Monday's card in just a few moments but FIRST we're joined by Jerry "the King" Lawler & Chris Candido!

Dundee is fired up at the start, Taylor on the other hand is happy as all can be after what went down earlier, and chooses to stall a bit getting under the skin of Dundee in the process. Fun mat wrestling sequence builds to the two traded some right hands, with Dundee of course coming out on top. We get some cheating from Taylor and what not, 'cause he's a heel and all. A cheap shot from Paul E. Bout takes us into a commercial break and back. Finish is a shocker, well depending on your definition of a shocker. Paul E. provides a distraction on one side of the ring as Dundee and Taylor fight out on the floor. Greg Valentine attacks from behind with a chop block taking out the knee of Dundee! He rolls 'em into the ring and Taylor too. Taylor catches Dundee as he slowly pulls himself to the ring with the FIVE ARM! Cover..

"Simply Irresistible" Jeff Jarrett with a huge win over Crimson Dragon in just under 5 minutes thanks to a second rope dropkick. Bam Bam Bigelow with a big win over "Suicide Blonde" Chris Candido after a devastating power bomb at 6:10. Marcus Bagwell with a quick win over Danger Mask with that Fisherman's suplex of his at just 1:05. Jerry Lawler with a quick win over Rose of the Bad Crew at just 3:11.
