Good to see new writers on board. Looking forward to seeing what the 2 I am not familiar with have to give. Hoping to see some quality writing along the lines of what Grape was doing before.

I'm back where I belong. I had big writing block for the the last year. Everything I tried New places , but nothing worked. I belong with you guys, Grape, JP, Drew, and Miss. We have a great core group of guys, along with SS giving his two cents. I Will try to a better team mate.

Due to busy schedules and an unfortunate illness in the family, we lost AWA and USWA. I do hope everything works out for both guys and maybe some time down the road they can come back.
Looks like we are also getting a new WWF added to the mix from our newest member, Promoterx. Welcome aboard and good luck!

I am going to be upfront, my match writing isn't the best. I am more concerned with gimmicks, angles and storylines than in ring work. But I love the wackiness of the early/mid 90's WWF, I love the larger than life craziness that most on the internet hate. It may not make my WWF Popular, I won't lie about that, but I am hoping to have some fun with it.
I tried to come up with a reason the WWF has been so start/stop/start here, so I cooked something up, it plays with real life but changes some dates around to make it work.
The World Wrestling Federation has seen grander times, but after Vince McMahon was indicted by the Federal Government for Steroids, Vince found himself spending more and more money fighting off the allegations (yes I know he wasn’t indicted until November 93, but for the sake of explaining why WWF has been largely absent from the board, if it is OK with everyone involved I would like to say in this universe Vince was indicted in May of 93 and was acquitted in November of 93) . Returning to their roots in the Northeast, the WWF tries to pick up the pieces with a syndicated television show, Superstars, from Poughkeepsie, NY in the Mid-Hudson Civic Center on a two week rotation. Vince hopes that the WWF can get back on track and maybe find their way back to National Television and Pay Per View.
I am going to take this very slow, Superstars for several months before I even think about Raw, I have read through every WWF show, so Tatanka is the IC Champ and the Quebecers are the tag champs as it was last left. I feel like there should be a WWF Champion, so I am going to forgo trying to crown one as the one promoter had the belt vacant and was going to fill it in a Royal Rumble that did not happen and the next was going to crown a Champion at a KOTR that did not happen.
So for our world, I would like to propose that KOTR did happen, Hogan won the title, and Luger won the KOTR. Luger than won the title from Hogan the next night on Raw and then the WWF went black. So that make Luger the current WWF Champion, as a heel.
So there you have it, simple shows, using larger than life characters, and just trying to make it fun.

I will be acknowledging the indictment as it was in real life in my commentary (Nov to July). You can say what you want happened for your stuff, but that is too good for me to pass up as material for Bischoff over the next 8 months and I intend to reference it as needed lol. For outside forces, I go by what happened in the real world for my stuff, but obviously everybody differs.
Personally if you are just going by what the last guy left off with, I would not bother with the long layoff and just act like nothing happened and it has been on weekly ever since. Most writers seem to do that here unless starting the place from scratch like Grape tends to. For what it is worth on the WWF front, from PMs, his plan was for Bret Hart to get the belt. Not that it matters at all though. I would probably hold off on somebody I want as champion in favor of them chasing to get the title in writing so it actually matters when they win and I could tell the story.

Welcome aboard.
Book whatever makes you comfortable, man. Bringing something different to the table isn't a bad thing, by any means. There are cartoon promotions, gimmick promotions, work-ethic promotions, and so on. I like variety. Keeps things fresh. If your approach offers us a unique touch, then bring it.
Can't speak for everybody, but I honestly couldn't care less if you stick to the previous promoters' continuity or not. It's not a big deal at this stage anyhow. There's been so many glitches in getting the 'F off the ground & into flight, that ya could practically come in and launch the thing with a "clean sweep" treatment - any way you'd like.
Bottom line? Don't beat yourself up about anything that came before ya. All that matters is that you're loyal and committed to your own canon & what YOU create during your time here. And, from the sound of things, I think it'll stand out enough to feel like its own separate entity. Looking forward to your work, man.

Yeah, I made that same point in PM. I think that may have had a hand in doing in the previous guy. Trying for continuity and ended up doing things he did not want to do trying to make sense of it. Even if you did, there is a 5 month window there where you can pretend that pretty much anything happened, start however you want and nobody will think twice of it. Plus back then, it is not like WWF would still be talking about departed wrestlers or finished storylines.
That said, another point I was going to make was the smaller roster. I did not want to suggest it, but personally I think that was a big help for me. Starting with 20 talents, after 2 months I went up to 32 or so, and then 40 by the new year. It let me adjust everything accordingly and not get overwhelmed early on. Easier to intro 20, intro another 10, then another 10, build to 40; rather than just start with 40 off the bat and everything ends up lost, you do not know what to do with talents that end up just there without any real purpose. Hopefully it works out for you in a similar manner to start with 20 and slowly work more in.

Throwing my 2 cents in ...
Continuity, no continuity doesn't matter to me. My advice is to write what you feel comfortable with. Angle heavy, workrate heavy, goofy, serious - again, it is all about what you feel comfortable in doing. My feeling has always been a happy writer is a writer that will stick around for awhile. Once it crosses the line into a chore where you beat yourself up, you won't stick around long.

Thanks for the advice. I been places where some people are total sticklers to the you have to follow up exactly what the last guy did and make it all work. With freedom to change it up a little bit I am going to do a soft reboot.

I'm behind obviously, sorry. I'm working on Power Struggle now and should have it up by Wed. During the Power Struggle Intermission I'll play highlights of the Super Grade Tag League finals. Sorry guys.

JP,
Did you delete all mention of the Thanksgiving Indy show? I read it the other day and was just going to comment on it but it now appears to be gone as is the Free Agent listing.
Not sure why you would but man, was that hilarious. Loved the commentary throughout - funny, funny stuff.
